The launch area can be a little difficult if you're not super agile or if your paddle board is heavy - the best way I can describe it is it's a sloped staircase made of wood planks and dirt (I think it was about 5-6 steps if I remember correctly). It wasn't difficult going down, however, I was using my friend's Bote SUP, which is pretty heavy and it was difficult for me to carry it up the steps especially after a difficult and physical paddle with windy conditions. If I was using a lighter board I don't think it would've have been too difficult for me. This park also has nice a cute little playground and clean restrooms that are open year round. There is a covered picnic area with grills. And the parking lot at both the launch area and near restrooms are paved. We were there at low tide and the water was very shallow in some areas - so shallow that we had to get off our SUPs at one point and pull them through the water a few feet so we didn't damage our fins. It was great having the shallow waters because we saw LOTS of stingrays, horseshoe crabs and fish! Also lots of water birds throughout our paddle! One of the islands that we stopped at had a nice beach area and beautiful dead tree that made for great photo ops! All in all, this is a great location to launch for SUP and kayak. We will definitely go back and hopefully see dolphins and/or manatees the next time!

The Enchanted Forest Sanctuary in Titusville, Florida, is a 470-acre nature preserve. It is a…read moreflagship Environmentally Endangered Lands (EEL) property and offers visitors an opportunity to experience one of Florida's most diverse natural landscapes. In 1911, Edgar W. Ellis, J. H. Beckwith, and a consortium of developers established the Titusville Fruit and Farm Lands Company after acquiring 22,500 acres of marshland within the historic Delespine Grant. Their ambitious goal was to drain the wetlands and convert them into productive farmland. What they failed to appreciate was the massive coquina rock ridge hidden beneath the landscape. Excavation equipment proved incapable of cutting through the rock, preventing completion of the project's main canal. Without adequate drainage, the venture collapsed financially. Ironically, this failed engineering project was the very thing that helped preserve the land in its natural state. Nearly a century later in he 1990s, the property was designated for conservation, becoming the very first acquisition under Brevard County's Environmentally Endangered Lands (EEL) Program. On August 27, 1999, the Enchanted Forest Sanctuary officially opened to the public. Today, visitors can explore a unique ecosystem where northern temperate and southern subtropical habitats overlap. The sanctuary contains five distinct habitat types, oak scrub, mesic hammock, hydric hammock, wet prairie, and pine flatwoods that support abundant native wildlife. You may see gopher tortoises, white-tailed deer, bobcats, Florida scrub lizards, and even the rare Eastern indigo snake. More than 4.5 miles of well-maintained hiking trails starting at the visitors center wind through the preserve, making it excellent for hiking, wildlife observation, birdwatching, and nature photography. The Management & Education Center features interactive exhibits that explain the sanctuary's natural history and diverse habitats. You may want to stop in here first because the center also offers trail maps, restrooms, and a water fountain for visitors. On weekends, the sanctuary offers free naturalist-led guided hikes lasting approximately 45 minutes and covering about one mile of the trail system. These walks typically include portions of the Coquina, Biodiversity, Mesic, Tomoka, and Tortoise Trails while introducing visitors to Florida's endangered upland ecosystems and the plants and animals that call them home. One of the preserve's most distinctive historical features is the network of overgrown canals, remnants of the failed agricultural project from more than a century ago. Now recognized as a Florida Heritage Site, these canals stand as a lasting reminder of an ambitious engineering vision that nature ultimately reclaimed. Enchanted Forest Sanctuary is one of Titusville's true natural gems. It's a beautiful place where history and nature exist side by side. Unfortunately when I came when the weather was pushing a 105 degrees. They were also doing a prescribed burn on some of the trails so they were closed and the air was smokey. You do need to sign in at the front desk. Sometimes there is someone at the desk to greet you. There are accessible restrooms inside the main building. There are a few different trials, in which all are marked. Throughout the trials, there are clear signs and markings as you navigate your way through the sanctuary. I love the coquina trial. **INITIAL REVIEW**…read more The Cape Canaveral Lighthouse Tour (which I will shorthand simply to the Lighthouse Tour) has been one of those "backyard adventures" I've been wanting to go on for the longest time. Eventually, I was able to partake in said adventure with my friends, Nate and Chops. Afterwards, I have to say that even for a probably "one-and-done" for a tour, it is definitely worth every penny spent. This tour was everything I wanted and loved, and it delivered. First and foremost, the actual business building for the Lighthouse Tour is nothing you have to worry about. According to all the tours, you will meet up at the Sands Space Museum and take a charter van to multiple locales on the tour. Before we get to the actual tour I partook in, it should be noted there are numerous tour options such as the museums alone, the lighthouse alone, or the full experience. Prices range from $35 (lighthouse only) to $65 (full tour). I went with the latter which includes numerous museums, historic launch sites, and the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse. It should also be noted that the more you do, the longer the tour. The full tour is four hours long. Please take note the things you need to check before the tour such as wearing shoes if you plan to walk up the five floors of the lighthouse, small bags allowed with small closed-contained foods and drinks only. Finally, you need to fill out a clearance check as all the stops, with the exception of Sands Space Museum, is on the Cape Canaveral Air Force Military Base. With those in mind, the full tour - known as the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse and Space Flight Tour - is all the stops if possible. I say "if possible" because some stops may be closed for maintenance or upgrades. For us, The Sands Space Museum, where the tour stars, was closed for renovation. However, the museum is free and not on protected property so I can go back and check it out. We visited four different launch sites, three museums, and the Cape Canaveral lighthouse. I personally loved the lighthouse and Hanger "A" which housed some of the larger historic rockets and jets that have helped bring NASA and the U.S. military where it is now. I personally was surprised that the first drone was used as target practice. I can't really detail everything I saw or this would become one my longest reviews, longer than I usually do. Just know that, like I said earlier in the review, for a possible one-and-done, it is worth every penny. However, if you really want to make sure the tour is a one-and-done, pay for the full tour. You'll have enough time to visit everything within the four hours, and if anything is closed, they'll take you to the Canaveral National Seashore, which was amazing because it is literally almost "untouched" by tourism. I will give this tour four out of five stars. I am not going to say consistency will earn the fifth star because only a super fan will take this tour numerous times... or work for the tour company. I will say that the lacking star has to do with the price. It can be high overall especially if stops are closed for some reason.

