My husband and I were in South Bend for a week, staying at an extended stay hotel in the area. Looking for something to do on a Friday night, I did an internet search. A church banquet was mentioned as one of the "things to do in South Bend" on Saturday night. I called the church office to find out more about it. The very friendly and helpful office administrator, Alberta, told me that there were no more banquet tickets available. However, she told me that there was going to be a comedy show that night at the church but to come an hour earlier for some refreshments. She said the church was celebrating its 90th birthday with several special events lined up for the weekend. We arrived to meet many very welcoming, warm and friendly people. The snacks were great, the comedy show was very funny, tickets were provided for the banquet, the vocalist after the banquet was excellent, the church service on Sunday was superior, we were asked to join a new group of friends for lunch, invited to return on Wednesday night for more music from the same vocalist, plus we were invited to dinner before the Wednesday night service. We have visited many churches over the years, but this one, by far, is at the top of the list for friendliness and Christ-like hospitality. read more
