Over the weekend I was here picking up some food. It was not ready yet so I got a drink and waited at the bar. Terrible customer service as multiple employees came up to me asking what I was doing there and kicked me outside in the snow so they could sit other customers. Sosoba is such a good, local spot I've been going to for years! It's somewhat small inside but even when it's busy it doesn't feel chaotic. We've always had great service and enjoyed our time here. My husband and my friends only ever get the mic drop ramen; I've had it too and it's delicious. I've also had the tantanman ramen and bao buns. Flagstaff is my "go to" when I need to cool off and get away from the craziness of Vegas. And Sosoba is my "go to" when I want to fuel up on Ramen that's gluten free and delicious! My daughter, our foreign exchange student from Japan and I popped in for dinner after a day of hiking in the Grand Canyon. It was also our last night in Flagstaff and our last dinner out after a 2 week road trip. We visited Sosoba approximately one year ago and both the service and the food were excellent. The service staff were professional, charming and friendly. We had the gluten-free Ramen with Soba noodles, the Mic drop ramen and the Pork Tonkatsu Ramen. My 16 year old daughter likes the music here and loves the vibe. Our exchange student also gave her stamp of approval. Hopefully it's not another year for our next visit. read more

Was in Flagstaff with family. Wife and I were craving for Ramen. Found this place online with good reviews. Parking was a little tricky (in the train station parking lot opposite to the market) but the vibe of the restaurant was great with small town feel. As a hardcore ramen and noodles lover (at-least I think so!), this place satisfied my taste buds. Wife's (green?) curry based ramen was great as well. The server was awesome and had great knowledge about the menu. She was super patient while we asked thousand questions about the menu. Only negative thing about the experience was oil on the buns in fried chicken buns. Looks like they were pan fried which was very new to me at-least. Other than that, great food and experience. Great Service, crowded at times. It was a Sunday night when we went and parking is free on the streets which in Flagstaff you need to pay every time you park down town next to route 66. There was only a 45mins waiting list for us, but we got texted in 30mins. Staff are attentive and helpful, but be careful with their floors as it a little slippery. Ramen prices and their other choices are priced decent. Nothing special with their ramen, I had better, but in this small city, it's worth it. Must try and decide for yourself. For me it's ok. We ordered tantamen, katsu, and Mike drop. They have different broths and ingredients. I like the Mike drop as it's a tonkatsu. Great that they close 12am. Well recommended. read more

This is a sweet ramen shop! Their menu variety is impressive. We ordered the Mic Drop and Tantanmen ramens, one traditional and one experimental. Both were delicious, with excellent ingredients that were clearly made with love. The Mic Drop particularly is a meat lovers dream, with ham and bacon and pork belly and chicharon, in udon noodles and broth. Ask for the chili garlic and Sriracha to add spice! I highly recommend ordering the Sweet Chile Calamari. It's served as a salad with delicious leafy greens, radishes, and carrots. The pairing works great and is full of flavor. They didn't bring the second one and said "oh don't know what happened there but we will start on that now." And we decided to pack up and just leave. I had the Calamari, Crispy Cauliflower and they were both tremendous, the Cauliflower wasn't actually crispy, because they didn't use a batter (thankfully for my diabetes). Wow. Just really f*cking good. I've stopped a few times late night after hanging out at brew pubs nearby. Good service. Great ambience. Reminiscent of hanging out in Koreatown in NYC. I've had udon, ramen, Gyoza, salads, and other dishes. All were great. Tonight was the "Mic Drop" - a delicious bowl of udon noodles, pork belly, kimchi, carnitas, ham fries, bacon and chicharron, soft-boiled egg, scallion and katsuobushi. My family and I just went here and we were very excited to try this place, as we've heard really great things. Unfortunately as the female line cook with blue hair started to prepare our food, she took a break to sweep the floor and emptied the trash into a receptacle. She did NOT change her gloves between touching the bottom of the trash collector and preparing the rest of our meal. We were sitting at the bar staring directly into the kitchen, which is how we saw this. We sent out our food back and left hungry. Very mediocre ramen. I think this place is a chain. The noodles are bland and have a grainy texture, not the chewy goodness you expect from ramen noodles. I got the tantamen and the broth was incredibly salty, to the point where it kind of burned my mouth (not from heat but from too much salt). I definitely didn't drink the broth like I usually do, but I could taste that it did have a good base, but it was covered up with too much salt. They only gave half an egg and it was really cold and flavorless. It seems like they boil their eggs in plain water rather than soy sauce or tea to give them flavor and a little color. I really liked the braised bak choy. That was the star of my bowl. I was incredibly hungry, so I ate all of my noodles and veggies and left the broth behind. The service was ok. The place wasn't that full, and there were 2 servers , but the service was quite slow. There were man my times where both were nowhere to be found. The ambiance was actually pretty nice. We sat on the bar side of the two room restaurant. It's a small space but clean and cozy with windows facing into the plaza. It was cold so we wanted something warm and cozy, and found Sosoba. I believe there's only street parking, which was all occupied near the restaurant. We drove around the block and found something not too far away. Sosoba has daily happy hour from 5-6pm, and we got there a little after 5:30pm, but it was very busy and they estimated a 30 min wait. We got added to the wait-list and decided to walk around nearby since there wasn't a waiting area inside the restaurant. After about 15 min, we got the notification that our table was ready! We got seated at the bar and the bartender let us know there was just a few min left to place a happy hour order. We really appreciated that as most of the happy hour deals were 50% off! We all got the Mic Drop, which has udon noodles, pork belly, bacon, carnitas, pork rind, egg, and kimchi. It was nice that it had so many varieties of meat that added enough flavor without making it too salty. The udon noodles were perfectly cooked - just the right amount of chewy. The happy hour is so worth it, just make sure you get there earlier in case there's a wait so you don't miss it. I got udon and a mai tai, and after tax and tip, the total was still under $20! Love coming here! My second time here and order the same thing I usually get - the gyoza ramen but with udon noddles. My friends and I came here during happy hour (5-6 p.m) when they have some dishes half off. We also tried the fried Mac and Cheese ball. Very churchy outside but nice and soft inside. The service was good but a little slow, understanding we came in peak hour. The place a bit small but it's nice especially during the night time. Low lighting and different tables to choose from and has an option of eating outside. Will return here when I return to flagstaff. For sure worth the try if you're around the area. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Flag and I always drag my boyfriend here when it's my turn to pick dinner. I don't need a menu. White Peach Lemonade and a Mic Drop for me. They freshly squeeze the lemonade to order, the Mic Drop has about 6 different types of pork in it and the udon noodles (highly recommend) are chewy and delicious. It is expensive, but I always find it to be worth what you pay. The servers are all kind and fun, and I think they've had the same ones for a while now. Low turnover is a good sign. :) read more
