Not far from the tram and the metro is the parc de Gerland. I live close to the parc but I've always been to the parc de la tête d'or. And now I know what I missed during one year! The parc de Gerland offers everything you might want for a family&friends picnic: big trees offering their shade, picnic tables if you prefer to not seat on the ground, games for kids, huge area to lie in the grass and get tanned, a sportive area, a roller area, a small mere with some ducks... And what amazed me the most: there was so much free space! A sunny Sunday afternoon! (That means no queue to the toilets, unlike the parc de la tête d'or.) I will definitively plan to go there for my future picnics this summer!
