This company is now called Home club or Home select and they are the biggest rip off in Spain. My daughters rented from them for a year. We even paid a $200 biweekly made fee. They are now keeping my deposit of €3500 and telling me they need to repaint the furniture was cheap so after a year of use it basically broke. It was made of particleboard. But just the fact they had their own made going in their week after week and never mentioned any of these items to us or any of their concerns until the children had moved out and they decided to keep our deposit. Spain Select is what you call fake luxury. The decoration of the apartments is wow, but the service is deficient, at best. This is our second stay with them. The first one was fine but the service is obviously on the decline: no Nespresso machine, no towel racks, no salt and pepper, no sponge in the kitchen. It took us an hour and a half for somebody to greet us and open the door upon arrival. I won't be using them again. read more

I have just had a terrible problem with Spain Select. We rented a beautiful apartment with AIRBNB and Spain Select and because of the Paris attacks we were advised to cancel for now. AIRBNB has a 50 0/0 cancellation fee which came out to $1400.00 that we lost. Our apartment was in Madrid Centro and now we are trying to get my daughter back and she needs to stay in the apartment that we already paid for and they are refusing and it is sitting empty on the same dates that we had it booked for and no one cares. Go to a hotel because even with most hotels you would only lose usually the first nights stay or they would have a heart and understand these uncertain times and why we cancelled. Now we have to pay for our daughter to stay the two nights in Madrid while losing $1400.00 . Just doesn't make sense to me .. So if all things go well, I guess AIRBNB is ok but if anything goes wrong I don't think their policies are good. Just to follow up. Spain Select came through and did offer to help. Once they started dialog with them I felt like I was finally talking to a human and not just sorry this is the way it is. They did offer something although it didn't work out(not because of Spain Select). I feel the policy that I am upset with is an AIRBNB policy and NOT Spain Select.. read more

We spent seven nights in a luxury apartment which had only five minutes of hot water a day for five people. They finally explained after we left that they might have figured out there was an issue. We received no compensation at a "luxury" apartment that had extremely little hot water. Would not recommend. read more

My family and I visited Madrid in 2011. However, before our visit I did some research as to which type of lodging would be best for us. After much research I realized that quite a few people on a particular, well-renowned travel forum/site recommended renting an apartment rather than a hotel. The main reason is for the cost and the space plus extra convenience. Booking a hotel is not only highly expensive for a family of three people but also there would not be much available space in one room. Thus, I kept seeing one particular rental agency's name being mentioned: Spain Select. The comments were all positive and were from trusted sources as all reviewers had histories of making other lodging reviews. They all said that not only were Spain Select properties first rate but also it was highly easy to deal with the booking team. One example of that is there is a refundable booking deposit that was refunded within the week after our departure. So I went through the booking process, and it was just as simple and straightforward as mentioned by previous clients. I found that the rates for all apartments were highly reasonable. To give a comparison the cost of the apartment we ended up renting (Plaza Mayor I) was at least 50% cheaper than renting a Paris hotel room for three. The Plaza Mayor I apartment is exactly as how the photos on the Spain Select website show. There were two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a kitchen, a washer/dryer, a huge living room that had two sets of windows overlooking the fantastic Plaza Mayor, and high ceilings and parquet flooring (due to its 17th century origins). As stated the location was on the Plaza Mayor itself so it was a prime location for sightseeing (tourist office is also in Plaza Mayor and one can purchase tickets for the HOHO bus which stops outside the plaza) and many places to eat. Mercado San Miguel and Plaza Sta. Ana are just a few steps away. One can also walk to the Palacio Royal. All in all, I highly recommend Spain Select for renting affordable but luxe apartments and dealing with a very professional group of friendly staff. read more
