In all honesty, our primary objective was finding a bathroom before driving to Como. Esselunga…read moreprovided that - plus an insane selection of food and wine, so much so that we left with no less than three full bags.
For drinks, a little browsing revealed €3,50 bottles of Lambrusco and Prosecco that we simply couldn't pass up. Whatever we pickled (I basically closed my eyes) was amazing and lasted two of the three days of our time in Como.
And while we were at it...we figured we would also pick up meat, cheese, bread, crackers, and waters for the drive, and also see what else they had.
Though we did not get any, the meat and produce looked and smelled amazing. There was so much bread to choose from (beyond the baguette we bought and tore into as soon as we got in the car,) and the biggest boxes Barilla pasta I've ever seen (measured in kilograms) were only €1,50. The whole pasta aisle was at least four or five times larger than anything I've ever seen at home.
