I even noticed a sign advertising free sight tests the other day as I cycled passed, but I'm unsure if this comes without strings attached. I know that by law an optician has to provide the client with a written statement of their prescription after a test. This could quite feasibly mean that you could have your test here and then go somewhere else for you glasses. That is, of course, if there's no prerequisite conditions affecting the offer.. which I guess there must be, or how else would Value Vision make their money? I'm looking to change my glasses even though I only got them at the beginning of the year. I've not been happy with them since I got them and so clearly I don't intend to go back to the same shop for a second pair. Friends have recommended both Value Vision and Spectrum Discount Glasses both for quality and price, and so it's simply a case of committing to using one of them. I was impressed by the level of service that I received when I went into Value Vision to make my initial enquiries. The staff were really helpful and explained that I could make major savings through using their service. I checked out the frames that they carry, and was impressed by the range. I could definitely see myself in quite a few of the options available.

Beresford Opticians pitch their business to all, and Stewart Greenburg Opticians are more into their designer labels and soliciting businesses from wealthier patrons. Like Stewart Greenburg Opticians, Beresford Opticians is an independent practice, but they actively welcome both Private and NHS patients. They also carry an extensive range of designer glasses and sunglasses, but it isn't as comprehensive as the range that you will find at Stewart Greenburg Opticians, who claim that they could very well stock the largest selection of designer frames at affordable prices in South Wales. I like Beresford's. They have one outlet, and so all of their energy is focused right where it's needed. They have spent some time considering the look of the place, which is modern and funky, but most of their efforts are centered on their customers.

It's the first time that I have been prescribed vari-focals, and I was told that the issues that I was having with the glasses would get better in time. They haven't, and I feel as though I have been fed a line! I took them back and had them changed a couple of times, and then I ran out of energy for pursuing the problem, and ended up putting up with a substandard pair of glasses that offered me no improvement in vision than my previous pair that these new ones had replaced... at considerable cost! Anyway, to cut a long story short I called into Optimise Opticians on the offchance they could offer me a better alternative. The only problem was they were busy dealing with someone else, and I didn't have much time. One thing struck me about the business before I left, and that is that it looks quite different to other opticians inside. There are a lot fewer frames lining the walls than at other opticians, and the only printed information I could get my hands on was for transition lenses, which I'm not interested in.

Firstly their eye examinations include a discussion about any history and symptoms you may have and a check of any glasses or contact lenses you may already be wearing. Next, opticians will check your vision with and without lenses for near, far and intermediate distances. They will assess the strength of each eye, and will check the eyes external and internal appearance to detect any early signs of conditions such as glaucoma or cataracts. Their opticians will advise you if they have detected any problems and will also offer advice on the best type of lens frame or contact lens best suited to your needs. Thankfully, there's large plate glass windows, rather than the more traditional casement windows that you often find in mews of this ilk, so at least there's less of it than if any other style of window had been used. Thank heavens for small mercies! I'm not entirely sure, but I think that this shop has had a few name changes over the years. I seem to recall it being called First Class Eyewear & Eyecare, but I rarely go to the opticians, (even though the need is greater than my level of compliance), and so I could be easily mistaken on this point. For a place that trades on price, rather than the level of service or quality of stock, they seem to do alright. There's actually quite a god number of designer frames on offer, as well as the more generic lower-cost options. I can't vouch for the quality of the eye test, or the accuracy of their prescriptions, as I have always opted to go elsewhere for these.
