Went here years ago before we moved away. Now we're back and doing fall yard work. Replacing some bushes and remembered they had a pretty fair selection and variety of plants. Gave them a call to check availability of what I wanted and they confirmed they had several varieties of it. Stopped in to check them out and they were all very nice plants. Went home to measure one last time and returned the next day to pick them up. The lady was very help answering questions about each variety. Got them home and we are more than happy we called them. They were about half the price we found at other nurseries and were in better shape. Very satisfied and would highly recommend this business. read more

Great quality plants at good prices, wonderful selection of shrubs and perennials, today there was a great person to assist us

they did a good job on my landscaping but didn't give me proper instructions. I asked about an irrigation system and they said to water the trees for a couple weeks. Then we had a drought for 6 weeks and everything died. I lost $2000 because there was no way I could have kept them alive without an irrigation system. They have said for several months they would fix it but no one ever gives me a resolution. my yard was the most important thing to me when I bought a house and that investment was a total waste. If someone invests that much money into plants they need to be given a brochure on how to protect the plants, how to care for them and if an irrigation system is requested they should be able to recommend when its needed (summer) read more

This place has a nice layout and a sufficiently wide selection of bushes and trees that all look well cared for. Sections of plants (not individual plants) are labeled with the plant's name, approximate size at maturity, water needs, bloom season and color. Unfortunately, not all plants are labeled, and the customer service (if you can find them) is a little meh. read more

I contacted Spivey's Nursery at the recommendation of someone who formerly worked at Price Nursery. I asked for recommendations for shrubs to be planted in an area with morning shade and full afternoon sun. Spivey's selected camellia japonica for this site. I spent $1,000+ on this project. Needless to say almost all of the camellias died. One of the 10 is okay, and two are clinging to life. Spivey's does not stand behind its word, work or recommendations. I was told there was a one-year guarantee. This did not pan out to be true. I strongly recommend that no one use this nursery. My experience did not show Spivey's to be reputable. read more

Owner's spoiled son flew up the driveway yelling at us for looking at their trees that I had inquired about only briefly beforehand. My wife and I tried to just be calm about it at first and ask a question about the trees we were interested in. He ignored our questions and just decided to act like a jerk and compared themselves to Walmart stating that " you can't go looking around in Walmart when they are closed"... He claimed they were closed when we arrived at 4:39 when their business hours are supposedly till 5:00. Doesn't really seem like they are big on customer service or neighborliness here. I guess his dad doesn't know he closes early maybe that's why he was so mad! read more

Went to there website on Tue. Said they are open from 8-5. Got there at 12. Both gates were open and I drove in. I chose 2 plants and put them beside my truck. Went to the shed to pay and a sign on the door said they will be back at 1. I have already driven to the nursery. Spent time picking out 2 plants. So I left a note on the door and told them I will call them that same afternoon to pay them by credit card. I called at 1:50pm. 50 min after they were supposed to reopen. I saw no reason to drive all the way home and then back again to pay and waste gas. I called them and the woman who answered called me a thief and banned me from coming back. Of course I did not take this well. I gave her my cc number and told her exactly what I had picked up. And this woman accuses me of being a thief. You think that someone who was responsible enough to call them and pay for 2 items this nursery would not be so rude and call you a thief. Screw them. If that is their attitude then great, I will take my business elsewhere. They should also update their hours telling folks who drive all the way to their nursery that they close from 12-1. I have been to this nursery twice. The first time was last spring and my experience was great. Loved the plant selections and prices. The lady at the front desk was nice and friendly. Went again yesterday, wanting buy plants for my natural fence- business worth up to $1000. This time, there was another lady at the front desk. She was super rude, snippy and disrespectful. I am So offended by the way she treated me. She was so rude that even my 6 year old could tell. I walked away feeling horrible.Im looking for a different nursery. read more

Highly recommend. We ordered fifty wax myrtle bushes. Very reasonable price and great quality. All plants were delivered in excellent condition on the same day. The lady in the office also kindly explained how to plant the bushes. Definitely, we will shop there again. read more

I found spivey's Nursery by chance when passing through that end of town. My husband and I made a couple of trips out there to buy several different kinds of plants. I was really excited because of the large number of plants and very reasonable price. However we purchased a peony tree which I never heard of that was to be harder than a regular Penny Bush and conducive to this area. I planted it in the fall with all the special soil and fertilizer considerations and even put a wire cage about it so it could not be disturbed by any of the animals. When it didn't come up I was rather disappointed so I called to ask about the guarantee. I was told there was no guarantee when I asked about even a partial differential to say try again or buy another plant I was told that they could not do that. I spoke to the owner about the fact that he deals with several landscapers and I'm sure when they buy hundreds of dollars worth of bushes that if one or several do not come up that as per a gentleman's agreement that certain considerations are made in order to keep them coming back. He said that they couldn't control the weather and it would be too hard to keep up with that sort of thing so no warranty. He did however suggest a more expensive plant but I told him that I couldn't afford to pay even more money for something that was not guaranteed and may not come up.
