A fabulous festival in the outskirts of Munich. I call it a mini Oktoberfest without the huge…read morecrowds :-) I must admit I really enjoyed the atmosphere, Festbier and the food was excellent. It was a rainy day and we decided to drop in and check it out. I only heard about this recently from friends and, going on a not so busy day, was a great idea. We parked about 50m from the festival and it cost €2.80 for 4 hours :-)) There are a number of rides, game stalls for kids and adults. Lots of small food places selling the usual festival fare commonly seen throughout Bavaria like candied nuts, chocolate coated fruits, Brezen, sausages and so on. There are also three or four beer tents with a capacity of not more than a few hundred people and one big one with the Bavarian band and so on. They also had a couple of cocktail bars around just to make it a bit more interesting. We ended up in the big tent and they served a darker festbier which was really nice. The food here was also excellent and service quick. We had taken friends that had arrived from Australia here and they loved it too. I specially loved the Schwineshaxe....tender meat and crispy cracking...yummmm :-) I would happily come back here next year. The festival runs for about 2 weeks during this time of year.

Eine absolute Frechheit. Fressalien für 50€ für uns Vier gekauft, der Deal von Eately für 14.90€ unterirdisch, kleine Chipstüte, kleinste Packung Oliven und ein überflüssiges Süßgebäck. Toiletten ohne Seife und Handtücher... Nicht besuchen!

Es gibt ne Wiese, Biertische und so Holzsessel die ok sind wenn man eine Decke draufmacht:-) Toiletten sind vorhanden sind ok und sauber. Auf der deren Homepage stand was von wechselnden Gerichten mit Salaten usw. wir dachten uns ok man kann auch dort essen Haha ich fragte den Verkäufer was denn aus den Gerichten im Prospekt oder online geworden ist? Er meinte dies wären nur so Ideen. Ja das sah man ich hatte die Auswahl zwischen einer "gewürzten Wurst mit Kartoffelssalat, einer gewürzten Wurst in der Semmel und einer gewürzten Wurst mit Couscous. Klar es gab noch ein Nudelgericht und Nachos und Popcorn. Das war die Auswahl, ich dachte mir nur he von Nudeln werd ich bei meinem Hunger net satt, also hab ich ne Wurst bestellt, hätte ich gewußt was auf mich zukommt hätte ich die Nachos genommen! Da kann man ja nichts falsch machen oder??? Die Wurst war tod, aber so zu Tode gekokelt das sogar die am Nebentisch ihre Portionen bemängelt hatten. Tipp: Wenn dann selber Essen mitbringen denn das Essen ist mehr als schlecht, mir fällt kein Wort dafür ein um es zu beschreiben 2.Lasst auch eure leeren Plastikflaschen zu Hause, da selbst diese konfisziert werden. Was der Sinn von einer leeren Plastikflasche sein soll, ist ne andere 3.Und schauts zu das an dem Tag kein Konzert im Park stattfindet sonst kann man neben dem Film auch ein andauerndes Gepumber hören 4.Zuletzt an die Damenwelt, mindestens ne Decke und Söckchen einpacken:-)

Munich has many Christmas markets and this happens to be one of them. It's small and located next…read moreto the U Bahn station and usually quite packed in the evenings. It's mostly about food and drink here. There are a number of small shops selling gifts and other things from local artisans. Each of the stalls has a sign on the front saying where they are from which is great. Christmas decoration, jewelry, pottery, paintings, metal work, winter hats, accessories and so form the major line up of shops. The rest is all about food and wine. A number of Glühwein tents offering food. The food variety here is actually quite ok. Everything from sausages to steak sandwiches and local items like Reiberdatschi, Flammkuchen and so on. I have been here a few times as its convenient. Please note that it gets packed in the evening and sometimes hard to navigate as its quite a small market. A nice addition to the neighborhood every year.

We live not far from Olympic Park but managed not to get here for a visit, until today. Have walked…read moreby it a few times and looked good from above and we decided to descend into the festival valley to check it out. It's a fabulous festival with loads of beer tents, food shops, stages for gigs and all sorts of shops selling jewelery, packaged food products, musical instruments and so on. On a nice day this place is busy as it was tonight. Loads of great bands and acts come here to entertain audiences and there are also a lot of free concerts and acts on . In terms of food choice there is plenty and you could spend a whole evening just eating and drinking your way through the place. There are also a number of cocktail bars and coffee shops. Spent a bit of time in the Delhi tent and it was extremely lively and loads of people dancing and having a good time. This was also my favourite as it was colorful and lively with loads of dancing and Punjabi music. I had some Rosemary potatoes, onion pakoras, Lahmucan and frozen yogurt and the quality was quite good. I just wanted do keep ploughing through the food tents one by one. It all looked great. Many of the food stalls had huge queues so be patient. Munich does festivals brilliantly and this is no exceptions. This is certainly an annual event we will happily come back to.

Despite the special bus, it is not so simple to get there with the public transport, given that most people will need at least 2 connections and the special bus, which is always really full. But, once you get there, this really does not matter. :D There is really a lot to do there: eat great food from around the world, drink glamorous cocktails, shop quality fair-trade products for you and for your house, go to a music concert, and even dance at the Tanzbar. Since I am crazy about Indian food, I went straight to the Tandoori booth. There you can order a Thali, Choras, Chicken Curry, etc. together with a delicious Naan bread made in the tandoori oven on site. Naan made in the tandoori oven is way much better than the ones made in a frying pan. A must is the fresh coconut which you can drink the water and afterwards eat the pulp. And there is even a Schwäbischer burger a.k.a. Maultaschen burger. I have to try it! Yesterday at the Tanzbar there was even a Brazilian Forró show where everyone could join, listen to the music, and dance Forró, a typical Brazilian couples dance. Wow! A lot to eat, a lot to shop, a lot of people to meet, a lot to do... Tollwood once again, why not?!

Yesterday has been the third time attending the eat and style in Munich and sadly it is getting a…read morebit less attractive. yes, some really nice and sometimes even innovative food products, stands and drinks - but in general it is turning a bit into the same old same old. tons of wineries, tons of cheese and salami places from Italy. And the food truck court is just sad. Though we really enjoyed the gourmet hot dogs from the guys of Isar dogs, the rest... sigh... well, there is always hope that next year the people get their act together and turn it into a great place again. Third year eating & styling! Love the event - on of my favorite conventions. As always we did the…read morechocolate and wine pairing at the Weininstitut, which was awesome. A bit heavy on the sweet wines, but always interesting to see how the chocolate balances it out. Solid food truck scene, with the RIBWICH being my favorite! Seems to be a LOT more vegan/veggie friendly stuff this year, great for those green inclined. (Not myself, but I appreciate the diversity). The new lounge by the food trucks was most welcome, with the cool beach chairs, music and beer stands. Finally no more squatting outside to eat your food truck goodies! Inside the big hall was a nice variety of goods, lots of tastings and some more food options. We managed to keep our wine buzz going all afternoon - even though it involved being flirted with by a few creepy old French guys. Going home in our bag were instant oatmeal, lots of jerky, gin, wine, raisins, chocolate, bacon jelly, fish paste and cookies... just to name a few. My only complaint - not finding a champagne vinegar... but that's just like shopping. You can't go with something in mind or your'll never find it. Either way - highly recommended, we'll be at next year's event for sure!
