Upon entering two employees, one at register and the other on the sales floor, greeted me. I found all the shelves well stocked and the refrigerated drink stations filled. Trying to engage in conscious consumerism, ever since the Valdez spill, I've vowed not to support the brand. And, although in the back of my mind I suspect that all big oil/gas is the same evil monolith, it does the social avenger in me proud to know that I don't support them. And I don't. Sort of. I never fill up at Exxon. BUT this side of town is woefully unequipped with air machines. How that's possible, I don't know. I thought air machines were a basic part of standard gas stations. Not so once you cross the river. On the east side of town, you're more likely to see that unicorn pheasant creature than to find a working air machine. Wanting to be a responsible car owner and keep inflated tires, I'm bound to this gas station. And, if I'm being fair, the air machine is a marvel. It's completely automated so all you have to do is plunk in the quarters, connect the hose and let the machine tell you when to stop. $1.50 every few months isn't a repudiation of my morals, is it? If it helps my cred at all, going inside for change is always a pain in the butt. No matter if there's one person or 30 people in front of you, a register will be down, a clerk will have no [redacteds] to give and you.will.wait. So, there's that.
