The SCE vets have been caring for our horses for close to twenty years. They are the best in the south Atlanta area.

Our long-time vet is a good person but, sometimes good people age-out or attitude-out of their profession and don't quite realize that they have "lost their touch" yet. This is the 2nd time we patronized local to be good to our community over a little voice saying... "head on down to Animal Medical Clinic of PTC. Sure its a little farther from home (Jonesboro) but, they handled the biz of getting your girl healthy last time..." In short: Fabiola has had a rough year of poor health after six very happy, active years of morning 5Ks and hikes all over Georgia! 2nd time Ivey has attended to the needs of Fabiola in the most professional and compassionate manner. 2nd doctor (Dr. Bryant) that has attended to the needs of Fabiola at Animal Medical Clinic of PTC with what seems to be a corporate culture of empathy, compassion and professionalism. 1st time realizing that I'll never need to go to several different vet clinics for a 2nd opinion because Animal Medical Clinic of PTC has several to choose from! Last time that I will cut the drive short when I know THE BEST care and services are just a few more miles/gallons down the road at Animal Medical Clinic of PTC. Last day that Fabiola has pain. We will miss our sweet girl. Certainly going to watch, "All Dogs Go to Heaven" tonight.

If you have a large dog like a German shepherd for example, do not take them here. Our family German shepherd was a patient here. Our beloved Zeus was misdiagnosed several times over and ended up with a severe infection in the spinal column. A purebred and strong animal at the start, this dog was reduced to a paralyzed shell of his former self. And he was not the first to suffer this fate, another German shepherd in Dr. Sprott's care went the same way (you can find this testimonial under the google reviews for Newnan Animal hospital). Zeus had more years left to live and thanks to this doctor's incompetence he was robbed of it! Zeus deserved better (and I wish my parents would've changed vets back when this all started, but they are good, decent and trusting people who put their faith in the wrong vet). Smaller animals seem to have better luck with this vet and his practice. Personally, I would never take any of my animals here. UPDATE: on 5/3/23, my mother called Newnan Animal Hospital for the test results of her surviving dog's blood work. She informed the receptionist of Zeus's untimely passing...the receptionist had not one word of empathy to give. No condolences. Nothing. The vet didn't even bother to call to send his condolences either. Disgusting behavior!!!! Cold. A veterinary practice should be empathetic, just by the very nature and importance of their job. Empathy doesn't exist here. GO ELSEWHERE with your pet.

We tried to get him into the vet that we've been going to for 15 yrs. (They had recommended the same medication he was already on!) Knowing it was time to stop being selfish & time to stop his suffering, we made an extremely hard decision to send him over the rainbow bridge. Our vet, Dr Christy Hand, would not see him until the following week. We did not want to watch him suffer anymore. We called Dogwood Veterinary Hospital. They knew we were struggling & offered to see us the next morning, on a Saturday. They could not have been any kinder. They were very good to us, & our favorite little guy (although there was one injection that caused him pain, which made me very sad, but I guess it was necessary for the process.) They gave us all the time we needed with our pup. We left balling our eyes out, again, they were so kind. A few weeks later we received the sweetest card signed by everyone from the office. Dr. Wayne Morris was wonderful. So glad they cared enough to not want our dog to suffer any longer, when our vet of 15 years was okay with making us/him wait & have a very uncomfortable period of time before she would bring him in. She knew our situation. I was so disappointed. We continue to bring our second dog to Dr. Morris, where we continue to receive excellent care. Also, we're not pressured into anything we don't want, as long as it's not a true necessity. Highly recommend.

My experience with this veterinary hospital was mixed. While I appreciate the care my pet received,…read moreI had some concerns about the billing process and the nutritional recommendations that I think are worth sharing. My primary concern involved the recurring membership billing. After reviewing the overall costs, it appeared that paying for my pet's care as services were needed may have been less expensive than participating in the membership plan. Every pet owner's situation is different, but I believe the costs and potential benefits should be explained more clearly so clients can make an informed decision. I also had a difference of opinion regarding the dog food recommendations. I felt there was a strong preference for the brand sold by the hospital, while my dog has done well for years on a premium-quality food from another manufacturer. I would have appreciated a more open discussion recognizing that there are several quality nutritional options available depending on a pet's individual needs. The hospital's pricing also seemed to be on the higher side compared to other veterinary practices I have used, although that may simply be typical for the area. While I understand that costs vary from clinic to clinic, I personally felt that paying for services individually may have been a better value in my situation. After I shared my concerns, an office employee contacted me to discuss them. During the conversation, they apologized for the misunderstanding regarding the membership billing and offered to refund my final month's membership charge. I appreciated that the practice took the time to reach out, listen to my concerns, and make an effort to resolve the issue. Although we ultimately had different perspectives on the membership program and nutritional recommendations, I appreciate the effort that was made to address my concerns. My hope is that the hospital continues to improve communication about recurring billing and remains open to discussing a variety of appropriate nutritional options so pet owners can make informed decisions for their animals.
