It was a very knowledgeable, interactive and interesting experience. If you're into spy related things, this is for you. It covers history and stories of previous spies and their backgrounds. Take your time and make sure you immerse yourself in the experience! In the end you will find out what your special role would be in the spy world. This museum has so much potential. Unfortunately, due to the inadequate explanation of how the experience was supposed to work, I was confused and disinterested throughout my time in Spyscape. Right off the bat, the employees did not seem to know what was going on. We stood around for about ten minutes, followed by a far too quiet and far too lacking explanation of what we were supposed to do. The museum has these digital stations set up around it and you're supposed to follow arrows on the floor to each one, scan a bracelet for each station? I really wasn't sure and had to guess at what I was doing. Initially, I did not mind, because I loved reading the bits of information on the walls and seeing the pieces of spyware. Lo and behold, the digital stations were really important to the "end goal" of the experience: finding out which type of spy you are. Oh well. All in all, although this museum was touted as a "#1 rated NYC experience" (or something like that), the operation is poorly executed and explained. I definitely had some fun or cool moments, but I'd much rather have spent my lost hour or so walking around the city. Would not recommend and will not return. read more

I didn't go to spyscape the second time. I ended up just going to check out spygames instead. It reminds me of this place with a chain/ franchise called activate. Where you form groups and play these interactive games. Before you go in, you are briefed by the people who work there, and you check in on a tablet. Also, they have individual lockers for you to use if you'd like. There is a restroom right by the lockers, so there is no need to find one elsewhere at spyscape. It is a separate charge, and in order to play the game, you need a bracelet that has a chip inside of it. No phones allowed while you're there. But you won't have time to use your phones so that's fine. I would like to go back with more people as some of these games you can earn more points with a larger team and advance to a better status. read more

While this place may seem like a cheap little Museum and Art Exhibit / gimmick I can assure you that it is anything but! Right from the get-go the sheer amount of interesting spy history and information you can see is staggering. Who knew there was so many little things that a spy can utilize to make it as if they're not even watching you. When it comes to this exhibit and Museum there are an insane amount of little Hands-On things that you can do such as testing how you would be when it comes to being a spy as well as trying to get from one end of a room to the other moving around and twisting yourself like a pretzel to avoid little lasers that add time on to your final score when you hit the button on the other wall. The staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable and answered every question that I had when I was interested to learn more about a certain piece of history or Gadget that I saw! We came as a group of 5 for the beta testing of spy games and had so much fun racing to hit buttons while avoiding lasers, climbing walls, and jumping to targets. Overall I think they are still working out some kinks in the rooms but for $20 pp it was an enjoyable Saturday night activity and the staff there are all really helpful and nice. If you come wear sneakers and light clothing, it can get really warm when you're running around frantically! read more

NYC's @spyscape is the perfect indoor activity for all ages. It has two areas to choose from Spy Games are games that test your spy skills. Each room has an instruction tablet outside where you can see how physical or mental the game will be. There are puzzles , lasers and everything you could think of when imagining a spy school. I think the only thing missing was a shooting range. Like I said in the video, you are jumping and moving around a lot so be sure to wear something comfortable Spy Scape is the museum side. They take us on a journey through the years of espionage and how things have changed and progressed over the years. You answer questions, complete tasks and they even have a laser room here too to test your agility. At the end you get a full profile detailing your scores, attributes and the spy role you'd excel in ‍I am suited to be a surveillance officer but other roles include hackers, special ops, intelligence ops, agent handler and so much more. Came to spyscape years ago though at the time it wasn't as interactive. That one had a lot of items and reading; more of a museum-like which got tiring and overwhelming. Now there are 8 interactive activities including brain questions, challenges, and personality questions plus 2 tests and sufficient reading that is enough information. It took us about 2 hours from start to finish. If you purchase your ticket online, you save a few dollars than as a walk-in buyer. After you check-in, you receive a band that will store /retrieve your profile. You follow the blue light line on the floor and go on your adventure. At the end your profile reveals what kind of spy career you might have. Have fun. read more

