We were lucky to spot the Britz Mill when it was open for visitors. A charming elderly miller…read morewearing clogs (as this is a mill of Dutch type!) showed us around and explained how it all works. App. 2 t flour are produced here yearly, mostly by hobby-millers, who volunteer to keep the mill active and in a good shape. The are several bakeries in Berlin which bake bread with this particular flour and it can be also bought in the mill itself. Not sure where it exactly came from, but the whole garden around the mill was fulled with the scent of freshly baked bread - wonderful!
There is a small gastronomy next to the mill, we haven't tried it out, but it looked nice.
Surely a nice place for a relaxed afternoon and a very inspiring local initiative, helping to preserve this 150 year old monument and even keep it useful!
