We caught so many fish in 4.5 hours we were having to take breaks due to exhaustion from fighting the whoppers we were reeling in. We limited out on Red Snapper in no time and caught Mahi and other types as well, 135 lbs of fish total. All of this was done on an afternoon when other boats were bringing in far fewer fish...they were staring at our bounty in awe as Captain Dave was hanging the fish on the board to take a picture for us. For seasoned veterans or beginners like us I couldn't recommend Reel Contenders any higher. We will definitely be going out with Captain Dave on our next trip back to Panama City!!

We opted for the 10 Hour Trip (2 hours out, ~6 hours of fishing, 2 hours back). Quick edit: we only had ~26 people fishing and I'm thankful for that! It was coooooold the morning of and it had stormed the previous two days. Thankfully we were prepared. I'd recommend bringing a book bag or light sack with: sunscreen, hat, glasses, long sleeve shirt/hoodie, Gatorade, rain jacket and change of shirt. They do provide sunscreen, medicine, food, snacks and drinks onboard for a cost (see my menu photos). It was ROUGH going out, thanks to the storms leaving. We hit 5-6 foot waves and it was bumpy on some parts. I almost lost my stomach and went to the back of the boat for fresh hair for the last 45 minutes going out. There were a few people who got really sick. Make sure you clean your system out before getting on the boat (ie: get your out) because the two bathrooms are tiny. We were assigned fishing spots (dad got us back of the boat) and had buckets of squid ready to go. Capt would hit his horn, letting you know it was time to drop the line in. You'd pretty much either get something right away or nothing. It didn't take long to get the hang of it: drop to the bottom, reel twice up, keep the line tight, jerk the rod when you feel a nibble, reel up and check rod pressure to ensure you got something. It's a very quick process! One thing you'll notice is the different arm muscles you'll use. I caught the only Grouper for this trip and it certainly tired my wrist out. I literally got a Charlie horse in my wrist and toe after hauling that sucker onboard. It wasn't Red Snapper season (June 1st) but my dad caught 3 huge Red Snappers. We got to keep 10 B-Liners each, and also caught some white snapper. Overall, we hit our limit and caught extra for others on the boat. The helpers did an awesome job! The ride coming back in was pleasant and we sat on top of the boat. It was a fun experience! Make sure to tip the Captain and your helper! Great crew and they got the job done! There is also a fish cleaning place at the dock that'll fillet the fish for you at $.80/lb.

The air conditioning and potty onboard are a must when fishing with kids. My oldest daughter (now 13) is obsessed with sharks and was able to catch her first one with Captain Black when she was 8! The guys at Blue Water are super professional and really want you to catch sportfish. Every one on the boat has a captains license and the seas were really rough when we went and we felt comfortable the entire time. The boat was beautiful with leather interior in the sitting area an hdtv, two cabins and two bathrooms. I think it slept 6-8. It is really nice. We liked the guys so much we went redfishing in the flats yesterday on their bay boat. Overall it was a great experience!

They went above and beyond and made our entire party feel very welcome. The boat is VERY nice and clean. The A/C worked great, however we enjoyed being on the deck the entire trip. Justin and Brent worked very well together and moved spots when we weren't being successful. Everyone ended up catching a fish and we all had a great time. We saw dolphins, pelicans, beautiful homes by the water. We were instructed on how to fish. Even though my daughter and son had motion sickness for a part of the trip they still enjoyed it. We all caught a lot of fishes and had a fabulous time. August and Griffith were great, thorough and helpful. The boat was also really clean. Of note, the charter boat does have a bathroom. So glad we did this activity while we are here at PCB. Highly recommended.

My brother in law and I went out yesterday, and Captain Nick took great care of us. We were…read moreoriginally scheduled to depart at 4:00 pm, but due to a no show/no call (who does that?!) by a charter scheduled for earlier in the day, we were contacted to see if we wanted to go out earlier. Given the forecast of storms later in the day, we headed toward the marina within minutes. While on the way to the marina, Captain Nick called to make sure we were aware of the less than ideal conditions and to advise us that he'd do everything he could to make sure we got out and caught some fish as long as it was safe to do so. He knew we were making about an hour drive in traffic to get there, so I appreciated him calling to make sure we knew what to expect. We were greeted upon arrival and on our way out shortly thereafter. We had some rough waters with storms hugging the coast and what became a tropical storm the next day rolling in, but Captain Nick made sure we stayed as comfortable and dry as possible on our way out to some fishing spots. We made several stops and had bites just about every time we dropped a line. Captain Nick did a great job of explaining and demonstrating the technique for each type of fish, and he showed great patience with a couple midwesterners accustomed to setting hooks while bass fishing. We lost a number of fish (likely due to midwesterner operator error), but came in with 3 red snapper, 4 Mahi, and a white snapper. We also pulled in several other red snapper and a gag grouper which were put back because they didn't meet size limitations. It seems we didn't catch what other O Sea D charters had as of late, but I attribute that to weather conditions and in no way fault Captain Nick - he knows his stuff and his spots, as we had action nearly all of the time we were fishing. As the wind would push us away from the hot spots we'd pull up our bait, and he'd put us right back on top of the fish. Once the trip ended we headed back to the marina, and Captain Nick set us up for some pictures with our haul then cleaned everything for us to take home and eat. We had a cooler but not enough ice, and Captain Nick was gracious enough to load us back up with ice for the trip home. We had quite the feast that night, (some grilled and some fried) and all of it pulled from the gulf no more than 6 hours before we ate it! Within a couple hours after our charter ended, Captain Jeff (the owner) followed up with me to make sure we had a good time despite the tough conditions. He also sent me a photo Captain Nick had taken of us with our catch. Long story short, these guys are top notch in knowledge and customer service. We will be back for sure, and can't wait to bring others with us next time!

Jeff was super detail oriented and answered all of our questions about fishing on the ride out to his favorite fishing spots. We immediately started catching big red snappers! Aiden went above and beyond his duties making sure everyone on the boat was situated with their fishing pole and bait.
