We walked in. Went to the coolers to grab a monster java. The manager blocking our path told us we had to have shoes on. We said thats not actually true. He was very rude at this point to me because he had been confronted about us being barefoot. Still blocking us he continued to tell us theres a sign on the door. It only states shoes on due to health code. I have sensory problems that cause me to be unable to wear shoes. My husband told him we would not be buying anything from this location sat, the drink down and called him a name. He was angry someone again treated us so poorly at another Speedway. We went out to the car. I got on my phone to look up said policy and find my ACA card. We were there a total of 2 mins max looking up the info. He called the police. The police showed up as we were pulling out. We pulled out because I couldn't find the information and didn't want to cause a scene explaining it to someone so angry. The police as they pulled up were told they needed to turn off there lights as I have epilepsy. They ignored us and said there safety lights, they don't cause seizures (which is not true). We asked again, they said nothing. Pulled my husband out of the car. Took his license and told him what kind of example is he setting for our children. That there is a health code set by the state (untrue). The next officer took my license asked what I thought I was doing. What a terrible example Im setting for my children. I told him standing up for my rights and Im setting a good example by doing so. The lights then set off a seizure. My husband went to get in and help me but stopped so he didn't get tazed or shot. The cop went to grab me. My husband said get your hands off her. She doesn't want help. He said do you make her medical desisions for her (as my husband he legally can if I am incapacitated) he said no. I said I don't want to be touched. Being touched further sends me into repeated seizures. Im legally disabled. He went to grab me (your not supposed to touch someone having a seizure only move things out of there way that could hurt them, I was in a seatbelt) My daughter jumped out of the car terrified and crying because a cop who wouldn't stop or listen to logic or reason was now climbing into our car after her mother. He claimed he was a medic. All signs pointed to him not understanding my medical conditions. Again I said no. He said people with seizures can't talk (also untrue). After being further rude to us, they handed back our licenses. It was a horrid experience followed by the cops telling us we were banned while I was fully within my rights to be in the store barefoot. None of which needed to happen. Left my kids scared, me bruised up because of an unnessecary seizure, my husband angry and unable to do anything to stop multiple levels of harassment on his wife and kids, and us banned from a store for standing up for ourselves. read more
