Krispy Kreme - Donuts are NOT made on site!

This world-famous doughnut and coffee chain first opened in 1937, and the brand is still going strong, having celebrated its 80th birthday last year (on 13 July). There are over 1,000 stores around the world - with New Zealand now in the mix, 35 countries selling these divine doughnuts! In February, Krispy Kreme opened its first New Zealand store in Manukau and its second store last month at Auckland Airport's domestic terminal. It has been a roaring success ever since! The new Krispy Kreme store in Chancery is extra special - it is not just a second store, but a brand-new look for Krispy Kreme - first of its kind in the world. It is Krispy Kreme like you have never experienced before! Are you excited yet?! I went along to Krispy Kreme's new store in Chancery for an exclusive sneak peak. This new branch is dubbed as the Kaleidoscope store and is super cool. Set to be a more colorful sensory experience, the outside resembles the dozen doughnut box with Krispy Kreme's iconic dots, and neon signage out front. The inside of the store is playful and fun - there is a ceiling of sprinkles, neon lighting and a giant pink doughnut seat. Sold. There are many enticing doughnuts to choose from, such as Original Glazed, Caramel Iced, Caramel Delight, Kookies N Kreme and Strawberry Jam. Doughnuts range from $3 to $3.50 and if you get a box (say 4, 12 or 24), the price is cheaper per doughnut. Krispy Kreme have just brought out four new Christmas doughnuts, which are available in store now. These include: Krispymas Pudding, Wreath with M&M's, Christmas Tree and Snowy, complete with a sour strap scarf - too cute! Coffee, Milkshakes, Thickshakes and Sundaes are on the menu too, plus my forever favourite Kreme Shakes. The best one (in my opinion) is the Original Glazed Kreme Shake, topped with whipped cream and a quarter mini glazed doughnut. It tastes EXACTLY like an Original Glazed Doughnut in liquid form. Swoon. Also highly recommend the Hokey Pokey, which has a nice chocolate-y taste and pieces of honeycomb to munch on. Yum! The Krispy Kreme Chancery Square store is also available on Uber Eats, giving users in Central Auckland the chance to get delicious doughnuts delivered to their door. Check out the pick up and delivery window below! I am so excited about the new Krispy Kreme store in Chancery, Auckland CBD. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Coffee & Donuts - Entrance just draws you in!

I wanted this place to be amazing -- their entrance is so inviting, and it's super close to my…read morehouse... and potentially on the way to everywhere. It's just by the Britomart transport centre, in the Laundromat boutique. Unfortunately, the coffee is just okay, and at $4, not really worth it. I had the chocolate donut... enh... a donut can never be BAD, but it didn't seem very fresh (early in the morning?!) and at $5 and for the calories/sugar intake involved, I'd rather head over to Little & Friday.... bummer.

I read about Coffee & Donuts from my weekly Denizen update. Having just had a discussion the day…read morebefore with my boss' wife about our love of donuts, I emailed it through to her. We were both v excited. I think maybe I don't really pay attention to the names of places when I go there.. They just do coffee and donuts. They don't even do tea?! This isn't really a problem, but I suppose I was kind of expecting a bit more than what they had on offer. Don't get me wrong, the environment is cool, I love the atmosphere - having clothes around to buy is never a problem - but I was expecting Bluebells style donuts for a place that is called "Coffee & Donuts". The donuts here are the ones made by Loaf and whilst perfectly tasty, they don't have that x-factor. Maybe it was just that they didn't have any cream filled ones, and that's all I was dreaming of... In saying that, though, this is a little cafe in the back of a clothes shop. It's not a place where you're going to go for a long sit down with friends and order multiple things off the menu. For a quick sugar fix, you should totally stop by. They only have about 14 seats in the place, so small numbers is good.

Those are all the things I've tried from here, but we can extrapolate from this data and assume that most of the food here is pretty good. Oh, also I've had the bread, and it was good. So yeah, not a bad average, I think. This place does a good trade over the weekend and after school (try and avoid this period as the tiny place fills up with hulking, shouty teenagers all clamouring for pies), but if you go mid-morning or around lunchtime it's usually not too busy. The staff are friendly, the food is good, it's worth going if you like bakery food. Highlight: steak curry pie. Lowlight: still the quiche, I'm afraid.

The Boston Bakery (for which I have no idea why it is named after a city in the States!), is quite unassuming and from the outside isn't very distinguishable from any other old school bakery. Except that first of all the family that run it are the loveliest people and if you're lucky their little super adorable daughter will run the EFTPOS machine for your purchase. They also cherish their regulars; for example my partner used to be a regular and then moved overseas for 3 years and they still remembered her after all that time! And then there's the pies, oh sweet sweet delicious heaven-sent morsels of delight! They have the standard fare which drive a hard bargain at $3.60, but then they also have 'fancy' pies for $4.20 which include rockstar gems like Steak, Mushroom, Bacon and Cheese, or Chicken, Camembert and Cranberry, or Steak and Kumara, or Butter Chicken and Broccoli. My personal favs are the first 2 aforementioned pies and I really have to discipline myself as I have to walk past the Boston Bakery twice a day, 5 days a week. If you are in Mt Albert and need to fill the gap, swoop up one of these hand-made with love treats.
