The second time I attended multiple people talked to me and the priests have had excellent sermons (especially Jude the current priest). Sometimes the music has more modern items than I prefer, but there is a nice mix of traditional and modern, with mostly excellent performances. They encourage participation, but are not pushy. I prefer liturgical services. This church with it's Episcopal bent, coupled with social consciousness is an excellent choice for anyone looking for more meaning and an actual community in the Menlo Park area. Check it out if you are interested in community or dissatisfied with another church in this area.

**************** REVIEW 426 ******************…read more I'm not Christian nor Catholic, I'm Buddhist in fact, but I've been coming to this church for over 10 years as a volunteer in their Sunday kitchen, cooking for the less fortunate ones. This wonderful church serves the homeless and low income families with a full meal 5 days a week. They join with InnVision and Hands on Bay Area organizations. A full meal consists of a salad, a savory main course, a starch dish, and a veggies dish, plus dessert! We are serving average of 80-120 people per Sunday, and we do offer second meal, when we have enough food donation! It's a beautiful church with open arms to all! Please come by to volunteer, we always need food donation and helpers!

I know this church has had its ups and downs, but I've attended daily and then later Sunday masses…read morefor only 10 years, so I've seen the upturn. Right now, the church is run by the Dominicans who are trained to teach, and in general, they teach well. The only drawback is that there is a fair amount of turnover in the priests based on what's going on in the Dominican order - when someone gets sick or dies, others get moved to fill in gaps and we've gone through a couple of pastors with shorter-than-normal stays. The second priest is generally only assigned for 2-3 years. Families and kids are absolutely welcome here both at daily masses and all the Sunday masses. Both the older parishioners and the priests are very welcoming of kids. There's a cry room in back with audio, and there's a separate program at the Sunday 10am Mass during the readings/homily for the younger kids (2-7 year olds). And if you need to bribe your kids a little, there are donuts after the 10am Mass. The current pastor, Father Jerome is into having parish socials, so there have been monthly BBQs sometimes with ice cream trucks. There are also educational talks from various Dominicans in the area on weeknights. The music is more on the older side (more hymns, less modern) and is consistent across all the masses. For the time I've been here, this parish has been relatively no-drama. I came in right around when the parish priest had an issue and had to leave , but I don't see parishioners fighting, and the priests seem genuinely happy to be assigned here which tells you something. The church is not as ornate as other churches in the area, but the community and solid teaching here makes up for it.

Very solemn funeral service of my brother in-law Patrick McGlennon. But one thing that I noticed,…read morethe bathroom for Men & Women is on the both sides of the entrance of the church. And I don't know why they didn't clean it early in the morning because I totally smelled the pee's of people from last night service of the wake or vigil. That's all, but over all the church is wonderful and the Italian priest and altar boy named Dillon Glanville did a good job. God bless them

9/14/20 Update - Even after 3+ years, I am still dealing with the emotional wound resulting from…read morethe abandonment I experienced from BACC. I continue to be AMAZED by new messages from readers of Yelp who shared with me their similar experiences. My own trauma has been documented by a licensed counselor. It seems I should just get-over-it the disappointment I felt from my months long encounter with BACC. The truth is I had come to love the ten guys from BACC who initially surrounded me and love-bombed me when I was alone in a very difficult situation 3 years ago. I thought they cared about me. But from my own experience, I think: 1) They don't care about you, even as they love-bomb you. From my personal experience, this is the only explanation I can think of for why, when I didn't conform, initially 9 (including the Leader) and in a few weeks all 10 guys from BACC cut off contact with me permanently. No one ever wrote to the message group they set up to check on me just a few weeks earlier. The guys who invited me to their homes and dinners never messaged again. The guys who invited me to their group activities never called again. The guys who initiated coffee with me never came again. I had come to love these guys for their unexpected "care and love". So the subsequent sudden and dramatic abandonment (when I didn't conform) seemed so shocking to me that it left a lasting trauma that I am still coping 3+ years later. If they really felt sorry for me as a person and cared about my trials, wouldn't at least a few of the 10 stayed in touch, even if less frequent? I don't know how else to explain my personal experience with BACC. The recognition that the guys from BACC didn't care about me, even as they love-bombed me, is a part of my journey to Heal. 2) They only care about if you are going to be IN or OUT. Some readers may disagree with me, but I think there is nothing wrong with what other reviewers said that BACC is "it's their way or the highway". There are plenty of righteous absolutes in the Bible. However, I was surprised by the uniformity of actions by TEN guys. They all came at once. They all gone at once. It is like as if a light switch was turned ON then OFF. I assume at the Leader's command. There is no individuality? Even though Bible has plenty of righteous absolutes, as far as I understand, salvation is individual. Each person has to decide what is the right thing to do for each day. In my experience, not one of the TEN guys did anything different from the group. That was a surprise to me. 3) Some reader may further disagree with me, but I think there is nothing wrong even if a church only cared about whether you are IN or Out. I understand a church has limited resources. Therefore, it is even more important to be AWARE that the church only care about if you are IN or OUT, speaking from my own experience. Else, you could mistakenly appreciate and love the guys who love-bomb you and suffer my fate (if you are unable to conform like me). There are plenty of 5-star reviews. It seems to me those are from people who were love-bombed and choose to conform. In the final analysis, perhaps it was all my mistake to initially TRUST that BACC cared about me as a person when they love bombed me. I don't know how else to explain my experience, except that they only care if you will be IN or OUT. This acceptance of what happened is helping me heal. I humbly offer up my 3+ years of journey from hurt to acceptance/healing to those who may find it helpful. As I continue to receive messages from hurt people, I think there is a need out there. Please also read my original review from 7/30/2017 for context.
