I saw virtually nothing for my money for 8 weeks even though he estimated the project would take 3 weeks (which I thought was unrealistic). Finally there was a prototype main page that looked like it was designed by a beginner. I listed the problems with the look of the site and its inadequate functionality. Don said he would address each concern individually in the coming week. I never heard back from him again. I phoned, texted & emailed at least 10 times. He texted me once to say he's on the phone and please text him. I did so but no reply. I don't know for a fact that he is in SF. I think his SF address in the Inner Richmond may be a fake address. I never met him in person. I hired him because he said he was local. As of now he has wasted four and a half months of development time and ripped me off for $400.00

This website represents a new entrepreneurial direction for me and Marcos was able to support my goals by offering excellent business advice as well as contacts to his fellow UC students for help with some of the leg work. GeekBears works with Word Press. I was wary of going with a Word Press site given that it's more complicated than Square Space or Wix. I considered going with an e-commerce site like Shopify. Marcos explained the pros and cons of all these options. In deciding how to move forward I weighed out the costs vis a vis hassle potential vis a vis aesthetics and decided to work with Marcos as I trusted that Geekbears would be a hassle free experience at a fair price. And indeed it was. Marcos VERY PATIENTLY taught me how to edit my Word Press site (which is remarkably easy). I'm a filmmaker and a small business owner. For the past 20 years I've hired various groups and individuals to design and implement my websites. Working with Geekbears has been the least stressful and most satisfying experience. For one thing Marcos does this thing that few people twice his age know how to do - it's called "listening". And for such a young man he is also remarkably empathetic around how very stressful creating a website can be. Jason had quoted a quick turnaround - 2 weeks for a logo re-design and a total of 6 weeks for the web site to go live. 1/31/2023 - received a quote from Jason at Voco Design 2/1/2023 - I accepted the quote and paid my 50% deposit 2/9/2023 - logo re-design delivered and accepted 3/8/2023 - web site mock ups delivered and accepted 4/12/2023 - invoiced for remaining 50% and paid it The following steps is when everything broke down Between May and June of 2023, either myself or Jason was out of town/country, so we could not finalize. 8/2/2023 - Jason requested access to my web hosting server to start uploading. I have not seen any changes to my web site at all. Since then, I have not been able to get a commitment from Jason or his team. Jason has sent me messages saying he was out of town, medical emergencies, etc which I can totally understand and was willing to wait for him. I had called his office and Tom had responded to look into it, but I have now been ignored by Tom as well. As of 2/1/2024 (one year later!!), I have sent an email to Jason and Tom to just close the project. They can refund me some portion of my 100% paid job, but they have not responded. I have changed the password to my web hosting as a precaution. I am willing to call this a loss and mark it as a lesson learned working with design companies.
