The woman who waited on us was nice and friendly. She was informative and helpful. After I received my debit card and used it the first day I checked my account and saw it was taking money out of my mother's account that I was also on. I called the 800 number and the guy who "helped" me was no help at all. He ended up telling me to go to the branch office with my mother. If I had known they linked my new account with my mothers I never would banked with Wells Fargo.

One of the reasons I use Uwharrie Bank is their commitment to the community. The bank is always sponsoring events and supporting local initiatives--support local so your money stays local!! Uwharrie Bank is a North Carolina Bank, and it only has one location in Concord, which obviously gets frustrating when you are across town. Additionally, the location is not open on Saturdays (although they have extended Friday hours which is helpful). I have deposited and used my money continuously; however, they just charged me $7 for "inactivity." I was not sent a notice nor have I been sent an updated debit card to actually use this account, which is why I was only able to use this account for sending/receiving money from friends. I wrote to them this morning to just mail me my remaining balance and close the account. I'm hoping they are fair to those of you who actually have debit cards so that you can give them the activity they need to avoid that and other charges. They used to be so good to me when I lived there, but if you move they don't communicate with you and just do things without attempting to contact you. At least that had been my experience.
