I am giving this great place 4 stars because I had to run back and forth from the pro shop to the hotel to the golf academy viewing area to get information about using the golf facilities (-1star).
I will come back here when the weather is less windy and rainy as well as more stable to play even a round at the beginner Balgove 9-hole course (My handicap is not below 36 as required for some of the other St.Andrews links trust GCs).
I'm unsure when that will be :-)
I rented an entire day's use of proper ladies clubs (cost about 40pounds) since my instructor (I forgot his name) told me that I was practicing with men size callaways for some time now. =D yikes I had to go to Scotland to get my sizing straight!
The driving range was open and I practiced after my 1 hour links lesson.
The viewing area near the driving range was very clean and informative about all things regarding golf instructors, hiring equipment, etc.
Anyways the weather was really cold and unpredictable; I was surprised to see young athletes and older ones practicing/playing on the golf courses when it started hailing. If you can prepare for and play the links in a reasonable time....you are ready for ANY golf course!
I'm unsure if the floodlights are working in the putting green area since I didn't stay around after 5pm near the golf course...too cold. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr shiver shiver read more
