I went to…read moreH&R Block 4 days before the tax deadline and approached the team with all of my documents uploaded to their portal and asked to get a quote for my taxes, they dodged an answer to my question, that was the first red flag. The next red flag came when a different tax specialist (person #2) from the one that I was informed would be doing my taxes (person #1) and the one that I had a conversation with in regards to my tax situation called me 1 day before the tax deadline asking me questions about my tax situation such as my address which was clearly listed on my documents and also provided during registration for the service. The third red flag - the day my taxes are due, the tax specialist (person #2) quoted me a higher written price over what he communicated with me over the phone. The fourth red flag - I check my taxes and realize the information is incorrect (partially due to documents not being loaded on their site correctly because they have a bug on their site - even though I have already talked to person #2 about all the documents that should have been on there, shouldn't he have caught that while I was talking about the document and he didn't see it). The fifth red flag - I reach out to person #1 explaining my taxes are not done right and last minute, hours before the tax deadline they complete my taxes with a higher service rate ( as I now have 2 more documents which need to be added to my tax return - due to their systems inability to show my loaded documents). After explaining that I do not think this is fair to increase the price on me and I since they have already put in the work to file my returns I would like to move forward with our originally agreed price (that mind you I have already paid) - person #1 says don't worry about us, you handle your tax returns, our price is set. So now I have to do my taxes on my own a few hours before the deadline.... The sixth and worst red flag - Person #1 calls me the next day after the tax deadline has passed and says they won't return my money because they did the leg work for creating my tax return (even though it was wrong, and they did not file it and she told me the night before she would return the amount I paid) and then continued to emotionally harass me stating that I had used them and was morally and ethically a bad person. I don't like defining a group by a set of few bad people, but this experience has been so emotionally straining, I don't think I can ever sponsor a company that has employees within the service industry emotionally traumatizing a person like that and then gaslighting them.
