It is perfectly adequate and I have no complaints. They stock a small variety of beauty and health products. As usual I headed straight for the most colourful item in sight - the nail polish. It was only $2.50 but it turned out to be pretty sloppy quality. Not a reflection on the pharmacy but the no-name brand does not earn my recommendation. The staff here are very friendly and helpful although I did notice that there were more customers than staff - this can get annoying particularly when you are in a rush. The staff took their time with each customer too and I appreciated this - only after I got served though!

The staff are really friendly and helpful when you need them. On my last visit though, not a single staff member approached me or even acknowledged my existence. They were very busy though so I wasn't too put out by this. It just would've been nice to have someone around who could've directed me to the right shelf to find what I needed instead of having to wander around the whole pharmacy to find one thing.

The pharmacist and his assistant were just too polite and helpful, to the point where being not so well may be a good thing; even though you don't want that to happen too frequently. The generic variety of the antibiotics they sell represents great value for money unlike some generic medicines you can buy at some other pharmacies that dissolve into your mouth before you even have a chance to swallow them; kind of giving you that murky, yucky feeling in your mouth. A chemist isn't a place you would want to frequent too frequently; however if I ever needed to go to the chemist again - for heavens sake not too soon if at all; this establishment would be my next destination without re-thinking my decision. You want confidence in pharmacies as they contribute to your recovery from a major or minor illness to some degree; and you want trust as well as you are handing over your private details to them in order to get your medicine dispensed. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful and clearly have a passion for their job. They want you to feel as good as you can as quickly as you can. I used to live nearby and they quickly became like a second family to me! It's always nice to feel mothered when you're sick... Situated on the busy corner of Brunswick St. and Alexandra Parade, this place has been here forever. The tiny family owned pharmacy is jam-packed and has advertising that looks like it's been there since the 70's. Whenever I go in I feel sorry that I've made the hobbling, aging sales assistant come to the front desk, she looks like she is in need of some of the medicine they sell. Always super friendly service and great personnel advice from the chemist. Unfortunately it is a couple of dollars more expensive than the chain stores but the people and the service will get me back every time.

My husband went into the Chemist discount centre on pier street Altona 3018 yesterday. He enquired about getting some sort of medicated cream for his hands that had developed chilblains from the cold. He was served by an older lady of the staff there who helped him find a cream. After looking at the cream my husband decided that it was not going to help his condition after all and put it back on the shelf. A younger member of staff saw him do this. As he went to leave, the older lady started yelling across the store and ran after him causing everyone in the store to stop what they were doing and look. She angrily accused my husband of not having paid for the cream and demanded he empty his pockets right there. My husband professed his innocence and that he had placed the cream back on the shelf as it wasn't what he thought he needed. She did not believe him and was still angrily accusing him and being aggressive. Making a huge scene as people looked on. He told her to look at the camera footage and call the police if she was convinced as he had done nothing wrong. She still demands to see his pockets at which time my husband refused as he was beyond insulted. The younger employee came to his defence and confirmed she saw him put it back. All the older employee said was , oh ok, that's it.no sorry or apology for the accusation.To summarise my husband who is a local will never return to chemist discount centre on pier street because he has been publicly embarrassed and humiliated in front of all the other customers and when proven wrong they were not apologetic at all. Also the manager/supervisor watched on and did nothing and stayed silent the whole time. My husband is not a thief! He is a good person.Shame on you chemist discount centre. Absolutely awful My husband will not return, I will not return and we will be telling our local Altona friends about the experience that left him shaken. I'm honestly disgusted by his treatment there by the staff although well done to the younger female staff member who helped him in that moment. I guess my point of this is you need to do better. Don't stereotype people and humiliate them horribly when they are actually innocent. Check your cameras if you have to. Do better.

Let's talk about the service... It's great. Always helpful and attentive, the staff here are lovely. The pharmacist will treat you like his kid, dispensing practical advice and reminding you about any contraindications you ought to be aware of. I recently went in needing some make-up and the woman took me through all the products and suggested a couple of new ones I hadn't tried before. I was really impressed with this "old fashioned" service which you don't often find in the modern era (makeup seems to be increasingly the domain of big department/specialty stores). Her product knowledge was excellent and I've been really impressed with the products she suggested.
