They offer a unique blend of cultural and spiritual ambiance that is inspiring and transcendental. It brings the nostalgia of temples back in India. The festivals are well-planned, engaging, and very vibrant with Kirtans, lectures, Abhishekams, Homas, with vedic chants and wonderful prasadam. For me, it is a one stop location for peace and tranquility to mind, body and soul. Temple is open to everyone. I thought about the interesting pink building on Route 140, I took the leap and went inside. To my surprise it is a wonderful temple with Jaipur architecture (Pink City) with friendly and welcoming people. The atmosphere is very peaceful, great for mantra meditation and finally ended with a delicious vegetarian prasadam. I highly recommend to visit this temple and enjoy the wonderful experience.

Recently, I went to vist my hometown, Lowell, to pay a tribute to my dad at the temple. I prayed for about 15 minutes. Then I kindly asked the staffs if they could help me locate my dad's urn. I was struggling with my Cambodian words trying to communicate with the monks and staffs and they finally brought me to a small closet where they kept all the urns. The closet was very small and packed with all the urns. It was unorganized! All the letters were written in Cambodian! I couldn't read any of those. I only spent about 15 minutes searching for my dads urn because the staffs were getting ready for another funeral service. In the end, I didn't find it. As long I know he is in a good place and that I pay a tribute to him is all that matters. I wouldn't not recommend anyone to walk alone in the area eventhough Lowell is slowly improving. The temple is small and clean. A good place to pray for loved ones.

Islamic Society of Boston.. Today is my first mosque visit since I came to Boston about two weeks…read moreago and my heart feel so warmed by the experience I had today.. So after doing some shopping at Costco today, we decided to go to this mosque for zuhur prayer. So when we walk in, it was really quiet. I went to get abulation and started looking for the women's prayer room. Couldn't find it. So I just walk down the hallway waiting for my husband to finish his prayer. I planned to get him to do the exploring for me. I couldn't help noticing there were many greeting cards plastered all over the wall. Some were in kids writing so I assume there are classes for children held here at the mosque. While waiting a guy came and said hello to me. He ask if those kids praying upstairs at the men's area my children. I said yes and he praises on how beautiful they are. Well, thank you. He then began telling me that he has 23 grandchildren himself! Anyway, my husband who just finished praying start talking to him. So when he found out that I haven't been able to find the women's prayer room, he started to give us a personal tour of the mosque. There are big prayer room for women (and men, of course), kids play room, office, kitchen and a few other areas. I went to pray while my husband keep chatting with the lovely guy. After that I noticed there are more greeting cards plastered in the prayer area. And the content just fill my hearts with hope and love. These cards are from people around the neighbourhood that has shown support and solidarity with the Muslim community here. Remember those cards in the hallway? Those cards are actually prayers and well wishes too. This is one of them that the mosque proudly put up in the women's prayer room. "Dear Islamic Society of Boston, Our family wanted to send you messages of love to let you know that you are respected and appreciated. We will stand up to the hate and intolerence that is happening in our country as will so many others. Sending love and light. Sincerely, Erin Fera, Andy Stein, Antonia Fera-Stein (age 3 yrs old). There were many more. So today, I left the mosque feeling uplifted first by the friendliness of the mosque's rep who showed us around and secondly by the support this community has shown to each other. You all have my utmost respect!

I have been visiting this place many weekends a year - as much as I can, for the past so many years. They have gone through so many transformations - from the very time they started and were in a much smaller property in Somerville - I think in mid 2000s, till they moved here in the very late 200s. For anyone who knows Sikh religion - it has many ideologies. One of the big ones is service. And this temple epitomizes the selflessness with which they serve anyone who comes here. Although the congregation comprises of a majority of the Sikh community that has settled down in and around Somerville, Everett, Malden, Medford et al, you will find a great mix of people coming in - people who don't even follow or practice the religion. That is the essence of this place and the people who run it. Every one of the staff members are kind, down to earth, hardworking individuals. They keep the premises always beautiful and clean. The food of god - langar - as it is known in the Punjabi dialect, is always delicious and there for everyone who visits. And the Sunday lunch is not to be missed. Every time there is a 1pm Patriots game, and I am unable to attend the Sunday services, I feel slightly guilty :( But knowing this place the way it has been - been there for anyone who feels the need to spend some time getting a taste of some deep yet very simple spirituality, it makes me happy. Thanks to everyone who has been instrumental in making this amazing institution a place so worthy of every word of praise.
