Pros: - The rooms are large and stocked with dishes and everything you need to feel more like you're at home. - There's a small fridge with a real freezer that is really nice to have when you're here for several days. - The rooms are always very clean and common areas are nice. - There's lots of storage for your stuff. - There's lots of outlets and places to charge devices. - The staff is very nice. - The parking is great. - The hotel has a fantastic location that is central to everything and in a nice area of town. Cons: - The breakfast is blah. They need a complete overhaul on most of the breakfast items. The raspberry-blueberry mix must be frozen because as it thaws, it turns to mush. The meats are just gross with weird looking 'bacon' and sausage that is not good. The French Toast is dry and the other items in the warmer are meh. Breakfast isn't a deal breaker, but it is something they can improve upon. - The water pressure in the shower is pretty low. It takes forever to wash shampoo and conditioner out of your hair. - The Internet was slow during this trip. It hasn't been in the past, so it might have just been this time. The pros definitely outweigh the cons and I would recommend Home 2 Suites to anyone looking for a nice and comfortable stay in Wichita.

Recumbent bike, TRX, balls, foam roller, etc. Discount on Starbucks Discount on breakfast Bar in lobby Comfy bed Digital key worked and updated with late checkout Low lighting in room (this may be a con to some people but it's a pro for me). The one negative was the street noise at night. The noise of the cars but especially the motorcycles reverberates off the buildings and was amplified up in the room. I can't hear in one ear so with my good ear in the pillow the problem was solved for me. You might want to consider ear plugs if you stay here. The motorcycles seem to want to rev up extra and make even more noise. Later in the night it sounded like cars and motorcycles were racing up and down the street. I should say that I stayed over a weekend. The noise issue at night might be different in the middle of the week. I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit. I can get pass the noise issue.

A preferred hotel for our company when in Wichita, I decided to give this a try…read more The thing about historic hotels is that they often have a very charming facade, lobby and common areas that shine through but once you get in the elevator, the charm can quickly wear off. Not at all true with this Ambassador Hotel. Located in the historic area of downtown Wichita, this Ambassador Hotel is located in what appears to be the newly emerging biomedical campus under construction next door. The portico and lobby are very inviting and decorated to give you the full holiday experience. The front desk attendant wasn't exactly charming at 11pm but she wasn't rude either. She was a bit distracted with her night audit work but got me checked in and upgraded and off to my room in short order. I had room 1010 and I would highly recommend this room any time you stay. This is a multi-room suite with a full living room, a dressing suite with dual vanities and a jacuzzi tub, separate shower and a master bedroom that was quite large with a walk-in closet. So much space for one person! I contemplated cancelling my other reservations and stay there all week, but I didn't. Lots of windows allowing sunlight in the morning and a mini bar with snacks if you have the munchies and want to pay top dollar for the option to eat and drink at your leisure. The hotel has a restaurant and bar and I believe it seems they are well-reviewed although I don't visit either. Parking is in the multi-story parking deck adjacent to the building and likely serves multiple businesses in the area. I think it was $18, no biggee. The only thing that I was cringing over was the sofa. Lighter colored fabric showed off some definite staining that made me want to avoid at all costs. Everything else seemed clean and well cared for. I'm going to give it a four star review for now and try it again another time to see if it deserves more.

From the moment we checked in, we were treated as though we were the only ones in the hotel. The room we chose had a beautiful bath, and they provided bath salts, which was so kind we will be back for another staycation

To say this area of town is overrun by homeless people is an understatement. The only reason we…read moreconsidered staying here is because of affordability, but mainly proximity to the hospital for a family member in ICU. Let's start with Check in. The AC was broken with no ETA on being fixed in the middle of the summer (95+ degrees). Ok things happen... however there was a schizophrenic homeless women in the lobby camped out on the couch with her trash bags. When we asked if this was normal... the person manning the front desk told us "we're in downtown, what do you expect?" Hmmm... red flag. (More to come) The hotel in pics looks updated but don't be fooled, it's decrepit and as you can see filthy and dated. ie. Paint slathered over mold in the shower. The pillows are a bunch of mini decorative squares. Think airplane sized travel pillows. Hallways wreak of cigarettes and urine. No cars in the parking lot which is a plus, but it's pretty obvious why now. Be sure to check your door is latched because it will not catch if you just close it... yes we didn't use a key to first open our musty room. One outlet on one side the bed. When we arrived to our hotel at night after dinner, there was a homeless man loitering at the front door making everyone walking in uncomfortable. The room key security door to get in the front is broken so no real safeguard. We take the elevator and start walking to our room... another homeless man comes out of the stairwell and follows us to our room begging for change. At this point, wow not even safe in the hotel hallways. Called the front desk and she said she would get security. Hah! Joke was there is no guard as we saw her get out of the elevator a few minutes later. I would say you get what you pay for but this is a disgusting last resort motel. Shame on management for false advertisement, faulty operations, and nonexistent security. PS: It's comical they ask you for your car and license plate "in case your lights are left on"... nope, surely it's to know who to contact once your car gets broken in to. Oh yeah the stairwell is a junkyard of old A/C units.

