Never again. My party and I had a really horrible experience here this morning. A waiter made a horrible, rude and completely unnecessary comment about my friends appearance which caused us to leave the restaurant immediately after sitting down. This used to be one of our favorite spots in the neighborhood and we've even hosted private parties here but I'll never come back knowing this is how they allow their servers to treat guests. There are plenty of other breakfast spots in Tribeca that deserve business more. read more

I don't know if it seemed worse because it cost $16 for a two egg omelette. With a square of generic American cheese jammed in it. I'm going out on a limb and say no. the service is pretty quick, the front of house staff super friendly and accommodating. this establishment accepts credit cards and there is ample seating inside and out. portions are decent. bf really enjoyed the unlimited coffee. i got the lox benedict. the eggs were a bit overcooked. some people like it that way but i like mine runny. also it came out cold, but i figured they cooked my meal first and then everyone else's food at my table. the flavor was decent though. saw someone order mozz sticks which actually looked really good. other tables also ordered salads and pancakes which also looked very good. bf's french toast was pretty good. his eggs and bacon were standard. overall, it wasn't a terrible experience. would come back, but mostly because i live in the area. read more

I was starving after class and decided to roam the streets in search for a place to eat. I stumbled upon this little train car gem! I was drawn right in. You don't see these old-time diners anymore... Nostalgia rushed through me, and took me back to simpler times when my grandparents used to take me to old style diners in the Midwest. Definitely felt right at home. Upon entry, I was greeted with the friendliest face. My waitress Shakira (not to be mistaken with Shakira Shakira. Or maybe? Ha!) was wonderful! We had an amusing conversation. She made my experience a pleasant one. I ordered the Western Omelette (I added cheddar). The omelette came out quickly and piping hot! The golden cheese oozed out with such ease. That first bite sent my taste buds to a different realm. Next, the potatoes(home fries). The potatoes were a mix between potatoes, home fries, and hash browns. DELICIOUS. They came out super crispy which I love. Every crunch was enjoyable. I asked for dry rye toast. The slices of rye were thick and crispy! I slathered jelly and butter on them babies! The coffee was hot and robust. Diner coffee is always the best! Now, moving on to the price. Diners, in general, I feel are a little bit pricey. This place is on the higher side, BUT, the food is absolutely worth that price. The rent in this city to keep anything afloat is difficult! -The portions are fulfilling, the ambiance is homey and comfy, the service is exceptional, and the staff works very hard while keeping organized with smiles on their faces. All of that is definitely worth every penny. They ONLY accept cash, so make you you have the green handy! If not, there is an ATM outside. All in all, I had a lovely experience. If you are a party of 1 ( especially with snow white hair) keep walking. I was in two Sundays ago around 1:00, sat at counter for 20 minutes, was ignored after the initial, "sure sit at counter" . I didn't say anything, just left, every place has an off day. Went in yesterday little before noon, was given a menu, a few minutes later order taken, ( 3 eggs over medium, sausage split well done potatoes no toast, black coffee, pretty basic) I had to gave the order twice because they repeated it back wrong the first time. About 5-10 minutes later a plate plopped in front of me with 2 eggs one over easy, the other over easy rare and smashed, two sausage, one whole and just warmed up the other split about a quarter of the way down, a little warmer than the other, not much. I said "this is not what I ordered" , the fellow at the counter repeated the order back to me, incorrect again, I repeated what I ordered ( now the third time). At no point did anyone say, "we'll fix it, sorry" nope, So I ate in frustration, and presented with a bill for the bargain sum of $20.96, again with the incorrect order. Because I waited tables in college and grad school I can't not tip, so I tipped 15% ( have not tipped that low since well before the pandemic). What is really annoying is that walking through tables I saw diners with sausages exactly the way I like them done. So again if you are a party of one, don't bother, especially if you have white hair. read more

If I could give them 10 stars I would!! My friends just hosted a private birthday party there this weekend and we had the best time. It is so cute inside. Open bar and unlimited finger foods for under $100 pp is a steal for nyc! Food included French fries, sweet potato fries, chicken fingers (sooooo good), BEC, cheeseburger sliders, tuna melts. Drinks were nonstop but the best part was absolutely the service. They came by constantly to refill our food and drinks without us needing to ask. So this place is amazing! Fernando is an angel. I asked to charge my phone and before I could finish my sentence it was in his hand and plugged in! I asked for it back to take a photo of the food and he said no it's charging lol. Finally with persistence I was able to take the photo below. I told what seems to be the manager or owner that the place was amazing and he just lit up! These people care about people! Finally! A diner with great customer service! I was going to leave 4 stars but I saw the low reviews. The reason I was going to leave 4 stars is because the veggie burger was a bit mushier and not as solid as I like it. Hmmm... before i get started on my experience in this establishment I would like to say a lot of bad teenage boys hang around here. First off the food took an astonishing 7 minutes to come out! I felt very at home around the wonderful gentleman but the kept taking pictures of my friend, Taylor! Then with the food i found a very large toe nail in my eggs I ate it but it had a very odd crunch. I'm not sure if the person whose toe nail it is eats very healthy but i decided to ignore that. When it came to my desert my ice cream seemed to have a little bit of mucus on top! I didn't pay much attention to that but it was overall a great experience! Would recommend! read more

We stopped in for brunch and found the place pretty busy, although we were able to get a seat right away. We were pleased to find that they serve drinks, so we started with two simple but delicious Bloody Mary's. For breakfast, she had a Swiss omelette, whereas I went with the classic Greek breakfast, my personal NYC diner go-to. It was a surprisingly fresh and bountiful mezze, with hard-boiled eggs, pita, dolma, fresh vegetables, olives, and mountains of feta. We supplemented this with a side of crisp fries to share. The service was friendly, and shout out to the sole server who seemed to be singlehandedly keeping the place running smoothly. Most visited restaurant living here in tribeca, rarely find yourself running into much wait and service has ALWAYS been excellent and fast. Their breakfast, lunch, dinner dishes -- all knock it outta their respective parks truly. The Lumberjack -- classic breakfast for hungry mornings, likely does scientifically help cure hangovers -- same with their Steak and eggs breakfast. I live in Tribeca so Square Diner is a place I go to with some regularity. Although prices have risen percipitously since they re-opened there are still many good items on their menu. However corned beef hash is not one of them. I would advise everyone to steer clear of the hash. I love corned beef hash & will try it for brunch almost every place I eat. Sad to say Square Diner's hash is inundated with thyme which gives it a horrible taste. Beware, if you like 'traditional' corned beef hash Gee Wiz diner is a much better bet. read more
