Ask the Community - Springwell Church

Are there services every Sunday?

Does your church have a transportation service to go to church? I'm disabled in a wheelchair and new to the Greenville area and looking for a church home here, but currently not driving while I learn to walk with a prosthesis. Thank you! Sharon McGee

No. Sorry, Sharon. We don't offer transportation services.

I did not attend services and I do not have a child in schooling here. Instead, I was drawn to the…read morehistorical marker in front of this large and imposing church structure. The marker reads, "Taylors First Baptist Church traces its origins to the years of the American Civil War. The church organized as Chick Springs Church on August 28, 1864 at the conclusion of a week of camp meetings. The congregation first met near the Chick Springs area. Alfred Taylor was the first clerk. Dr. James C. Furman, first president of Furman University, was pastor 1867-1870." And on the reverse, "In 1873 the Atlanta & Richmond Air-Line Railway completed its new line, which included a depot on land owned by Alfred Taylor. In 1884 the congregation voted to move their church to a new location nearer the depot. The original building was deconstructed and rebuilt at the new location in 1885, and the church was renamed Taylors Church. The oldest extant building on the current campus was built in 1922." There is of course plenty of parking (unless you're here during services) to view the marker and walk the campus. [Review 19508 overall - 1079 in South Carolina - 478 of 2023.]

This is a great loving and welcoming church that provides many options for participation in a…read morevariety of programs, activities, missions and service to the community. Just take a look at their web page and take the time to visit a few times. This church provides so much to the community such as working to improve the Taylor's community with Taylor's days, a free medical clinic, family support, recreational activities and a rec center (workout room, walking track, exercise classes, basketball courts and pickleball), youth programs, a top-notch staff and a variety of worship choices. TFBC has 3 different style services to choose: traditional with classical hymns; a modern band led service with more contemporary music; and a service with a blend of both modern and traditional. I noticed the three other reviews on here with three or less stars which provide no specific facts about their actual experience or interaction with the church, congregation or staff except opinions based upon a historical marker sign or a belief there is too much Trumpism (definitely not the case as I along with others I fellowship are not of those beliefs. Like any organization, however, you will find people with varying political beliefs. I for one have never heard politics from the pulpit or any program). The third review appears to be an angry parent with a broad generalized statment demonstrating she is upset because her child may have been removed from the pre-school (which is what all schools, daycares and preschool programs do if you dont follow the rules). Hardly credible reviews for someone to base any decision on whether to visit or not.
