I hired a cleaning service because honestly I dont' like to clean. I looked on yelp for a cleaning service that had great reviews and found this one. I must say I got one of the laziest cleaning ladies ever. She didn't do a thing! I could have cleaned my apartement better then she did and would have saved the $75. I asked her 3 times to wash my floor with a mop and bucket, she wanted to use a swifer wet jet which doesn't really do a thourough job. She didn't clean my windows or make my bed. I was recently in the hospital and hired this service (found through yelp) hoping to come home to a clean apartment. I paid 25 percent higher than price quoted, hoping to inspire a good job. ($200) THIS WAS THE WORST excuse for a cleaning job I have ever seen. Truly, the worst. Pet hair on furniture, bathroom floor washed only AROUND litter box, garbage can, etc. And not UNDER! Who does that? Fireplace not even touched. Dust covered andirons, screen, old ashes left in fireplace. Oh and they stuffed my dirty laundry into a cat carrier! Also, although I was charged for their cleaning supplies, they used mine. I tried to get the owner to refund half my money. She never responded. Irresponsible, sloppy, and terrible job. Highly recommend. Charged a lat rate based on size of the apartment, not how many hours. The first day - just after move in and deep cleaning needed - the cleaning lady spent 6 hours. $75 for our one bedroom. Every other time, ranging from 3 to 4 hours of work, also $75. We now have a set time, every other week, and they knocked the rate down to $70. Very pleased each time. Our cleaning lady is Osvelia and highly recommend requesting her. I think this cleaning service is perfect for people who are time constrained and want to keep their apartment reasonably clean. I will say that she did not appear to be the most experienced cleaner and did not clean as meticulously as I would clean it myself (or your mom would). For instance, she would not have vacuumed thoroughly under the dining table had I not demonstratively moved the chairs... and I had to tell her to pay special attention to the nooks and corners of the room. So, I'm pretty happy with the outcome but I am not "wowed" by Sparkling Cleaning. read more

I recently used Sparkling Cleaning before moving my furniture into my new apartment. Eden (the woman who owns or manages this business) met me at my apartment for my "move-in" cleaning. I let her in, paid her upfront and waited with her for the cleaning lady. As the cleaning lady was running substantially late, I had to leave for work but left Eden specific instructions to please instruct the cleaning lady NOT to throw out the only items in my apartment--my documents in a kitchen drawer that my broker had given me the day before. These documents were not replaceable, as they included original signature pages from my broker, prior tenant, appliance warranties and more. When I returned to my apartment the next day I was not impressed with the cleaning. Despite there being no furniture in this apartment and thus not very much to clean, there was still dust on multiple shelves, drawers and bathroom amenities. But much more importantly, my documents were gone. I called Eden, who called her cleaning lady, and after taking her time to respond to me eventually informed me that her cleaning lady had thrown them out! She was hardly apologetic and although she admitted to telling the cleaning lady NOT to throw out the documents, Eden initially did not even take responsibility for what her cleaning lady did. When I asked for a refund or some credit via text, I got no response. I sent another text a week later, indicating that I would be giving her a bad review and not recommending her to any of my family or friends. She immediately responded claiming to have been out of the country, saying she would send me a partial refund but suggesting that she shouldn't have to because the documents were "replaceable." Another week went by and I received no word from her or any refund. I send her another message with the same mention of a bad review to which she responded by saying that she was out of the state again, implying that she had no one local who could process the refund (odd that she has no representative or other employee who can handle her business when she's away). What really frustrates me is her complete carelessness, lack of professionalism and irresponsive attitude throughout this entire process (not to mention that the cleaning wasn't even well done). I do NOT recommend this business and would avoid them at all costs! read more

Yesterday I had a cleaner from Sparkling Cleaners clean my 1 bedroom, 1 bath apartment. I have used this service numerous times. The lady, who I won't name, accidentally flushed a towel down the toilet bowl. She tried for a few minutes to get it out by herself and was not able too. She informed me what happened and asked me to call a plumber. The toilet was backed up and I was having company over that evening. I texted the owner of Sparkling Cleaners and called her 3 times, she did not answer. I finally texted her telling her that payment was going to be on hold until the situation was resolved. She then called me! I was able to get the handyman in my building to come and resolve the situation. She did not offer me a discount/credit. I use a cleaning service to make my life easier. This was not a pleasant experience. I will NO LONGER be using this service. I understand that mistakes happen, that is why I am not mentioning the cleaning ladies name, but I do expect the management to compensate me for a problem they are responsible for. read more

I had an after party cleaning of a duplex in upper east side , it was two cleaning ladies that were working together for about 4 hours. every thing came out great! cleaned organized , even some laundry washed, they have brought their cleaning supplies , all together a cost of $150. I signed up just to save others from this service. The price was good and they were able to come on short notice. The kitchen looked decent and the bathroom looked good. Obviously, however, she didn't know how to use a vacuum cleaner or how to wash pots and pans. In fact, I'm not entirely sure she washed the pots and pans. Or vacuumed the rugs. It's upsetting because when I pay to have someone do something for me, I expect them to do a better job than I would, especially when I tip them $20 after reading that cleaning people don't necessarily get tips. I would not recommend this service to anyone. At least not anyone I like. read more

If I could give a negative rating I would. Called on Monday to schedule a one time, move out cleaning for the following Saturday. Agreed to a rate and time and confirmed our address. After battling traffic from another borough, I arrived at our old apartment early.....and then proceeded to wait. After the cleaning person was 20 minutes late to the appointment, I called to find out if maybe they were lost. I was told, "Well, she never confirmed she could make the appointment. I (the company) was just going to wait and see if she showed up today." I asked why I wasn't informed of this the day before and I got nothing. I was then told that maybe they could send someone over in an hour or two to do the job but they were not sure and would call back. About 30 minutes later I received a call saying no one was available and was then told, "I'm not sure what you want me to do about it." My response was less than civil. I'm not sure how this company stays in business when it treats customers this way. Warning to anyone who considers using these people, call the day before and make sure they confirm they have someone lined up to come. Don't just trust that they will take care of it on their own. read more
