Today I joined to Incident Investigation course with the instructor Alyssa. The facility was very clean and organized. In the classroom, there is a coffee pot, tea bags, water stand, microwave oven and the fridge. Unfortunately there are no fast food restaurants near there, bring your lunch if you needed. The course was very meaningful and lots of reading for filing report but Alyssa was very patient and friendly to keep us motivating. They provided summery of text in advance on line and in class, they prepared thick textbook. I felt well supported.

They're a Taoist temple tucked away in a Burnaby neighborhood. The community consists of largely Taiwanese people. What i always liked about the temple is that they're not overly pushy for people who aren't believers of Taoism. Whenever I go, I'd take a packet (free) of the blessed rice (raw) home. It was my first time at the Festival and i was pleasantly surprised. As mentioned above, the temple population is mostly Taiwanese people. However, a lot of the stands and vendors consisted of local organizations. This tells me that the Temple has done a great job of establishing their community presence. There were quite a lot of vendors, and tailored to different age groups, community and interests. There was definitely something for everyone. There was also a live band stage. I would definitely come back again next year.

My elderly mother was going a bit stir crazy being homebound because of the rain and lack of an…read moreactivity to do. She is not fluent in English and had not integrate into the community. I took her to Burnaby Neighbourhood House and introduced her to the senior program director there. My mother is resistant to new things but she started to participate in the BNH programs. I am stunned at the change in my mothers mood. After two weeks of going to BNH she is happily looking forward to the next meetings. She is visibly happier. She has made new friends. She tells me that she feels welcomed at the BNH. I am so impressed with the outcome for my mother that I have asked my daughter to sign up for the teen leadership programs at the BNH.

Had someone took something right from under me when I was looking at something for not even a 5 second. After I realized it, I tried to confront the guy myself but walked away after I realized he won't admit his wrong doing and might gotten the police involved if I continued. When I brought it up to security, they admitted they won't do anything about it. Granted, their safety is a priority but what is the point of having a security guard when you had an issue that is borderline theft and nobody will help you in this regards? Two weeks later, I returned, and another doctor said I could take off the boot and start walking, giving me a brochure with warm-up exercises. I told him my leg hurt and I couldn't walk. He looked at the first X-ray and saw a second fracture. I was sent for another X-ray, which confirmed the fracture. The second doctor was shocked that the previous one hadn't noticed the fracture. As a result, I spent two months in a boot and on crutches, even though I had been sent home earlier, assured that it was an illusion and not a fracture. I don't recommend this place.