Worst Hotel Experience of My Life:…read more I was on the BART airport train, within minutes of the SFO airport to fly to Wichita. Then I got a call from the hotel. They said the main water pipe had broken and that there was no water in the hotel, so anyone coming to the hotel would have no water for showers, baths, toilets, sinks, coffee-makers, etc. The problem was that I'd gotten an amazing deal on that room that can't be replicated. Also, the rooms downtown are usually more expensive than the hotels at the perimeter of the city. Downtown is the only walkable part. The reason being downtown mattered so much to me is that I'm unable to drive due to being on too many medications, so it was downtown or bust for me. The Wichita transit system is so primitive that it doesn't even run at night; so if I'd gone out to dinner downtown, there would be no way back. The bottom line was that anyplace but downtown would have meant I'd have had to spend another fortune on Uber to get anywhere. Of course, other people know all this, so the downtown rooms tend to sell out quickly, leaving only the most frightening hotels to rent from. So now I was being told, as my train rushed to the airport (in fact I was still on the phone with the hotel as I entered the airport) that not only was I losing my place downtown, but the nearest decent rooms still available with no notice were clear on the far eastern side of town where most transit doesn't even reach and where, again, it would be all Ubers to get home at night. Neither the hotel nor Uber did anything to try to get me a similar deal, but both said that I'd have to cancel the first deal, hope a refund would eventually be issued, on faith; and then pay the completely unreserved, new rates, for a good downtown hotel while arriving at midnight; and that would have been an additional thousands of dollars I didn't have. So the whole vacation was lost as there was no way I could show up at the Wichita airport at midnight with no way of knowing where I would stay, especially since I didn't have a car. And I can't imagine what it would cost to have Uber driving me around as I frantically got on the booking app or called hotels asking for a miracle deal without any notice. My airline was a non-cancel flight; so although I eventually got my money back for the room, I'm paying $430 for a flight I never got to take. Again, I would have went through with the trip if the hotel or Expedia had guaranteed me a similar price for a similar room in a similar location. But they just insisted that I go onto the app and shop around as if the old deal had never existed. So they wouldn't do anything for me, and, furthermore, in the middle of the night I was expected to go hotel shopping with no car, or by paying private cars with no way of knowing where the total costs would have ended up. So, other than a refund of what would prove to be a fraction of the amount I'd need to cold-book a same-night reservation at the most expensive part of the city on a crowded night where things were selling out - - they just offered no help. So I was dumped with no recourse available to save my trip. So weeks later I'm still paying, and will be paying, for this $430 in airlines I never got to take, not because of the airlines, but because of the hotel and Expedia not being able to come up with a way to save my trip. So I lost the trip I'd been dreaming of and was left with a $430 bill to pay. I have never been through such a thing in any of my travels.

The hotel is conveniently located in downtown Wichita with close proximity to the Riverwalk for a great running/walking location and just a chance to get out for some air after travel time in the car. We spotted a sailboat at the Riverwalk, which was actually the winning Americas Cup yacht - America 3 which was fun being this far away from any ocean!! Nearby restaurants are plentiful and the hotel is within walking distance to the historic area. The hotel itself is immaculate. Did not spot one maintenance issue in any of the areas that I observed, and I always peek into all of them! Business center includes two working computers, and a printer. The breakfast area was spotless and fully stocked, even though we were there near closing time; included hand sanitizer before entering the food area. Love that ! The swimming pool was wonderful with a number of indoor seating areas so you can come in from the cold and just enjoy. Very large fitness room with a number of excellent pieces of equipment and a full weight set. Fitness center was also stocked with equipment wipes and towels, as well as filtered water. Our room, which was a little on the smaller side, was perfectly appointed with a work area, refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. Large bathroom and large closet made for a very pleasant stay. We were informed that this particular location was awarded recognition by the Marriott corporation for being in the top tier of their hotels. There is plenty of covered and open area parking nearby and the rates at this location were very reasonable. Highly recommend this hotel for a stay anytime.
