After being unable to find corn husks for tamales ANYWHERE in this city, I came across Spanische Quelle. Because it's located in Kreuzberg, albeit a bit of a trek from my kiez, I decided to check it out, even though it doesn't list it's offerings on the website.
What I came to was a potentially awesome store located in a boring and not very active strip mall.
When first entering the shop, it's actually not a shop, but a restaurant. There are a few tables for people to dine at, and although I didn't sneak a peak at the menu, I did see a lot of pastries and such in the counter case.
Up a ramp and behind the cafe seating is the store, which consists of three long aisles of products. There are salas and candies, frozen goodies and rices and flours, an entire row of pottery and dishes, and wine wine wine!
On my first go-round, I couldn't find husks, so eventually I had to ask for help. The lone employee manning the register help me find the one box full of 120 corn husks. And although it was a little price-y, as most everything here was, I took it.
