Walk in and an employee immediately took my order to go order, food I ordered was delivered with my add on requests included. Whole thing took 5 minutes or less. The food was fresh and hot. Not many customers but a few eat ins and at the drive-up. Obviously the employees listed with the issues earlier were corrected or replaced. Worth a retry.

Wow. Where to begin. Well let's start with how most restraunt experiences begin: walking through…read morethe door and going up to order. This wouldn't be too big of a deal, except not once in the dozen times I've eaten here have I ever seen anyone at the register when I walk in. I've always had to wait at least a minimum of 5 minutes before ordering -- not because of any line, but because nobody is there to take my order. Not the staff's fault -- but rather just a major issue of being understaffed. The food is very subpar. The only half decent thing is the blizzard. Everything else tastes like rubber. And whenever you order you have to go up and get the food from behind the counter because there's nobody there to bring it to you. My all time worst experience there was when my friends and I asked for the tv channel to be changed so we could watch USA play in the final minutes of the U19 World Cup Final, only for the worker there to tell us that she wanted to see the NBA final, and proceeded to change the channel to the pregame (one hour before) of Game 2. Ridiculous. Management is very clearly the problem here.

My buddy opted for the Spicy Smash. The burgers were mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmm great, Juicy and the bun held up. Fries were fresh and would like to see maybe a topping or poutine option for them. Cool spot to get some AC and great burger before a Smokies game or a night in the old City.

SmashCity wasn't far off of the interstate, it had good ratings and although we'd been eating burgers and fries quite a bit on this roadtrip, a good burger and fries really sounded good. All of the reviews were right on - this was absolutely NOT fast food - it was fast, really fast, but the speed was just bonus. As we usually do, we split. We chose the Carolina BBQ smash. The burgers were juicy - if you're not careful, I guarantee you'll be wearing it. Two critiques, it definitely needed more sauce - I just added some of the SmashCity sauce from our fries and it worked but I really would have liked to have had more BBQ sauce. Second, the fried onions were quite burned. I pulled off most of them. The hand cut fries were piping hot, just the right amount of greasy and seasoned perfectly. Splitting the burger was a good call - I'd never have eaten the whole thing myself. The burger and fries were just over $20. When you consider a Big Mac meal at that clown place is $14, SmashCity is almost a bargain. Paul, the owner was like the energizer bunny - he was everywhere at once. Personality oozed from his pores. Make sure you tell him Sue said hi! (He won't remember me but just say hi anyway!) Now I wouldn't say SmashCity has the best burgers - that award goes to our friend Jerry. He makes a pretty mean smash burger on the blackstone. If you have an extra half hour, skip the fast food burger joints, get off that highway, and go let Paul fill your belly for the rest of your trip! You'll appreciate it!
