I had to rush up to Vestal NY for a one night stay. I don't know anything about the college town,…read moreand also do not want to see *beer kegs coming through the front door. I need my sleep so I chose Tru by Hilton Binghamton Vestal. I'm basing my hotel selection on: Free Breakfast Colorful lobby Smoking is permitted out front After checking in, I pretty much hung my clothes and went out to dinner. After dinner, I went back to the hotel and lit up a nice cigar. The next morning, I woke up refreshed. The bed was comfortable, the shower products were very good but this hotel doesn't believe in giving out bar soap? Yeah.. I travel with a bar from L'Occitane so these silly rules don't apply to me. I woke up, poured myself a cup of coffee from the free breakfast bar. I see families coming down and enjoying the breakfast selections. I'm sure they're here for a graduation or visiting a student. Nice hotel, I would stay here again. *If I see a beer keg, I'm pouring myself some of your beer while I smoke.

Leading up to graduation this year, sadly, my mother passed away - we had a room reserved for her which we, obviously, sought to cancel. Apparently, Hilton, and specifically this trash-bag of a property, feel that my mother should have died sooner to avoid having to pay a cancelation fee. My apologies that my mother DIED at an inconvenient time for you - so much so that I am now out over 600 dollars to cancel a room which you were able to turn around an IMMEDIATELY sell again. Hilton hotels will never see another dollar of my money - and this hotel in particular, and it's clown of a general manager, can both go pound sand. I TRULY hope that you end up being taken advantage of due to the death of someone close to you so that you will understand what an absolute piece of garbage you were in this situation. Screw this property, and Hilton in general - this is not the last that this will be heard of.

The layout of a small "village" like grouping was pleasant generally well planted and the staff very friendly. The issues: a little run down for a Marriott and some of the room cleaning needed more attention (fridge doors, bathroom floor) The lobby looked pretty good but the furniture is well worn. Our first floor room had a sliding door but the screen was sketchy and the door very hard to slide. Some of the outer siding was in poor shape. The fridge doors were hinged incorrectly to where it was placed in the kitchen making opening awkward. Breakfast was the usual kinda bleh thing but not worse than other such places. Basically at $160 plus you are paying for a kitchen but not upkeep. I would call this a clean 2 hotel that could be a 3 with some attention. I would use it but not seek it out necessarily if I had choices in the price range but it was quiet.

To get to our unit, there was a flight of steps. Our room was clean and in excellent shape. We were a little nervous reading some of the other reviews saying the hotel needed renovations. The website said the room had 2 queen beds. The bed seemed smaller than a queen size. The air conditioning unit was extremely loud in our unit, but we were only basically in the room to sleep. You need to go outside to get to the lobby area where they serve breakfast. The breakfast had the basic items. We did ask the attendant for gluten free bagels. The outside of the buildings looks a bit weathered, but we were extremely happy with our stay. There is a 7 Brew right down the hill from the hotel and 2 restaurants, Tully's and CooperTop, in the shopping center across the street from the hotel.

On our second…read morenight, the grands, ages 5 and 3, decided they wanted to spend the night with us and go swimming and to the hotel restaurant. We enjoyed all that the DoubleTree offered. The restaurant was great. My husband had a steak he loved, the boys had chicken strips and fries, and macaroni and cheese, (although I do recommend to the hotel to get rid of the black bowls that you serve Mac and cheese to kids in, it's weird to them....looks like a witches brew) and I ordered the portobello ravioli, but I didn't get to eat it hot due to the kids. Looked delish though! We went to the pool, which was nice and clean, and they had plenty of extra towels. This was the only part of our stay. The lady asking us to sign in, was extremely bossy, and pissy towards everyone there. She walked through the pool several times yelling at people about where they were allowed to sit, or what floats they were allowed to use. Slamming containers as she put them away and putting the lock on it. Everyone in the pool was talking about it, all 8 or 9 of us she was trying to treat like Privates. My high ranking husband in the military, nor I, appreciated her superiority complex. She needs to be in another department that doesn't deal with people, but I'd bet my last dollar she's organized and on time. We had an extra cot brought up for the grands, and the man that brought it up treated the kids like royalty. They've not been to many nice hotels anyway, so this was an adventure in their hometown. So special to this Mama Lu that they slept like angels. I choose DoubleTree every time it's available to me because the pillows and bed are a guaranteed great night sleep, every single time, no matter the location.

My husband and I booked a last-minute flight from Los Angeles. During my layover, I reserved a week's stay at the Hampton Inn in Johnson City online. We arrived late that evening, emotionally and physically drained. From the very first moment, the staff was extraordinary. The front desk agent was warm and empathetic, extended my reservation when availability was short, informed me I'd accidentally booked third-party, and made sure I received the bereavement rate. Our room was clean and ready. Breakfast was wonderful. Every staff member responded with kindness and care. What truly set this team apart: when I hesitantly asked if we could host a small post funeral reception in the hotel lobby, the answer was an immediate yes. I fully expected to be told no. The staff, led by manager Caitie Eberz, assured me the space was available and even offered to keep the coffee fresh. The staff stepped up to help in many areas: they stored our food platters without hesitation, placed a family member who flew in from the West Coast in the room directly across the hall from mine, helped me print my eulogy at 1 a.m. when I couldn't figure out the printer through my exhaustion, and after the reception, simply took the cleanup from my hands when I asked where the dumpster was. Every gesture made an enormous difference during this difficult time. My mother's death was unexpected, and while that week was filled with uncertainty and grief, the Hampton Inn team provided something I desperately needed: a sense of home and stability. Thank you to Caitie Eberz and every member of her team. You went above and beyond, and my family and I will never forget your kindness. Laura D.

They lured me in the hotel with free charging, covered the free tesla charger with a bag and refused to turn them on. They pointed me to the charger behind the hotel for $.70 cents per kWh. That would cost me $70 for the night which is a ripoff. The hotel has a contract with the rip-off company and might get a klick back. Avoid this hotel. False advertising and no service.
