Ahhh Baton Rouge, you know your city/town has made it when a Costco is located there…read more I always stop here whenever staying or passing through Baton Rouge due to the gas. But while staying here, I do stop in to mosey around and see what products/items this location offers that's unique to other locations. The difference is they have some LSU memorabilia and a few Louisiana condiments and beverages you can't find elsewhere. As always, there's all the grocery aisles which consist of the bulk items from the deli and bakery. And of course, those hot items such as the rotisserie chicken and rack of ribs. Cold items including the wraps, cocktail shrimp, salads, and the ready-to-eat meals adorn this place too. I'll sometimes grab one of the meals and let it last for days whenever I'm on travel and staying in one of the hotels around. Since this Costco has been open for several years, it's evident there's some wear and tear around the warehouse. The parking lot can be a bit dirty as well so check your surroundings when here.

I have 3 specific instances that forced me to find another tire company to use. 1. The first is, I ran over a nail, and when I went in to get the tire plugged after shopping and waiting for over an hour, they told me they couldn't fix the tire and it cost me about $200 out of pocket for a replacement. What's the warranty for if I'm paying that kind of money for another tire? 2. I went in to get a tire checked for a slow leak and after spending another hour and a half wandering around the store, the tech tells me there's nothing wrong with it! I told him to check it again because the tire kept losing pressure. After another 30 minutes he tells me it was an old plug that was leaking and they fixed it. Why did I have to tell him that? I wasn't imagining things but he wanted to waste my time twice just to get the tire repaired. Thankfully I didn't accept his explanation and pressed the issue. 3. My tires were due to be rotated and balanced and they told me that the tread on the front are much lower than the back so they couldn't do it but would be happy to sell me some new ones...no thanks. Luckily it only took 30 minutes for them to tell me that and if I need new tires, I'm going somewhere that can get me in and out without waiting for hours and who has techs that I have confidence in. Also, one final note, whenever I leave their tire service, there's always grease and oil on my fabric door panels that I have to clean. It's a small thing but irritates the crap out of me that I usually have to clean my car when I leave this place because of greasy hands leaving smears. The employees are nice but if I have an issue, it's a long wait with so-so results that usually costs me money even though I have a "warranty". I'll just go elsewhere for tires.

I always stick to the cheap area on the right. So far I've bought a futon, a tall shelving unit with wicker sides, a ~5' tall bookcase, and a rice cooker. Most things have stickers with dates, the prices dropping as each date passes. If a date drop is close enough, they may go ahead and give it to you for that price, even if the date hasn't passed yet. I can't remember what I spent on the futon and shelving unit, but the bookcase was just a smidge under $9 and the rice cooker was $5. The workers are polite and helpful. They cleared off the bookshelf for me and loaded it into my vehicle. The store accepts cash and cards.

I told them what I needed and they jumped right on it. I drove there and picked up the cake two hours later and it was beautifully decorated and delicious. I appreciate what they do there and I couldn't thank them enough.

An unfortunate thing about TSS is you can't expect to find the same things every time you go, so if you get attached to something you may be in for a huge disappointment when you go back and it isn't there. The fresh fruit and vegetable section of this store is sometimes a little.. unappealing. I have to remove a star for all of the brown leaves on the greens, but there have been times when I got five mangoes for $1 and they were fresh and excellent so your mileage may vary. The selection is awesome, though, and I find a lot of things fitting my current season - snacks without seed oils or refined sugar, rotisserie chickens that make wonderful dinners, lots of cool prepared stuff in the freezer section - like soup dumplings - and lots and lots of assorted gadgets and goodies. Today's tastings were on point, too - especially that quiche thing - fam, it was so, so very good. The employees are friendly, the store is clean, the parking lot is big, and the baskets hold more than you need...trust me, the freezer is hard to close and there are a few things stored in my bedroom. I'm definitely a bigger fan of Member's Mark, but Costco has some items you won't find at the blue store - like that maple syrup aged in bourbon casks or whatever it is. So so soooooo good. I can't wait for the next hiking day so I can make a plate of pancakes and drench them in the syrup. I almost wanna have it in a shot glass, really. Yet, when I arrived and told them of my troubles finding a decorative vent hood for a 10 ft ceiling, they got RIGHT ON IT. They found a very reasonably priced hood with the correct extension IN STOCK, so we wouldn't have only a pipe showing at the top waiting for months for it to come from China so we could install it and finish trimming it out with crown molding. Since we were soon planning to put our house up for sale. One of their guys even installed it on his day off. They were an absolute godsend. Can't thank them enough. Wonderful people!