I definitely did not get to appreciate all the museum offers. A return trip is necessary! The museum features all sorts of historic military aircraft, artifacts, exhibits, and displays spanning decades of aviation history. Museum staff have definitely paid attention to the details. I could not see any evidence of decay or rust on the amazing aircraft and vehicles they featured. Even though that are stationed outside, look like they're in pristine condition! If you or your family members appreciate an up close and personal look at military aircraft, this is a place you will want to visit! There is a lovely gift shop with all sorts of clothing and merchandise to commemorate your visit.

Ergo, it is understandable why most of the educational locales, especially museums, are dedicated to such. However, Titusville has a rich aviation history, too, such as Arthur Dunn Airpark (the first airport in Titusville and North Brevard) serving as a training facility during World War II. In honor and remembrance of Titusville's rich aviation history, let along aviation history in general, Valiant Air Command, Warbird Museum (which I will shorthand to Warbird for the remainder of this review) has educated and enamored patrons on such for over 45 years. And it seems there are no signs of them slowing down, too. Though an address is provided, Warbird consists of three hangers which can house over 100 different aviation aircraft within the heart of Space Coast Regional Airport. First and foremost, it must be noted that its operating hours are very public-friendly as they are open every day of the week with banker's hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $25 onsite with two dollars off if purchased online. There is an excellent student and military service discount, too. As for the museum itself, it consists of three hangers and a part of the airstrip that can hold up to around 100 aircraft at a time. Without spoiling all the aircraft on site, there are many recognizable aircraft such as a Blue Angel, Red Baron, F-14 Tomcat Fighter Jet, and even the historic World War II airplane, the Tico Belle. Either through a volunteer or a guided tour, patrons can go inside many of the planes. They are also the ones you ask if you want to fly in one of their active cockpit simulators which gives you the exprience of flying without the risk. There are two "general museum" displays, too. The first is in the initial hanger you enter and has a wide range on aviation including gear, parephanalia, and history. The two displays that gave most of my attention were female pilots during World War II and the Tuskegee Airmen, the first Black American pilots and support regime in U.S. history. And the second is on the Vietnam War. A couple of final notes, there is a canteen for patrons to rest and enjoy refreshments from vending machines, a couple of restrooms for your convenience, and a gift shop filled with items to help commemorate the visit. Overall, Warbird is a fine museum to go to. There is so much to do and so much to see, and at the price point that is high enough to understand as the planes need constant care, but low enough compared to other venues that it is a steal, I suggest Warbird to anyone who like history, muesuems in general, or wants to try or enjoy something unique to Titusville let alone the Space Coast. Not to mention, you can get everything done in one visit so for my initial review, I am giving Warbird five-out-of-five stars. Not many flaws to think of unless you want to consider the drive, but besides that, definitely worth the visit.

Along with a shooting range and training academy, the APHOF showcases the history of police while honoring those who walked the Thin Blue Line. To be fair, the museum is not the biggest in size but it packs a lot in its small space just like the Veterans Museum in Merritt Island does. Going counter-clockwise, you'll learn the history of police and law enforcement over the centuries including the 1600s to 1800s which used stocks to today which uses our more modern means. You'll also learn about different branches of police like the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Protection Service and many others. I definitely enjoyed sitting in the boat for Police Coast Patrol. The center of the museum is a memorial to police officers who died during duty. It is filled with many flowers and pictures from families who want to remember and honor their fallen loved ones. There is also a chapel which possibly does services or memorials. Ultimately, this is one nice museum and a definite must-visit for those who respect the Thin Blue Line. Only issue I have is the entry fees not being readily available for everyone to see. We found out about the price of admission when we got there. Still, the APHOF should at least be visited once if you live on the Space Coast. And if you're someone who belives in the 2nd and shoots guns, they also have a shooting range too.
