Sedge Garden Nursery - would like to know the name of plant and how to care for it

I miss this place…read more Before it closed to the public, Sedge Garden Nursery was a longtime member of the community, and had a great selection of plants, shrubs and flowers. Everything we've gotten from there (except for the witch hazel that I accidentally stepped on, and 2 azaleas that died after their first winter was too harsh) has flourished, most especially our ginkgo, ram's horn willow, Japanese maples and okame cherry tree. And we still have 6 of the 8 azaleas we got from here. They guaranteed whatever they planted for one year, but we only had them plant one thing. Everything else, Earl and I planted ourselves, and hey, it still worked out. (Obviously if you plant something and don't do what you're supposed to do, it's not guaranteed; this isn't a big box store.) My only beef with this place is because they were understaffed, they hardly ever picked up the phone, and they didn't even really notify customers that they were closing the nursery to the public. It's still unclear to me if they do landscaping, lawn maintenance, or if they pick up their phone now.

I have bought plants from said Garden nursery in the past with very excellent experiences however I…read morerecently bought some butterfly bushes from them. When I bought them they look dead but the lady there assured me that they weren't dead but they were dormant and that they would pop back up. I've been watering them every day and have not seen any improvement when I called to ask the lady that helped me answered the phone. I told her about the issue and she told me it was my fault for not watering them correct correctly and they don't replace plants. I will never shop at sedge garden nursery again or recommend them and as a matter of fact I will deter people from using them in the future.

I came here for some extensive landscaping work on my yard and met with one of the owners who…read moredeveloped a preliminary project plan. After reviewing the plan, I tried communicating via email, but got no response even though he had requested this method himself. Finally, I called and got one of his co-workers who was a well-known local garden columnist. In discussing the project plan, it quickly became apparent that the owner had mislead me about doing the work in late Spring rather than Fall, especially the lawn renovation. I never heard from him again. Months later, the other owner/ brother was doing some work for my neighbor when he accosted me as I was leaving and started threatening that I LEGALLY had to have some additional work done on my yard for drainage and runoff. Despite telling him that I was working with his brother on a separate project plan, this man of moderate stature with a severe Napoleon's complex said that he could care less what his brother was doing. Upon leaving, I called my neighbor and relayed my experience. He could not believe it as he said he had just been out there and specifically told the brother/owner what he wanted and what he absolutely did not want, including making any modifications to my adjoining yard which they seemed to be doing regardless. My neighbor's work was eventually completed at great cost, and a few years later, much of the work has quickly fallen into varying degrees of disrepair.
