I visited the Coral Apartment in La Cala Mijas from July 17th - 26th. My stay was beyond what I had imagined. I had issues with the company I had booked pick up from at the airport, but I would say to anyone visiting either Coral or Sandy apartments that the train service (which is in the airport was easy to use and cheaper) that you would get to Fuengirola, then walk round the corner to the bus terminal and jumps on the m220 bus all the way to La Cala Mijas and get off in town, easy option and cheap. After that its a 5 minute walk up to the villa. At the villa I was met by Jane, the contact person for the apartment. Jane is extremely friendly and by using a phone app always had her at hand for issues. We were shown around the villa complex first stopping off at the swimming pool closest to villa. The pool is pretty big and perfect for families. It has quite a few sunbeds you can use and table areas with sun parasols on them. It even has a block with toilets/ changing room. After this we were shown through the garage area (perfectly safe for car storage if you decide to hire a car) where you can also borrow the bikes that are there. Then we made our way up to the first floor where the Coral apartment is, and all I could say was wow! It is a fairly spacious apartment, larger than I thought. Very clean and has all the extras you will need. The apartment has one main double bedroom with en-suite which leads out onto the seating area outside. This outside area also contains a day bed for another person to sleep on. To the right of that is the Jacuzzi area. This is able to be segregated from by means of blackout curtain. The next room contains a double size bunk bed. Also contains a closet to put your stuff in. The living area is joined with the kitchen, it has a few single seats and large sofa which can also be used for sleeping on. The living area leads onto the Jacuzzi area which again is segregated by means of glass doors and pull down shutters. A shower room is also beside the second bedroom. The whole apartment has the aircon which was amazing as the temperatures easily climbed during my trip. And for those with children who get bored easy, the PlayStation 4 should keep them amused. Okay so, the area itself is very friendly. There is a Lidl supermarket at the bottom of street which was handy for most essentials. Just a few minutes walk over the bridge is the main town area and in front of that a fantastic beach! Again there is plenty of shops and restaurants in there along with a Biddy Milligans Irish bar which we frequented. Supermarket there is called the Super Sol which is fantastic for fresh baguettes. A few gift shops run by some friendly locals. Oh which I might add can understand some English. I could go on about my visit to Coral apartment, that's how good it was. I am very happy I went and only regret is I didn't stay longer. Sophie and Einar have created a fantastic holiday apartment and I will most certainly return again. read more

