Visiting friends for the past week we were passing so popped in here on a Friday evening. Such a shame as a decent sized place from the outside. We walked in and the place was pretty much dead, well about 6 people in who made you feel about as welcome as an extra off a zombie movie! Okay, it's off the track but still on a busy road. We stayed for one but my friends assured me it does get better. So after a good night on the town on Saturday we went back there on the Sunday. It was a Karaoke/disco type of event. Told this happens every week?
There were a lot more people in but VERY much in their packs, stay clear or get a load of verbal for no reason! I'm 20 stone and a bit of a rough nut so never feel intimidated but this place is simply if your not a regular, of which I assume in the week is about 5 people, you simply don't fit in! The one female member of staff behind the bar was simply foul with her language!
The music was SO loud and the smokers area seems to be pretty much ignored! Not nice trying to get to the bar with the speakers BLARING down your ears and smelling the smoke from the smokers shouting to all their mates standing INSIDE the pub smoking!
All in all, there are some ROUGH pubs in the Toon but this place really takes the Mick! I wish I had taken some pictures with my phone to upload!
Oh and there was a scrap on the carpark when we left! read more
