I actually have a Northgate market really close to my pad. But, if I want really good meat, at the best prices, to impress some of my guests, La Bodega market's meat can please even my most finicky guests. What I really love about La Bodega Market is that their prices are really cheap for the quality that you're getting. They sell Carne Asada marinated with their special recipe for 2.50 a pound. I would really like to know all the ingredients that they use for their marinade, for I have only seen several of the ones they use while preparing my order. They have a special spice bottle,and a special bottle of some liquid that they pour into the bag of meat that you're taking home. If you want Chicken Breasts ready to slap on the grill they will cost you only about 2 dollars a pound. And, you get their secret house marinade. Believe me, After eating their meat you will be licking your fingers after wards like KFC, GUARANTEED. La Bodega also has almost everything a Hispanic Market would carry. Queso, Chips, Mexican Beer, Salsas, tortillas, & produce. The only draw back to La Bodega Market is that they are at the 2nd to last U.S. exit in San Ysidro right before the border. I came here once to shop after receiving the ad in the mail. I took the ad with me to shop, but when I got to pay at the self checkout, the prices didn't match the ad. I spoke to the attendant and they called for a manager. Some you g Mexican guy came in a white shirt and looked at the ad. He said he was going to check the price for a product and took my ad. He never came back. These ads are a scam and the ad prices don't match the ones in the supermarket.

They forced customers to either buy the high reusable bags or put the groceries in the car one by one. Walmart would take hit. Spoke to a lead and she didn't care. She said in her 8 years of being with the company they have never experienced a shortage of bags. This store has not been open for 8 years. When I asked for the person who orders the plastic bags she said they were out for the day. Same as the store general manager. She then proceeded to go to the meat department to get plastic bags for meat for people to put their groceries in. Bottom line here: they will throw the cost onto the customer instead of offering what is in stock at the lower price. There is no customer service here. I will not shop here again. I hope they get shut down and replaced with a better grocery store that cares for their customers. I seen so many customers will full carts putting items one by one in their car.

We were looking for an ATM machine to withdraw pesos and shop for food. The items are reasonably priced, with the exchange rate around 20 pesos to a dollar. There were rows of salsas and tortilla chips next to the juicing bar where we picked up a container of salsa made from a molcajete cucharon (stone mortar and pestle). It was perfectly delicious with our makeshift flour tortilla burritos and tortilla chips! They have assortments of breads- bodillo, telera, boliqueso, and even baguete (bagettes). Pick up a galleta (cookie) or cocada from their bakery! We puchased a combination of sweet breads and savory plain breads. Love the produce here. We were deliberate to make a fruit salad and gathered papayas, grapes, and cactus pairs. With their hard seeds and luscious red fruit meat, you can't easily find cactus pairs in the states but you can find it here at Calimax! A nice offering of produce and conveniently located in Tijuana, this Calimax is worth stopping by for your next trip south of the border!