We have just returned from a fantastic two week stay at this lovely apartment. We travelled as two families of three (4 adults and two children aged 16 and 12). The apartment was exactly as listed and provided us with everything we could wish for. There were many small points that weren't mentioned that we found useful - the brilliant roller shutters on all windows, provision of mosquito plugs (not that we ever saw any), every kitchen utensil you could ever need, spanish phrase book,etc, etc. The accommodation was very well presented, and all was explained to us thoroughly by Sally who greeted us on arrival. The entire complex is very well maintained and all communal areas are very clean. The two pools were both lovely, with sun loungers provided. There are also bathroom facilities at both pools. Prior to booking any correspondence we had with Sophie & Einar the owners was efficient and professional and very well organised. I would recommend this apartment to anyone - if you want a holiday close to bars, restaurants, etc this would be suitable as the center of La Cala De Mijas is only about 10 minutes stroll away, but if you want a relaxing do-nothing sort of break, then this is also the place for you! This is a secure property, with a comprehensive door locking system and the complex has a security patrol for added peace of mind. We used the hot tub most evenings - strangely it seemed to cool us down after days in the scorching spanish sunshine! There are lots of local facilities from a Lidl supermarket to a British run snack bar (Snack Attack) to a tour/excursion operator (we booked day trip to Seville) - all within 5 minute walk. We enjoyed various restaurants in the centre of La Cala that catered to all our requirements - we enjoyed Spanish, Italian, British, and Indian food. We did not hire a car (just didn't fancy driving abroad!), but didn't really need one either. We made good use of the bus service and had a few visits to Fuengirola, to Benalmadina and to Estepona. The taxi services we also good, with very reasonable rates. Back in the apartment the home entertainment system was very good - full range of TV channels to keep everyone happy - although we did get a bit confused over which remote control to use!! We would love to return - so we don't want to encourage you too much to try out this apartment for yourselves in case you are lucky enough to book it when we want to go!! Having previously booked the owner's other apartment the Coral Beach we knew we would be happy with the Sandy beach. We were met by the new manager Sally who was prompt at meeting us at the apartment when we phoned her from the airport. Although we had been before Sally let us know about all the facilities and was excellent at giving us ideas of where to go in the area. If your looking for local info Sally is your girl. The apartment was really nice, modern and most importantly clean and a complete home from home. The apartment is well lit and bright giving a sense of open space. The Dining room was beautifully furnished as was the living room with the corner sofa and 2 seater sofa,enough for a big family to enjoy. The bedrooms were tastefully designed with the most comfy beds I have ever encountered, even in some 5 star hotels. The apartment has all the mod cons and top of the range white goods including a huge fridge freezer to hold as much beer and wine or salad if that's your thing. The kitchen again has everything you could possibly need including a teabag sqeezer, now that's service for you. The sun room was excellent and our favorite area to hang out after a invigorating walk on the local beach just 10 minutes walk away. Sit, relax and take in the sun going down in the distance with your gin & Tonic or glass of the local wine. Better still enjoy the view from your own private hot tub. We didn't have a chance to check out the pool area on our last visit as it was hidden in the tropical gardens. We wandered up the spiral pathway and were met by a sparkling clean beautiful large pool with little shaded break out umbrella areas. There were also plenty of sunbeds for everyone to use. The area also has clean toilets in the grounds. The pool is ideal for families with children who perhaps do not want to walk to the local beach. This was truly a holiday we will remember! Here we had a blast from the first second. Upon arrival we were very well received and given a brief guided tour of the complex and amenities. We got a good description on how to use everything in the apartment, including a large Jacuzzi on the veranda. There was also a very helpful folder with simple instructions for less "technical gifted " people like myself. We were also tipped off about where in the town we could find places that were of interest to us. The kids were quick to explore the pool area and the fact that it was a salt water pool was a huge plus! No chlorine to bleach the long awaited tan. Having acquainted ourselves with the housing development, we went for a walk down to the beach area. The beach was really great with pleasant sandy bottom and it was also possible to rent sun beds and pedal boats on the beach. On our way back to the apartment we also went by the local supermarket Mercadona, which had both a good selection and good prices. We probably spent about as much time at the pool as on the beach, and we could not have had it better! The storage room down in the garage was stocked with various beach games and also a big umbrella that we took with us down to the beach. This is highly recommended and very comfortable to be able to choose some shade now and then. The pool had straw umbrellas and beach chairs ready to use for all. The apartment had every comfort we could wish for. We used the TV, playstation, movie selection and our computers on the wireless network. This is an apartment I can recommend to everyone, and we had such a great time that none of us wanted to go back home when the holiday was over. My partner and I stayed there for his birthday treat. I had been to Spain 3 weeks previous and stayed in a hotel , but I wanted to try a different experience. I came across this apartment on the home away website and loved it immediately! I communicated with the owner via telephone and email. Everything went to plan and the owner accommodated us as best they could regarding check ins and outs. We arrived to the stunning apartment and was greeted by Sally (the manager) with a bottle of wine and chocolates. Sally was so warm, friendly and welcoming. She explained all the things we needed to know and showed us where everything was and how to operate the sky and play station etc... Sally couldn't do enough for us. I felt reassured that we would have a wonderful experience. She introduced us to people who worked in the bars, stores and restaurants. And made sure we were treated like royalty. She really is a fantastic host. The apartment was modern, clean and decorated to a high standard. The jacuzzi was wonderful and easy to use. The bathrooms were my favourite place, so pretty and lovely tiles. The swimming pools were lovely and secluded which is exactly what I wanted. The grounds are very tidy and clean and the gardening is very well maintained. We were close to supermarkets, bars, restaurants, little mini stores and a great club called vibes where the bartenders are cool, friendly and the music is good. We will be returning in a month and hoping to book the same apartment. Great holiday! read more

