Food was just good. My main complaint is that it was very bland, which is very odd to me seeing as though Indian food traditionally includes many spices and aromas, lending an abundance of flavor. It is possible I just didn't get the right thing for this location to shine. That's very unfortunate though because bangain bartha's are my "go to" vegan Indian dish. My bangain bartha had mushrooms in it, which was different. I've ordered this dish from several Indian restaurants in different countries and have never had them included. It wasn't bad in the dish, just different. My husband ordered the vegetable curry with chickpeas, which was again, bland. We ordered both the saffron rice and cashew/cranberry basmati rice. The saffron rice was dry but the cashew/cran rice was good. The highlight of the meal was the date chutney!! Sooo good we bought some in a jar to take home!! It has a smokey sweet taste, like a sweet pasty BBQ sauce!! Yuuummmm! We will definitely be back, as it is the only Indian restaurant in the area (that we know of) and for the CHUTNEY!! Whenever I come to Ankara I never fail to visit this place. Even to an avid Indian food fanatic that has eaten at many Indian restaurants this one is among my favorites. Chicken Tikka Masala is impeccable. If you order the right curries they rival any Indian restaurant anywhere in the west. Sticky date pudding dessert is extremely popular and truly worth dying for. It could not possibly be better. I love this restaurant. I highly recommend it. read more

The only indian restaurant in town. But if you eat the right dishes it does not disappoint. We are regulars here so we tried quite many dishes and settled on the following. -onion bhaji -spinach paneer -chicken tikka masala -saffron rice The other stuff we tried were the signature lamb dish, samosas, shrimp curry, and chicken balti. Once again the Spice Curry House fails to impress given that it has the sole responsibility of upholding Indian cuisine in Ankara. I followed the owners suggestion of eggplant curry and found after two mouthfuls that it was too salty to continue. The meal was quietly removed by the waiter without asking why. A cup of tea was declined as the kitchen was closed, but they sold us a soda instead. read more

Terrible service! We went there today for dinner and had to leave immediately for another restaurant. There was no one to greet us at the entrance, so I called for assistance 3-4 times--no response. Some noise was coming from downstairs, so I went there (into the kitchen) and asked "Are you closed?" One guy said, "I'll be there in a minute." He came with a sullen face, left menus and forks on the table, but absolutely no words: no "hello," "welcome," "sorry, we were a bit busy downstairs", etc. Absolutely NO verbal interaction. Then my mom asked for cushions for the wooden chairs. He brought the cushions, again with NO words and the persistent grouchy attitude. As a result, we decided to leave immediately, moved to a quality restaurant, and had a wonderful dinner there. I have eaten at Spice Curry House numerous times in the past 3 years and have never got such a treatment from them. On the contrary, I have always left with a happy face and a happy stomach. I don't know what their problem was today, but one thing I know, they've lost some loyal customers. read more
