Our family had the most disconcerting experience from enrolling our little preschooler in this school. We love our neighborhood, but are so disappointed to have such a school in our community. In my opinion, and I can only speak from my experience, the preschool program is disorganized and seems unprofessional. The particular staff member we dealt with did not meet our expectations in how to handle beginner preschool toddlers and provide them with the nurture, education and guidance preschool children need from the very beginning. From the first week of school, I noticed so many inadequacies but I let them go, everyone makes mistakes (trash in my son's backpack, items lost, no help with his things, him crying when dropped off and was left alone without anyone consoling him..etc..) But that was the least of my concerns! The first concerning one however was that during the middle of a heat wave, the children were out in the playground, and when I picked up my son, he was red and drenched in sweat, it was concerning. The news were advising to keep children, pets and elderly inside, yet the preschool class was out. I didn't think it was appropriate not to abide by some sort of rule given extreme weather conditions. I brought it up but was told "we follow what the other grades do, and we also go out in winter so bring booties and scarfs." A week later or so, this staff person began to complain about my son's very typical preschool behavior! A smart, active, and already coming in at Kindergarten level! I don't think she was able to meet him at his level. For example, she said "he likes to run in the classroom", and I said, okay, then you should tell him, "please use your walking feet"! I educated her about using positive reinforcement and re-directing, teaching and guiding preschool/toddler behavior (I thought that was her job to begin with). The most concerning for me is that this was happening and it was only like the 2nd week of school! To make a dreaded story short, we proceeded to call a meeting with the principal, who just defended the mediocre behavior from the staff member, in my opinion. Soon after after she made a comment to my husband about "preferring certain days of the week when there were less kids in the classroom because things ran smoother", I knew best but to run for our lives! At that point, we made the best decision of our lives, to request our 80% left of our years tuition, (which we had paid in FULL for entire year, 5 days a week!) and immediately withdrew our little boy from that school. I am glad this was only a short lived awful experience, and our money was well spent elsewhere. read more
