That means for 5 days I can not use $60 of my money because they have a hold on my account. Do they not know or more than likely don't care that this will cause a financial hardship to people? So if you have $100 in the bank and put in $15 worth of gas you figure you have $85 left to spend right? WRONG not here, that $60 hold wild drop you to only $25 that you will be able to spend for the next 5 days until the hold comes off. This practice needs to be abolished ASAP!! My banker told me the best way to avoid this to use your debit card as a credit card at gas stations because they are the worst at doing this. She said usually they won't place a hold on a credit purchases but always do it on debit cards for gas purchases. I quit going to Speedway for this same reason because what they did is what ever amount you put in for gas, they doubled it and that was the amount they put on hold for 5 days. Enjoyed it but that was somewhat suspended because of Covid plus my night vision declined. On many cases, driving back from Maiden to Cornelius, particularly before NC Hwy 16 Bypass opened, I passed by the Exxon Gas Station and would fill up on many cases. Biggest aggravation was getting a receipt from the gas pump for expense purposes. Moved to Denver last July and have been back twice but considering where I live, it's a bit awkward tp get into with ease in traffic. Still it is competitive with the Quik Trip and a little cheaper that the Shell Station across the street. Clean and efficient and easy to access. Tried it a couple of times and each time, had to walk inside to get my receipt. That part has not changed. While it was OK in the past, 10 years with a history of getting a receipt at the pump without going in is still not acceptable It's basically acceptable as a place to get gas but don't expect anything more.

I am getting my gas here now even if it about 5 cents a gallon more than surrounding gas stations. I have a high mileage Audi with Twin Turbo Fuel injection that requires Premium Gas and even then, the fuel injectors do eventually end up with Carbon Deposits. The additives in Shell fuel permits the cylinders to run hotter and reduces the amount of Carbon Deposit so I use this brand. Inside the convivence store on the other hand makes you fell like you are in a high crime area. Not comfortable in there.
