Chad's Automotive

Chad's Automotive

First off, I rarely post reviews, but people need to know about this one. My Nissan Juke broke down…read morein Evanston Wyoming and this shop had the best reviews so I had it towed there. The receptionist lady told me that the entire engine needed to be replaced and that I could either pay them $10,000 for them to fix it, or just scrap the car and get something new. I spoke to Chad, the automotive technician and he told me he ran a compression test to confirm and that my car was only giving 30 pounds instead of the expected 160 pounds, and confirmed that it did indeed need a full new engine. He said I was looking at several months for them to be able to order the parts and the engine, wait for shipping, and complete the installation. I still owed $10,000 on my car since I was financing it and I had only driven it 22,000 miles in my entire 4 year ownership of it, so it was hard for me to believe that it needed a full new engine. I gave them my auto warranty company information and Chad told me he would reach out to them on Friday, but when I spoke to the receptionist lady on Tuesday for an update, she got super defensive and told me that she has a hard time believing that Chad told me he would contact my warrantee company because he doesn't submit claims to warranty companies. She said she needed to order all of the parts brand new so that they would be covered by their own warranty. Something felt very off so I called AAA, and I had my car towed to Auto Pro in Utah. The mechanic there was able to fix my car same day and it only really needed new spark plugs. I sold my car to Carvana the very next day, and they said there were no mechanical issues at all when they did their full inspection. Chad's Automotive was clearly trying to take advantage of me (maybe because they're in Evanston and don't get a lot of business, or maybe I'm a woman and don't know much about cars?). Just sharing my experience, proceed with caution and make sure you get a second opinion. If you have AAA premium, they will tow your car for free to someone more reliable.

Well, long story short, the thermostat was wonking out and we wanted to have it looked at. Chad was backed up for a week but said he'd take a quick look at it. Well he fiddled with some hoses and switches, answered all of our questions, told us to track the engine oil and assessed that we were probably good to go. He gave us a grin and said "I'd go for it". So, 15 minutes later we are rolling down the road with our fingers crossed and incredibly grateful to Chad for taking some time out of his busy schedule to help out a few dudes...Seriously, it's all about the humanity man. Update from 1,000 miles later: the truck is running great and we have not had any more troubles with the thermostat. Also it appears that Chad secretly fixed the heater and seatbelt alarm. This truck is running like a youngster again!

We ended up buying two new tires. Service was good, fast, and friendly. This is the place to go if you need help with your tires off I-80 going west. Thanks guys-real life savers!!!

This is a pre-COVID experience but they did such a good job, I'm still going to post it…read more I was driving cross country in December. I did all the things you're supposed to do before a road trip and still had an issue at 7pm, 30 miles east of Evanston, in 9degree weather. My tire was losing pressure but not quickly. A nice Wyomingite stopped and offered to follow me to Evanston to ensure I got there safely. I got a hotel room, filled my tire, sobbed on the phone to my fiancé, and snuggled my dog. I'm lol be honest, I've always lived in a city so the idea of almost getting stuck in the rural cold was scary. The next morning, my fiancé said "Go to Plains Tires and ask for Wayne, he'll take care of everything". I walk in and a guy at the desk (presumably Wayne) says "I'm guessing you're Kendra...I have instructions not to bother you with questions but just to ask for your keys". I gratefully handed over my keys and then took them back and said "Oh I forgot about my dog! I guess I'll take him for a walk while y'all work". The man said "Is he friendly?" I nodded "Then why don't you just bring him inside?" "Oh, I couldn't ask that of y'all". "Ma'am, it's 11 degrees outside and this is Wyoming...we do what we want here. Bring your dog in to the waiting room and relax". Then he turned on HGTV and went about dealing with my tires. This was about the kindest gesture this man could have offered after the last 14 hours was to give me and my 95lb GSD some space to be safe, warm, and relax.
