You always hear that St.Lukes sucks...usually someone's aunties cousins brother had a bad…read moreexperience that leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I will say over the years this hospital has evolved. I walked into the ER with some of the worst abdominal pain I've ever felt in my life. I was put in a room within 15 minutes, vitals taken, and waiting for a nurse. The wait was no more than a half hour. I explained what was going on and she said the doctor would be in to talk with me, the wait on the doctor was 10-20 minutes that felt like forever because I was in so much pain, but looking back I am grateful To have been seen as quickly as I was. We ruled out things with imagining and blood work, ultimately we found what was going on and I was in emergency surgery shortly afterwards. Both the ER staff and surgery team that night were so compassionate, understanding and informative. Despite it being midnight they even let my fiancé come see me for accouple minutes before and after the surgery, they were showing her the same level of compassionate and care they showed me. Plus it was helpful to have her answer some questions for me as I was sleepy from pain meds. I deducted a star for the nurses in the unit I was staying in after my surgery. The overnight staff were great, and made sure all my needs were met, including water blankets, helping me in and out of the bathroom. But the switch in staff in the morning wasn't the best. I was discharged with no clear aftercare instructions , I had to ask when I could return to work as she excused me for just the day I had surgery, and then had to walk out to the lobby after having surgery with no support, but to be fair maybe I wasn't vocal enough about my needs I was just ready to Get out of there.

RESULTS: Hey, you have covid and flu and possibly something with heart. Schedule an appt with cardiologist. and here are a few scripts for your covid and flu. Dr. we seen says- "please leave a review regarding your concerns or things will stay the same." So that is why i am leaving this review. Sorry St. Lukes your still a joke Tax paying , health insurance paying, hard working and this is the quality of care we get. Your truely

I've frequented Newport Hospital for specialty care referrals and unfortunately on an occasion that…read morerequired a visit to the emergency room. Each time went as well as can be expected and I would return if the need arose. Parking is generous. Emergency room parking has a lot closer to its entrance. General parking is across the street and I had no issues. If full, there is some street parking in the surrounding areas. If you've never been to this hospital, you must show a government-issued identification card. The receptionist will take your information so that the next time you visit you can simply just give your name and proceed to your appointment area. Homemade masks are not allowed. If you're wearing a cloth mask, one will be given to you that meets their standards. You can wear one or both but mask-wearing is mandated inside the hospital at all times. The nurses and other workers I came into contact with were very helpful. On my first visit, I got lost and someone actually walked me all the way to the area I needed to be in without feeling like I was taking them away from something. My ER visit was a smooth one. I did have to pass through a metal detector so that was the only odd thing. I get it, at some point, something has happened to make it a necessity to do things a certain way. My entire ER visit was a little over an hour from check-in to discharge. They even had cable in the room I was placed in while waiting. I just knew I was gonna have a nap while there...nope! Things progressed in a timely manner and I was on my way. If needed, I would choose service at this hospital based on my positive experience.

She is 81yo with a serious health condition. She just needed help to get to the bathroom. I called the hospital was transferred to turner 4 and spoke to whoever answered the phone. I explained what the situation was, I asked if someone can fix my aunts call button. They asked who the patient was, and I told them. The woman said, "oh the light is blinking, it's working. We have a full floor and it's been busy"... I didn't want to lose it on the phone so I simply said she needs assistance getting to the bathroom. I think that crap excuse on the phone made me realize they are not hiring professionals any longer. Nursing and customer service has taken a real nose dive in the past decade or so. I wonder how many older patience are laying in urine and feces because staffing is too busy to check on them in an appropriate amount of time! I hope my aunt doesn't push the call button and it be a life and death. Nothing but negligence in that hospital. Have the ambulance take you to Miriam. They really look after you.

Newport Hospital - Absolutely appalling. I have never met a "nurse" so unprofessional and rude. Even the security and staff agree. 10/10 do not recommend.

Tight visitor parking but free!…read more I had no idea there were visiting hours! (Note: I would understand a nighttime cut off.) FYI: 10am-1pm, 4-7pm. Luckily when I entered to visit someone, it was 3:40. I did have to wait about 15 minutes in line to register with the lobby staff as a visitor. Standing in the line, we were next to the exit door that kept swinging open and getting hit with bursts of cold, January air! I have to say, this was a terrible system. Also, apparently kids under 13 can't visit. My 13 year old was with me and I would have been really upset if I found out after standing in line. This was not posted anywhere but apiece of paper handed to me at the check in station. There is a waiting area. Someone alerts you once it hits 4pm and you can then go and visit. I have to say, I disliked the process. It was clearly posted on the patients door that I needed PPE equipment to visit. The nurses station quickly set us up for success. KUDOS to Miriam. About a year ago at a nearby hospital this was the case with my father but nothing was posted and I found out AFTER I had already been visiting with him! The Nurse we had was well liked by our patient but I found her to be a know it all. Telling my daughter what her pathway to college should be. (Not nursing either.) She also didn't get the message we were visiting and just stood around and took up a lot of our patients time. Keep in mind, we offered to leave to let her do her duties but she rejected. It was mostly standing around and being a part of our time. Overall, our older family members really prefer Miriam. I did think the room was very clean and the floor we were on was quiet.

I left after 10 minutes because I saw I would be there probably 12 hrs. They wouldn't estimate my wait time. The nurse told me there's 8 different triage areas. But wouldn't tell me which one I was out in or how long I could be waiting for even though I asked. Just a rough estimate would have been fine. But nope. And there is ONE nurse triaging all the patients. That is insane. They all act like it's a big fkn party. There must have been 75 ppl in the waiting area and about 35 more in line. And they have ONE NURSE. AND SHE TOOK HER SWEET MERRY TIME. SLOW AS A TURTLE. The ER and hospital throughout is like a 3rd world country. Absolutely unacceptable. If it turns out that I have a heart attack or major heart issue, I am suing Miriam hospital. DO NOT GO HERE. GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE. They should be ashamed. I saw plenty of illegal immigrants in there for the sniffles. And those of us with major health concerns have to wait 12 hours. Get your shit together.