The apartment was just as pictured on the website, absolutely perfect. We stayed for 4 days, 3 nights and had a wonderful time (5 ladies on a birthday celebration). The apartment was very clean and well kept. It had everything you could wish for and was a real home from home. The quilts and pillows were the softest I have had on holiday and made it a struggle to get out of bed, or was that the late nights!!! The hot tub was perfect and we spent the first evening just chilling in the lovely hot water drinking wine and chatting. The kitchen was so well equipped that we shopped at the local market and shops and cooked all our own meals. We sat at the table on the balcony to eat just chilling and chatting with the lovely view of the sea in the distance. The location was perfect with just a 10 minute stroll to the beautiful beach and a mere 5 minutes to a small selection of bars and a nightclub. The town was lovely, not too big or commercial and we had a lovely stay. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend both the apartment and the area. The owners, Sophie & Einar, responded to our email queries promptly in spite of the time difference and provided first class information on everything. I will definitely be booking to stay here again and can't wait to go back. read more

We stayed for a week, dad, mum and two boys (8 and 10). Thanks to Sally for meeting us at the apartment, it really made us feel welcome. The apartment is well equipped, which made cooking at home easy when needed. As we stayed there in February, the weather wasn't warm enough to use the outdoor pools - not for the adults, at least. The boys used it twice, and on our pictures it looks really idyllic. The beach was also fun, and we spent some time chasing the waves. Afterwards it sure was nice to have a warm Jacuzzi to come home to, and it was used every day! We rented a car, which we highly recommend. There are so many things to do and see in the area, but they are easiest to reach by car. The aquarium in Benalmadena is okay on a rainy day. If you like walking in the mountains, you should go visit El Torcal de Antequera and look at the fantastic rock formations. Gibraltar was also fun; we rented a taxi that gave us a guided tour on the Upper Rock. In that way even the mother of the family - terrified of heights - could enjoy the trip, only occasionally suffering from death anxiety. The youngest boy, however, still hasn't forgiven the ape trying to steal his caps. This sure was a memorably holiday - we will be back! read more

My wife, our 3 year old son, and I just got back from a wonderful stay in La Cala de Mijas, Spain. We stayed with Spanish Vacation Rental, and had such a great experience. From the very first email we experienced quick responses, personal attention, and great information about the apartment, as well as things to do in the area. Since we brought our son along we really got to utilize all the small extras that Sophie & Einar had to offer. Not having to bring our own travel cot, baby monitor, stroller, and such really saved on space in our suitcase, which allowed us to travel to Malaga Airport via RyanAir at the minimum price. What a great save! Both the apartment and the town was just as described. The apartment was a great home, with much more than we expected. We spent many evenings in the Jacuzzi on the terrace. Don't miss it. It comes with a lockable lid, so we didn't have to worry about anyone falling in when we weren't watching. We will definitely be coming back again soon, possibly this spring. We stayed at the Sandy Beach Apartment two weeks in October 2016. We liked everything about this apartment and really found nothing to complain about. The equipment of the apartment was much more than we could expect; we had everything we needed to live and a lot more. The manager, Jane, was very kind and competent. The apartment is located in a development with landscaped communal gardens and two swimming pools, everything generous and beautiful. The beaches, the shops, the village center and a lot of restaurants are all within walking distance. The easy access to the garage, where we could park our rental car, was very convenient. We made day trips to the Nerja caves, to Ronda, to Granada, to Mijas Pueblo, to Gibraltar and Tarifa, where we went for whale watching. These trips gave us just an idea of the beauty of Andalucia. We intend to come again and to see more of this fascinating county. And we hope very much that "our" apartment will be available then for our next stay. read more

Our family really enjoyed our stay at La Cala. The kitchen was very well equipped and the apartment is modern and comfortable. We all loved the hot tub. The area that the apartment is in feels very safe and has very nice trails all around it. It is a bit of a long walk to the beach for young children. There is an excellent grocery store a quick drive away. read more

We stayed at Coral Reef for a month. Everything was as expected and we had a wonderful stay with two small children. La Cala is a small town with a nice beach. It was a very good place for us to do day trips around Andalucia. And whenever we wished for a stroll at a beach bulevard, Fuengirola was right next door. read more
