Came here once before for brunch. We showed up shortly after they opened around 4pm today. And even though they just opened the waiters were very nice. Ethan was our server and was very helpful with his suggestions. I was stuck between two dishes and I'm so glad he told me to go with the spaghetti with meatballs. We also got the cheese pillows and some drinks. I got the spicy pineapple margarita and oh my gosh, it was so tasty (could be too spicy for some people). We ate at Spaghetti Western on a Saturday while returning from Los Angeles, It was crowded, although not packed, apparently the first really crowded weekend of the new high tourist season. We ordered pasta (penne with eggplant, and Spaghetti Western, with smoked pepper bacon, San Marzano tomato sauce, and Pecorino Romano) as well as some bread. The drinks came. We then waited for quite some time. After a while, someone we hadn't seen before came up and asked if we had been waiting a while. We said that we had. He said he would check on that, and as well, check on the bread, which still hadn't arrived. He returned twice, once to bring the bread, and once to let us know that the food was on the way. It showed up about five minutes later. The two pasta dishes were delicious. We were comped the bread as some sort of manager's discount because of our long wait. The ambiance of the location is fantastic, a large rustic wood-beamed interior with immense buffalo and deer heads hung on the wall. They also had a stage with live music, which was good. I'm taking off a star because of the long waits, one where we waited for about ten minutes despite there being numerous tables open, and the other for what was easily over half an hour for the bread appetizer. I'd take off two stars, but one has to acknowledge that someone finally recognized that we were waiting for a long time and followed through with making sure people sped things along. I'll chalk it up to the restaurant not expecting the first really crowded weekend of the high tourist season. Wait aside, we enjoyed everything else about the place, and hope to return. read more

For my 800th review I have to give it up for Spaghetti Western. I love everything about this place, the location, food, and concept. It's a good time if your on this side of the desert. Spaghetti western plays homage to the cowboy movies made in Italy back in the day. Located in Marengo Valley desert (not too far from Joshua Tree) the vibes are right for making you feel like you could walk into a western film. It's got old school desert nostalgia and the name is inviting and fun. Inside the restaurant it was surprisingly spacious and very clean. I liked the layout as there were some booths, tables throughout, and a nice small bar area. The decor is everything you'd hope for, cowboy saloon feel with artwork and the little jail inside was cool. They have a cool sounding live music setup here so make sure you pay attention to the locals that come to play. Inside is a reasonably sized stage for being inside a restaurant. The service was very good, friendly staff and very welcoming. Our waitress was quick to bring us our drinks and serve us. The food was well paced and everyone was just really nice throughout our dining experience. The food is 5 stars, no frills classic pastas. The menu isn't very large but I could appreciate this as they stayed true to their classics and was smart given their location to have a smaller menu that they could sustain. The menu primarily consisted of salsas, pastas, and a ribeye dish. Given the name of this spot I had to go with the classic spaghetti and meatballs. The dish was delicious and hit the mark! The meatballs were very flavorful and didn't fall apart. The sauce was classic and they stayed true to Italian cooking without overcomplicating it. Cocktails and beers were standard. I was bummed that the day I came they didn't have prickly pear syrup to make one of their margaritas, that was a bummer. Went with a classic lime margarita and it was fine. Wish they had cuter glasses to match the vibes inside, just a note. Nothing wrong with their glassware I just saw room for creativity given how cool and different this place is. Overall Spaghetti Western is a really good find on this side of town. The staff were super nice and made you feel welcome. The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. I'd definitely love to come back and it's totally the type of place to bring family members or friends visiting as it unique and fun. read more

The atmosphere and wait staff were amazing; however, the food was disappointing. It was overpriced for the portion sizes. The majority of our party ordered pasta, which came without any sides. I expected at least some garlic bread or a breadstick to accompany the meal. Additionally, the restaurant does not accommodate children, as there is no children's menu or even children's silverware. I ordered the flat iron steak and was very disappointed. My first two bites contained hard pieces of gristle. For $32, I expected a better quality steak. The one redeeming quality was our waiter. Despite having a large group, he provided excellent service and was always on top of things. Overall, while the service was very good, the food left a lot to be desired. read more