TLDR: super fun and unique experience. Perfect for family and friends visiting or even a date. Overall I thought this experience was extremely fun. There are several tasks in every section of the museum - fun pattern games, personality questionnaires, and physical activity tests and at the end they determine what kind of spy would best suit you based on your performance on every activity! In each section, there is also information and history in previous spies. Came here on a weekday with friends and it was not super busy. There were lockers at the entrance that can be accessed with the wristbands provided for each guest. Took my boyfriend here and really loved how interactive the experience is here. You have quizzes you respond to throughout the museum and you find out at the end what job you'd have in the spy game. You can answer the questions online for your spy profile but I recommend just doing it here. The overall experience took us about 3 hours. There was also a Batman experience that cost extra and I've heard that's it's own experience. Overall--was it worth the price? I'd say it was. It was pretty fun, learned a lot, and it makes for a great date spot. I went to Spyscape as a Beta tester. The two challenges we performed were exciting, but there were glitches. Meanwhile, the rest of the obstacles were not working. Therefore we did not get to do anything for 40 minutes. We only had an hour booked. I am very disappointed. Now they want me to come back as a Beta tester and pay for their services. Yet I was promised to have the ability to come back for free due to the horrible circumstances. I would love to hear back from someone. read more

Plan to spend at least 90 minutes exploring the museum, though you could easily take longer depending on how engaged you get with each activity. I recommend giving it a 2 hour time plan. There's a lot to learn about the world of spies, and even kids who weren't initially interested ended up having a great time. The games are fun, physically engaging, and refreshingly different. Each session lasts 50 minutes and can be quite the workout! Tickets sell out fast, so it's best to purchase them in advance and arrive early. If you miss your time slot, you may be out of luck for the rest of the day. One heads-up: the room layout and instructions can be a bit confusing at first, and not all staff members are as helpful as you might hope--so expect a spending some time figuring things out when you start. read more

What a fun and interesting experience! We did the two attraction pass which was their spy museum plus a Batman experience. We started with the spy museum side, which was a lot bigger than I originally thought! There were computers set up in each of the room where you would do a challenge like math questions, problem solving questions, little games, etc and it would keep score. Each of the rooms had interesting things to learn about like malware, encryption, decryption, just a ton of different spy things. One of the challenges taught you how to tell if someone was lying and your challenge was to watch a tape and mark if you thought they lied. Another challenge had a dozen (problem more) surveillance cameras all on at once and you had to find different people from the videos. Then there was the laser challenge, which was honestly so cool. My coworkers and I did 3 out of the 4 rooms and honestly gave it our all, slipping, sliding and rolling around in there to not hit the lasers. We got on the leaderboard all three times, but one of my coworkers ripped his pants it was a blast. The Batman experience was so exciting and you could tell a lot of work went into it. It was interactive with your phone and you would chat with an AI who was guiding you through the experience. It was very interactive and not to give it away but you get to help save the day! 10/10 was so glad we stopped and did this! read more

This museum is seriously a pretty rad place if you're into espionage and spy stuff. It's good for big groups where if people want to go to a museum but some people in the group don't like the traditional museums. The exhibits were pretty interactive and hands out. We did activities that test our skills in areas like physical fitness, surveillance, and problem-solving. And the best part? They actually analyze your performance and assign you to a specific spy role, which is pretty cool. It took us about 60-90 minutes to complete the whole museum. Overall, I would recommend SpyScaped to anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience. The museum does an amazing job of making history come alive and I left feeling entertained, enlightened, and just a little bit like a spy myself! This is definitely an attraction/activity, NOT a museum. If you go in expecting it to be like the Spy Museum in DC, you'll be disappointed. Pros: - Not super crowded, even in summer. - The interactive challenges. You scan your bracelet and can participate in seven different interactive activities, like a laser corridor, lie detection, surveillance. They were interesting enough for our 8yo and the grownups. Cons: - The price. So expensive for what you get. - The "museum". Not many artifacts on display, and that which is on display is all replica movie props and costumes from spy movies, not real tradecraft tools. - The Batman immersive experience. Needs an app on your phone, directions are unclear, and if you're not engaged in roleplaying it just isn't entertaining. We tried, but it wasn't for us. SPYSCAPE is okay if you're looking for interactive entertainment - if you're looking for more of a museum experience, there are better options in the city. read more

