Dealer never filed and I've been hounding them since January 2026 to file the form with the IRS for me (its one simple form) and total crickets / runaround. Don't do business with any Sonic Dealership! They don't take care of their customers, including their customers personal information. They pulled my credit without my authorization, using information from an old transaction! At the time of this review, Sonic Automotive owns about 100 stores around the U.S. One of these dealerships is Mercedes Benz of Walnut Creek. We bought a new car there, and subsequently were shopping for a used car. While shopping for the used car, which we were paying cash for, the dealership ran our credit report - hard pulls - on all three bureaus, without permission. They used our personal information from our previous purchase from them, without our consent. Most importantly, the general manager of the store was completely unprofessional and rude. I ultimately reached out to Sonic's "customer service" manager. She did nothing. The general manager is still running the dealership and generating negative customer experiences for others, and Sonic is still forcing me to deal with their unauthorized pulls on my credit bureau on my own. They refuse to accept responsibility, refuse to fix it. At one point the dealership offered to give me a $1,000 credit on a car, but I'd have to remove my reviews and social media statements (in violation of yelp terms of use), and most importantly, they actually wouldn't make it right. They refuse to make any effort whatsoever to get the unauthorized pulls of my credit report removed from the bureaus. read more

I would not do business with a Sonic Automotive dealership in the future. When I called with a complaint about one of the dealer add-ons that they pitch to you at the time you buy the car, the first thing out of the sales manager's mouth was "well, sorry there's no refunds on those purchases." He said that without even asking or trying to understand what the issue was. For me, regardless of the issue, or who may be right or wrong, as a dealership and as a salesman, you approach the issue first from a "customer is always right" perspective, and do everything you can to maintain that relationship. I had the worst car buying experience of my life at Town and Country Toyota, A Sonic Automotive Company in Charlotte, NC. The actual purchase went well, UNTIL my temporary tag was within 2 days of expiration. The Salesman said the tag was being worked on and I would have by end of week. No tag-no response from dealership. I did get an email address for the Sonic Titles folks. They issued a ticket and afterward nothing! I went to the DMV- they issued a temporary tag -nothing had been started with the state. I did get my tag within 1 day of the extended tag expiration. Would have gone a long way to have ANYONE let me now what was going on. read more

Warranty Cancellation Issues - Customer service is horrible I provided all supporting documentation, including payoff letter from Suntrust. After endless emails I contacted customer services directly. After receiving multiple voicemails I was informed that the refund would be issued and sent directly to me. After two weeks I still did not receive a refund. I reached back out to customer service and received a voicemail back stating the refund checks were sent directly to SunTrust. After two addition weeks, I reached out to SunTrust and they informed me the checks were returned to sender due to the account being paid off in full and no way to receive. On 4/20/20 I purchased a new 2020 BMW X3 M40i from BMW of Denver Downtown; owned by Sonic Automotive. And while I love the vehicle, this is a not a review of the product I purchased, but of the ineptitude of the dealership and business group. 2 months after the purchase, I was still unable to register the vehicle. After bringing this to the attention of the dealership, a phone call to the Denver Police Department, and back to the dealership, it turns out that the dealership themselves had reported my vehicle as stolen back in January of 2020. Shock and awe quickly turned to concern and horror that I had been driving a vehicle that was reported stolen for 2 months; unbeknownst to me of course. The ramifications had I been pulled over during that time were, as you can imagine, severe: jail, arrest, and a litany of legal issues would have ensued. After realizing this, my husband and I contact the dealership (no, they did not contact us first) and asked that they take the vehicle back; I do not feel safe driving it and would prefer to no longer be associated with this company. It is also important to note that on the day my vehicle was purchased, my husband also purchased a brand new BMW. This was my 3rd BMW and my husband's 2nd...repeat customers, and a 2 for 1 deal for the dealership! You would think that the dealership and Sonic would want to keep our business, apologize for the egregious issue, and try and make this right. Of course, I wouldn't be writing this if that were the case. Instead of doing the above they called me a liar, a money seeker, and a bunch of other rude and petulant behavior followed. After getting nowhere with the local dealership, I reach out to Sonic. The local dealership's GM never even called to apologize! But I digress, this isn't about the horrific behavior of BMW of Denver Downtown, but of the systemic and callous behavior of the owners, Sonic Automotive Group. After a month of back and forth with Ashley in customer relations, and me continually asking to speak to someone higher up, I finally speak to the "RVP" Chip. He's a piece of work. But, Chip is a tired man, whose being beat down from the executive team to always say no, and never take a customer's word for it, and do everything but apologize and make it right. Chip says that no, they will not take the car back because they didn't do anything wrong. Now, as the customer who was implicated into driving a stolen vehicle for 2 months, I kindly disagree with that assessment. But, you see, they don't care about the customer. They don't care about their safety, security and peace of mind. Remember how I said that BMW of Denver claimed I was "just after money", well it turns out that Sonic is the one that is actually, of course, just after money. BMW and Sonic would "lose out on money" by taking the car back, which is of course the right thing to do, but they don't care about what's right. They only care about taking their cold, lifeless hands and stealing money and the well-being from their clients, scuttling away and never giving an ounce of concern, customer service, or a luxury experience to their customers. So, now I'm stuck, with a car that was reported stolen, by the dealership. A car which I harbored for over 2 months at my home, while still claimed stolen. A car I drove for 2 months, while still claimed a stolen. No apology, no empathy, just cold, callous, robotic responses from the entire staff and team at Sonic Automotive. Why is it so hard to take the car back? Money! What could they have done initially? Given me a different vehicle to drive, an apology...like a real apology. The one you give when you accidentally step on your dog's tail kind of apology. But, alas, that is not the Sonic Way. The Sonic way is deflect, dismiss and disregard. So, I encourage anyone and everyone to avoid dealing with this company. They are, without a doubt, unequivocally, and with 100% certainty, the worst company. Worse than Time Warner Cable! I'm so disappointed with such upscale dealership. You would think that by it being a Mercedes dealership it would provide awesome customer service. (Not) I been giving nothing but excuses and the run around. First off I stay in MS; in which, they stated the could delivery. That never happened. I have to drive and get the vehicle. Next was they were supposed to refunded me the delivery charges. I just received the check on 10/31/20. Vehicle was purchased on 9/29/20. I yet still havent received any paperwork or nothing. I cant even drive the vehicle because I dont have the plates because the dealership still havent sent the paperwork to MS. The buyer's copy paper is not valid in MS. Meaning I have a vehicle in which I cant drive without being ticket. I'm was treated like I was just a piece of paper and not a customer. I will never in this life go back through this with no dealership. I dont care how much I want a vehicle. The way this place operates is an embarrassment to Mercedes. Thanks for making my online experience in purchasing a vehicle a disaster. I wouldn't reccomend this place to no one.. I have reach out to so many people to point where I dont even want the vehicle anymore. It's just hurtful as customer that things can be done to buyer and nothing can be done about it.
