The people there are nice but the after tan was not good and when I contacted the place, with pictures, a day after my spray tan to voice my concerns on how the tan did not turn out they asked me what I did wrong! I'm not really a very vain or appearance-focused person, but I'm also not immune to curiosity, or to trying new things. I was headed for a wedding, and had been feeling run down in the weeks prior. Considering that my complexion is so light that sometimes people ask "are you OK?!" under normal circumstances, I figured that I would take a chance, do something pretty out of character for me, and try the very ever-so-lightest spray tan I could try. I was apprehensive. What if something went wrong? What if it was too dark? What if it was awkward? I was going for a "hey, I'm not an apparition!" look -- not a organge-y Lohan look. Well, Carissa (Spray-Chic's owner) was very sweet -- both in addressing my worries and making me feel comfortable during the process itself. My experience was very similar to Kelley's... even though I'm very light, the "winter glow" did end up looking very natural, and didn't cause any complications with my sensitive skin. I often appear as a ghost in photos, and this time, I didn't appear as Casper-ish as I usually do when posed next to more moderately-complected folks at the celebration. Another unexpected side-benefit? I usually bruise very easily, but even the light tan helped me not to look so black-and-blueish. It's probably not something that I would do regularly, but honestly, it made me feel like I had a more of a glow than a pallor, and sometimes in the gray gloom of Michigan winter, that counts for something that's more than simply cosmetic! read more

This was the first time I've ever gotten spray tanned, of course I've attempted doing self tanners and ended up looking ridiculous in the past like a majority of the population but that was the extent. I was nervous going in with a stranger seeing my plus size physique but Carissa was very sweet, kind and personable, her warmth radiates and truly set me at ease. Has it really been 7 years since I first reviewed SprayChic Airbrush Tanning?! As the other now 50+ reviews attest, this is without a doubt the best spray tan experience. Carissa has created a spray tan business that is client driven with a keen attention to detail. It's the little things like having hair ties, private rooms, applying your barrier cream with care and brilliant spraying of the actual tan. Today Carissa even asked to do a little contour on my cheekbones - hello! amazing! The color is always natural looking with no weird post tan smell or feel. I also used the Novell exfoliator pre-tan and will use the body lotion and wash post-tan. The products have a nice scent and feel great. I have been almost everywhere in the metro detroit area trying to find the perfect spray tan and here it is! First off the women who work here are GREAT. They put time and effort into your spray and literally get every little nook and cranny. Not to get into specifics but literally everywhere was perfectly tan. This was my first spray tan and Im not super in shape. I was immediately intimated by baring it all but staff made it very comfortable. They were friendly and kept me chatting to distract. My friend came along and unfortunately when we were done and went to drive home her tan sweated off all over the passenger seat. I would strongly recommend staying in front of the fan after being sprayed as long as possible. We have the air on full blast in the car and it still spread. Perhaps long pants would be better. The tan itself was as even and a perfect glow as requested. It did turn darker and more orange as the days went on but seemed to tone down after waiting almost 48 hours to shower. The only part both my friend and I could not get over was the tiny dots on our legs where your hair follicles are - it made us look like we had really course hair and was unsightly to wear the short dress I had planned for the party we were attending. In addition as the tan faded, it did in sections so it looked like tiny little stretch marks on my stomach for days pushing me to wear a one piece at the pool. Overall, this tan was great for an occasion, but the maintenance would be too much for me on a regulat basis. read more

Instructions are easy to follow, and the technicians are very easy to talk to making you feel very comfortable. This is the first review I've written but I had to share my experiences hoping it will help others who are also apprehensive about spray tans! First, the color of the tan turns out amazing. I've been twice now and am a redhead with very fair skin so I'm always very nervous about a tan coming out orange (that has happened a lot). I get the personalized spray by an associate and they make you feel SO comfortable. Second, the whole staff is so so nice. I had to call to change my appointment 3 times and they're so accommodating. Third, The owner Carissa is AMAZING! I told her my apprehension about spray tans being a redhead. She assured me she could customize a tan that I would be comfortable with and said she would spray me herself being that she is a redhead as well and even squeezed me in really late one time. I had an appt last night with Dennis for a facial tan and this morning I'm glowing as beautiful as the sun. I already have somewhat of a tan complexion with yellow undertones but during winter you'll never know it. I could no longer wait for summer so I decided to give spraychic a try. You make an appointment and they confirm for you online, you are greeted by the tanning consultant when you first arrive, and they have super private rooms to do the spraying.
