We ordered the Railbender (red) ale, baked zucchini strips, a house salad, and a half-and-half pizza (one side was sausage, bell pepper, black olive, and mushrooms), and the other side is ham (Canadian bacon) and pineapple.) This place is sure hard to find, but the pizza is surly worth the visit. The restaurant is tucked in the very empty old strip mall and the actual place is in the corner. They have been there over 25 years and the interior is pretty outdated. We had great service, but could of been we were the first customers there for lunch. The staff told us they are very busy during winter the snowbirds, but summers are much slower. If it's your first visit the regular crust is a must to try. Having heard how great the pizza was here, we decided to order take out. I decided to order it anyway. When I walked in to pick it up I was kind of lost as to where to go and some lady working there was kind of rude telling me where to stand while I wait. When paying for the pizza they told me there was additional .50 cent charge for using a card. When we got home was the big disappointment. Although the pizza was very good, there was a 2 inch border around our 16 inch pizza with nothing but dough and a tiny bit of sauce. So the reality was I got a 12" pizza and paid for a 16". That was my first and last time going there. If I write a review, I try to be as accurate as possible. Bottom line....great taste pizza but NOT WORTH IT. read more

Both my husband and I had pizza cravings, and he had Sourdough Pizza on his bookmark list so we decided to give it a try. I was impressed! The restaraunt was decked out in Fall/Halloween decor mixed with Italian themed decor. Upon walking into the restaraunt it smelled amazing with the aromas of fresh Italian ingredients. We were greeted and seated with a smile, given menus and ordered our beverages. Upon studying the menu of Italian goodness, I decided on the three little sourdoughs. They take 3 pieces of amazingily crispy garlic bread, top one with salami, one with pepperoni and the other with Italian sausage, they are then smothered with mozerella cheese and baked to a crispy crunchy OMG mouthwatering goodness. I didn't think I'd be able to eat all three in one sitting, but after the first bite I was hooked. Yum! The prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly, and the restaraunt is clean and bright. Sourdough pizza is so good!!! We had it over 10 years ago and remembered it being really good. We moved back to the area and we were tired of the regular pizza joints and found out sourdough was still around. The cheese pizza is phenomenal. It's seriously some of the best pizza I've had in a really long time. It's absolutely delicious. We have had a couple of the other pizzas but, the cheese is seriously the best. You can't go wrong with a good cheese pizza and you won't be disappointed. This place is usually packed and has a older crowd. But, it looks bigger inside than it does from the outside. There is plenty of space for parking and service is not bad at all. Prices are not terrible but pizzas are smaller than like Barro's. We've been going to Sourdough Pizza for years they use a sausage that we really love and they also make the best potato salad.

Today for lunch, my wife ordered lasagna (which she had earlier this month), but this time the bottom felt like cardboard and was hard to eat. She complained and the manager on duty said she could not do anything for us because she claimed that my wife had eaten 1/2 of the lasagna (which wasn't true). So no refunds, no substitutions, nothing but too bad so sad. So if you don't like your meal, STOP immediately after the first bite. read more

My family has been going here for 25+ years. They have always been extremely slow on service, but it's something I just hoped would get better. But now, instead of trying to have better customer service, they have a huge sign by the host stand that reads something like "if you're inpatient, look to your feet and take them elsewhere." Not a very warm welcome to say the least. I called in a to go order of two salads and cheesy bread. I asked the olives one salad just be placed on the other and she made it very clear they would not do any substitutions. The proportions are significantly smaller in everything. Also, we recieved no utensils with our to go order, so when we left, he had no way of even eating it. Well, Monday night pizza ar Sourdough Pizza is no longer a thing. This restaurant has now started charging $.50 when using a card. I refuse to pay to buy food from them. We spend about $40 + $3 tip a week there, thats $160 a month for the business and $12 in tips lost a month to the business and staff. I hope that $.50 charge your doing works out for you. We use to go here a lot but stopped because of the bad service. Decided to try it again ordered take out just in case!! I was surprised no employee was wearing a mask! The garlic bread was so thin it was shameful. Pizza was just ok nothing special to be honest papa John's is better and cheaper!! And for whatever reason it's cash only right now. Worst experience I have ever been subjected too!!! No one was wearing a mask and the young hostess indicated that MANAGEMENT DID NOT REQUIRE them to wear masks. Kitchen staff was not wearing masks or gloves. No concern for patrons safety or wellbeing. I told the hostess that if you did not care for my healthy and safety then I was not going to buy my pizza. I left and went to my car. The owner came out to my car and accused me of STEALING a pizza. He was yelling and SPITTING at me and my husband. He only stopped his assault when my husband confronted him and only then did the young hostess tell him that we did not pay for the pizza and we did not take the pizza. Pretty unassuming location but don't let it fool you, some of the best pizza in Phoenix - the interior is old school but adds to the charm and confirms you found a true 'you-gotta-be-in-the-know' kinda place. Seriously delicious pizza and incredible prices. Wine selection could be better but this is a pizza joint not some fancy, stuffy place so can't knock them for that. I have read the recent 1 star reviews regarding the masks (or lack there of) - Everyone we saw had masks as they walked in and took them off once they sat down (much like all the other restaurants that are operating during the pandemic) - My advice, if you're scared - stay home. This was my parents' favorite pizza place - went there weekly and many neighborhood and group parties. They've spent a lot of money here. No more. This place doesn't value their business or their customer or staff's live. No masks, no curbside pickup - this place literally forces its customers to risk their lives to buy their pizza. This 10 year old girl was the best service my wife and I have had in a long time. The customer service was outstanding! The pizza was incredible. Not the hostess, the waiter, the cooks, no one had a mask on. Everyone that entered the establishment wore a mask. Masks were mandated in Mesa and their actions or lack there of were very irresponsible. All patrons were seated in this small area on the left with no social distancing at all. I have just ordered from sourdough for my very time time and CANNOT BELIEVE the horribly rude customer service I received when I called about our order having some problems. I never asked for anything yet was told the owner "made it himself" so he didn't believe my "story" is what he said to me. My MIL has ordered from there almost once a week for years and raved about it so long we decided to try it tonight while she's here visiting. It was her who asked me to call because her spaghetti had maybe 1/4 of a cup of sauce on it and was so dry the noodles weren't even pink. The 1st time i called was to ask if that was normal and the manager(girl who never named herself) told me that most people who order cheese on top of spaghetti get extra sauce so I said ok we would remember that for next time. Then my husband and I both open our sandwiches and I ordered extra cheese on my Philly cheese steak and cheese on his meatball sandwich. There was NO cheese on his and so little on mine it couldn't have been more than a teaspoon of it. I called back and the manager gave the phone to the owner. Im guessing so he could tell me it was MY fault LOL. He even asked me "Do you know who made that sandwich? It was me and im the owner so now im really doubting your"story"" I have worked in the food industry for 17 yrs and never once have I encountered ANY owner or manager who would rather CONFRONT their paying customers than OFFER a solution. I would have happily brought back the food and had it remade but instead he wanted to blame ME and act like I was lying. You need to take some customer service classes!!!! You are ridiculously horrible and based on your shitty reviews I read before making my own you will be out if business very soon. The manager told me There were some new guys in the kitchen tonight BUT the guy who's been there the longest made our food so sorry. What?? Lol don't even offer for us to come back and pick up a cup of extra sauce or let me remake that for you? What in the world is wrong with you guys??? They must be TRYING to lose all their business.