We did our research and went with Spyscape because of the good reviews over the other interactive museums and immersive experiences in New York. I'm a 55 year old guy and took four 18-22 years there. Very well done museum BUT it really lacked the element of fun. It's more of a brain challenge and you essentially run around to these kiosks answering questions on a small screen. The museum offers great spy memorabilia and history but it doesn't tie into a central story line or narrative that I was hoping it would have (like an escape room). There's only one physical activity, the laser room, which was fun but it could have used more things like that. The kids liked it a bit better but they agreed it just wasn't as fun as we were hoping. read more

I had never been to Spyscape, so I didn't know what to expect, but it was fun! I really enjoyed going through the interactive exhibits and playing all of the games, and creating my own spy profile. I channeled my inner Carmen Cortez to solve each riddle and complete each quest. Overall I really had a great time and enjoyed the experience. That Monday was also Storybook Monday which meant they gave out a free book with each ticket purchase. I also got a reward on the yelp app after I had checked in, which was a camera cover sticker for my computer and phone. The employees were really nice and helpful too. Exceeded expectations!! Had a wonderful time with my sister (two adults) Each person gets a bracelet which is your ID to get theu all the tests and missions. The museum is super interactive and immersive. One really gets very engaged and takes in what an spy does! I don't want to share spoilers but I 100% recommended it if you want to have 1.5h-2h fun! Kids under 5 are free but I honestly would recommend going with kids over 8 or so so they really get what they are doing as well as the tests. Tip: tickets bought online are $5 cheaper than the ones onsite. We bought them basically in their lobby just in front of the ticketing area lol read more

I bought the "sightseeing pass" and this was one of the attractions that was included. I had no idea what it was before going but my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's an espionage and spy museum and attraction. You walk through it and read about various spies, technology and historical situations. All the while, you stop at various stations and answer questions and take small tests. At the end, they tell you what you might be very good at. Code breaking? Agent handler? Special ops? Etc. This was an extremely interesting two hours and I learned a lot about espionage. There is a library and a gift shop as well. The employees are very pleasant and play along very well. The building is extremely clean, bright and clean. If you are in NYC and spy history and technology interests you, make sure you stop here. My bride and I loved it. read more

I had a packed itinerary for our 4 days in NYC that didn't include Spyscape. However we had a bit of time to kill after lunch and noticed on Yelp this was nearby. My 11 year old read a few reviews and insisted we had to go. I highly recommend adding this to any nyc itineraries for kids ages 8+ because she had the most amazing time. There's a lot of history about spies and so many fun interactive spy games. We were there for hours and she would probably still be there a day later if I didn't drag her out. My mom and I enjoyed the experience as well. I think it isn't really geared towards younger kids (I can't see my 6 year old being able to do much), but a must for older kids. read more

