I love the people, within the community. They are very liberating. It is not often that you see…read morethe power of God financially, with the diversity that the community brings to the all believers. Rev. Sights, make me pleased to know that I am strong, courageous, a woman, and I should have the equality of Gods compassion as well, even though I am "Black", wonderfully, yet fearfully made. She has never once made me feel bad about my color, differences, challenges, my background, and always have given the upmost care and hospitality. I love the office staff, the pantry, and the area (the atmosphere alone helps to bring healing for all believers). If you want to succeed and overcome Mamath this is the place to be. Most people don't realize that this church is one of three area buildings designed by Frank Lloyd…read moreWright (probably the most well-known architect in the US). It may not be too exciting from the outside during the day, but at night its 'steeple of light' pierces the night sky and creates a temporary, nocturnal landmark on KC's skyline. I can not comment on the Church that is housed in this structure, but this building is a landmark...one that usually goes unnoticed. A short history and info from Wikipedia: "In April 1940, Community Christian Church came to Wright and asked him to design a new building for them after a fire had destroyed their last church. Wright based his design on a parallelogram including some features previously conceived for his last building for Johnson Wax Company, along with one additional unique feature: a spire of light. Due to high building costs, the scale of the church was reduced during construction. The auditorium was cut back from a planned 1,200 seats to 900 seats, many details were eliminated, and the building was sheathed in gunite, a form of lightweight concrete, over Wright's objections. The spire of light also could not be built and illuminated due to technical limitations of the times. However, the church was dedicated on January 4, 1942 and served the congregation well. In 1994, the Spire of Light was finally completed as planned. The components are housed on the church roof inside of a perforated dome on the building's northwestern corner. The spire is created by four 16" xenon bulbs ignited by 40,000 volts of electricity, then, in combination with a parabolic reflector, produces 300 million candlepower of illumination in a near perfect column. The spire can be seen for miles around Kansas City, and reportedly can be spotted 10 miles north of the Plaza, depending on conditions. It has been calculated to stop at least 3 miles up above the earth, about half the maximum height at which jet airplanes fly."

We attend the Saturday evening services and the music just speaks to my soul! They don't judge those who enter their doors so everyone can enter and feel God's presence. The bible is preached here and you can look up the scriptures for yourself and verify what is being taught. They don't pick and choose which ones to believe and not believe. Love is mentioned 200 times in the Old Testament and you definitely feel love in this church. If you are looking for a church home, come try this church out as I don't think you will be disappointed.

My husband and I moved away in May and of all the things I miss, I miss this place the most. If you want a message without the "HELL, FIRE AND BRIMSTONE" method, you found it here. The way the message is delivered is so aesthetic. I FELT the message, I received the message. I've been to a variety of different churches in search of a connection my whole life (48 years) and I finally found it at COR. Pastor Scott and Pastor Adam are truly amazing in the way they share the message. There are so many activities and opportunities for someone to stay connected. I would definitely recommend this church to anyone who has never felt as if they "belonged" in any other churches. Welcome home.

You want big and thoughtful? If so, seems like Village PC may be the place for you. I have not…read moreworshiped there, but have met four of the pastors and when they are swinging that much talent in one place, it has to be good. Tom Are is a solid person that happens to be a pastor. Pastors Jarrett, Meg and Matt are also great folks who take seriously the call to engage in one's faith journey with hearts and minds. Keep in mind, this is a big big church, so if you are looking for a small community, this may not be it. But . . . if you want some good program, great pastoral staff and a larger church setting, this may very well be the church for you! DISCLAIMER: Yes, I give every church FIVE STARS not because every church is superfantablous, but every church that I will review can certainly be a FIVER to someone. I will never review a church that I would not be willing to try myself if I were looking. No need to bad mouth freaky-scary churches because they are uh, well, freaky and scary.

Worship in the sanctuary was excellent. The Keynote in the Fellowship Hall was well attended, and the breakout workshop rooms all had adequate space. Village, being a BIG church (some would say a church it's size is a micro denomination onto its self) has a chef on staff. The chef and kitchen staff fed our group well and the quality of food was excellent. I go to a lot of events at Village and they are engaged in the larger community as well as the life of Heartland Presbytery. The Grief Support Network holds it's monthly meetings and it's annual conference at Village. Village provides a relaxed environment (and good coffee that is always ready) and the tech facilities that are needed for small conferences and events. This is a church that I look to to provide for me spiritual support as a pastor that helps me do my ministry with my congregation in the community. Their Village University has brought in speakers like Marcus Borg and Tony Campolo. I am glad that Village's ministry touches it's members and the Presbytery and the larger community.