My teenage daughter wanted pasta, and there's really not a lot of options in the high desert. We came here, for the pesto pasta, and also tried the ribs, salmon, and bbq burger as well! Everything was exceptional, except my only gripe is this : on the burger, everything was cooked to perfection, but the bread was cold.. still delicious, just will ask for it to be toasted next time. Ethan was beyond phenomenal, most people might shy away from his vibe and attitude but we loved what he was laying down and we drank it up. Despite being a party of 6 with an auto grat of 20% Ethan earn 19.5% ... no just kidding we left beyond 20, his recommendations and quick service hasn't been seen this side of the mason Dixon line or HWY 10 ...in I can't remember! Service was whatever, our server checked on us once or twice, but my F-I-L clearly didn't like his meal & any decent server would have noticed & asked if they could fix it or replace it. We're 5 adults and a 1-year-old. No wonder our server only came by once or twice, she had included my 1-year-old as a party of 6 so we were charged a 20% automatic gratuity. There was no kids menu, no kids utensils or even a plastic cup for water - which is fine - not every place needs to accommodate children, but to include him for automatic gratuity when no service was provided is incredibly disrespectful. We started to demolish the pulled pork before I could get a full picture. Spaghetti western had a generous amount of bacon. Everything was extremely delicious, I wish I had a bottomless pit for a stomach so I could eat more. Cool saloon decor/layout and the musician made the entire experience come together. We were sat quickly with a reservation. Server was friendly. Ambiance is great. Very kind of Can-can saloon feel with game heads, balconies, pool tables, and lots of woodwork. Food was decent, but not great. We had Hot Honey Pepperoni Flatbread, Penne with Parmesan Cream Sauce and Mushrooms x2, Spaghetti Western Pasta with grilled chicken, Chicken Parmesan, Buttered Noodles, and a Banana Chocolate Old Fashioned. The Flatbread and drink were the best. The pastas were ok. Spaghetti Western had an artificial smoke taste and was very sour. The penne with mushrooms did not have a fresh made sauce taste, but was ok. The chicken patmesan was a little thick and would do better as a pounded cutlet. We needed to season everything. We didn't have salt and pepper on the table, had to steal from the table next to us. Server didn't check back on us after the food was delivered for a few minutes. Very pricey menu, which plays into the expectation level on food and service. Overall, ok, but we won't be back for awhile. read more

You can see this place is set up for a rip roaring good time combining the owners Italian roots and old west history. I learned Neapolitan/Sicilian cuisine from my husband family and I make my own pasta. I did not expect Spaghetti Westerns dishes to meet my standards but I was pleasantly surprised. I had the date salad and garlic flat bread. I just love when a chef takes local ingredients and lets their creative juices flow. My husband had the bolognese. Pasta done right. First time trying this place so here's my take on it. Service: The staff are really friendly and efficient. Food: We both ordered the tomato bisque and although tasty it is really salty. I ordered the 8oz flat iron steak ($35) and was surprised how small the meat portion was. The only side it comes with is a large portion of fries, no veges at all. I had to order a separate side of roast carrots ($10 extra) but although tasty some weren't cooked as thoroughly as others and were pretty hard. Honestly it would be better value if the amount of fries were halved and seasonal veges included. I was pretty underwhelmed. My partner had the Vege burger ( again with tons of fries) and she said it was amazing!!! It looked really good too. Desert: we tried the cheesecake and the triple chocolate cookie skillet al la mode. The cheesecake was fantastic as was the cookie. The "scoop" of ice cream was tiny however. A reasonable size scoop would've melted nicely in the hot skillet. Overall the experience was ok, just let down a little by the value for money regarding my meal. From past good experiences, I really wanted to like this again. Unfortunately, it was not to be. Staff was obviously undermanned (one waitress much of the time), so service was kind but scattered. Drink was incomplete, and took all the meal prep time to correct. Sadly the entree was essentially missing one of its featured ingredients (mushrooms), which was my main motivator for going. Other deficiencies will go unmentioned. Alas, the bill finally arrived with incorrectly priced items. We need more restaurants like this in the morongo basin, but that being said I do have a little gripe...