Waste of time and money. You are given a total of 50 minutes, which begins once you scan into your first game. Games last 1 min and 30 seconds. We spent about 20 minutes total playing games, and 30 minutes total waiting on lines to play those games. Not worth your time, don't listen to the positive reviews. Fun and educational experience, though I think it's definitely pricey. Super high tech and all so I get it, but from a consumer standpoint the experience might not be entirely worth it. Souvenir area at the end is one of the more fair souvenir stores I've seen at any museum or entertainment place though. Some items might still be on the pricier end, but a majority feels more standard. You start by getting a spy bracelet that contains a scanning chip personalized to you. It has your name as you provided when registering and will be used to keep track of your results. In addition to lots of reading artifacts, photo captions, and other text, there are videos walking through history and interactive experiences. Interactive experiences are 8 mini games as well as 3 larger experiences. The mini games are more like short questionnaires or brain activities. The larger experiences are lie detector, surveillance, and laser room. Without spoilers, I'll provide a general summary of the larger experiences below. Lie detector - enter a room and learn about the most common ways to determine a lie before walking through three interactions and judging them. Surveillance - put on a headset and try to call out certain camera views out of 36 or so screens in four corners A, B, C, and D. December 2021 - COVID Review: My husband and I chose this as one of our attractions for our Go City Pass. Although it's located much further north from Times Square and other touristy attractions, I think it's well worth the trip since it was a really fun and interactive experience! When you first arrive, they give you bracelets that you can use to create your "spy profile" and stylus pens to use on the touchscreens. The elevator ride is your "spy briefing" and the floors are marked with arrows so that you know where to go next. At the very end, you enter a room to get a full synopsis of all the info they've gathered of you as a spy. I kinda wish the visit was a bit longer since the Go City Pass was valid for the basic experience, but it was still fun to see all the different exhibits and play the games from your phone! read more

We wanted to do something fun, but out of the cold. This place did not disappoint and was amazing!!! We didn't read anything about it so went into it blind really not knowing what it was about or what to expect or how anything worked at all, lol. When you get there you are assigned a bracelet based on what you paid for, we paid for the tour package. So you get assigned a locker where you can put your stuff (locker key is all on your bracelet band). Then you get to watch a lil intro video and wait for your tour guide. At that point you are told what to do and there are a bunch of lil kiosks that you can scan your band into and then they tell you what you should do. You have the option to control what you do in your phone or in the diff rooms you visit. All the rooms are for diff kinds of spy categories and you can go in order or go however you want. There are short games, puzzles, and quizzes throughout the rooms and in your phone, all of which is to help determine what kind of spy you would be and what role you would play. This whole thing seems like a lot but it's not! It is super fun and if you have any interest in this genre or even if you don't YOU WILL HAVE SO MUCH FUN!!! The only thing that wasn't so great is that they need better arrows/directions on the floors on where to go bc it gets confusing, so maybe adding some words next to arrows on where to go from which room to which would help. read more

Spygames is such a cool experience! When we got there we had to leave all of our things in a locker and we were given wristbands. Then we checked in and were free to go from room to room doing things like avoiding lasers, throwing things, and jumping. You earn points when you do things correctly for each room and then there's a leaderboard outside. It was honestly one of the most fun things I've done in the city. This is for spygames. Me and my bf had a very fun time here. We're both super competitive so best believe we went all out. It gave us a nice rush of adrenaline which left us out of breath after . A few mishaps occurred though. #1 When we were standing in line for one of the games we tried to scan our wristbands so we could go next but the light turned red indicating that it couldn't read our wristbands. Come to find out we didn't check ourselves in in another room before we entered the game zone. But we didn't know what that room was for since it was no one there so we assumed it was non important. Imo it was very easy to miss and there should be a worker there to assist people just coming in. #2 Another thing is when we were leaving we tried to get our stuff out of the locker but we couldn't open it even after scanning our wristbands. I had to get a worker to help us out. Idk if this has happened to anyone else but if it has then something should be done about that. #3 When we finished with the games, we went to the 1st floor to get our wristbands taken off as we were told that someone would assist us with that. We went to this lady (don't know her name) who had a less than pleasant attitude. She had this sort of cutter in her hand which was used to cut off the wristbands. She told me to hold my wristband so she could cut it, I didn't hear her the first time and just held out my hand and she said "you gotta hold it" in a not so pleasing tone. I was kinda caught off guard but I dismissed it. Then she moved on to my boyfriend and told him to hold the wristband so she could cut it. Just like me he didn't hear her so he just held out his hand to which she said "you gotta hold it sir", again with a very nasty attitude. Idk if she was having a bad day but that's not how you speak to people especially in your place of work. She could've been nicer to us but like I said maybe she was having a bad day.
