I called these folks to compare their bid to our regular plumber, and they said they could come the next day between 2-5:pm. They never called to say that their technician wasn't going to make it within the time frame stated, so I called them at 5:15 pm. The call center person said their tech was running behind, but he could arrive as late as 10:pm that night. I told her that my mother is getting dementia and having a tech in the house after 7:pm would be too confusing and disruptive to her schedule. The call center person assured me that the tech will be on his way and that she would call ahead to inform us. At 6:45, I called the center/office to cancel and to reschedule for the next day, and I got the same time frame scheduled for another appointment. A technician finally showed up at 5:15 pm and gave me quote of $530.00. I was shocked to say the least, because it is a $30.00 part. I asked the tech why this job would be so expensive and he said it was because they had to shut off the water and cut the copper water lines, and solder on a new shut off valve. I thanked him and ushered him out the door. Luckily, our regular plumber was available the next day and he called to give me an ETA, and he showed up on time. He looked over the job and quoted me $175.00. He had the job done in 30 minutes and just replaced the front half of the shut off valve, and didn't have to cut or solder any piping. We must beware of these larger companies that have way too much overhead, drive around in a fleet of fancy, brightly colored trucks, give poor customer service, and apparently are too big to fail. read more

I had an installation of a new boiler replacing an old system I had. Jeff the sales person was professional and respectful of my needs and since the old boiler died on me, made certain the installation was started within a couple of days. The installation group were professional, and Dan, Victor and two other, sorry I do not recall their names, were installing the system as if they were doing it for their own home. Taking pride in their work, and assuring that everything done was correct and proper. I must admit Dan's plumbing work could be observed as professional and you can see in him the pride he had on doing it right! The complete installation team took pride and were professional. My contact person Ashley at the company was professional and the correspondent by email were prompt. A couple of weeks after they were required to return for a minor adjustment to the boiler but nothing to worry about. Again professional and respectful. We have been using Solvit for years and have always have a great experience each time they visit our home. Their customer service is excellent and technicians are knowledgable, friendly and overall great to work with. We recently purchased a new home, so we signed up for their home protection plan again and Massimo came yesterday to check out the HVAC system. He explained everything he was checking to me - even highlighting things that I wasn't even aware we had in the new house and did an excellent job. There wasn't a need for any repairs because our system is almost new, but he changed the filters, cleaned the unit, tightened a few wires and made me feel comfortable that we were going to make it through the winter with no heating issues. We have a plumbing and electrician tech coming today to check our systems, which is a free service part of the home protection plan. We would highly recommend Solvit as a company and their services. He went through the entire home checking all pipes, even the hot water heater and the furnace to makes sure that there was no additional damages to the home. Solvit worked up a quote and even worked with the mortgage company on getting the paper work to them with all the items the mortgage company requested. They couldn't have made it easier. When we closed and had the work the done, they were there for 2 days. The plumber and his helper where great, they cleaned up every day after they were done. The work was great, they even helped with the hot water heater issues. I couldn't have found a better place!! Excellent Service - they came within the window and had easily knew what the issue was and how to fix it They were very professional and easy going, explained everything that was going on so I was able to understand although I am a very techinical guy - someone would be able to understand the issue and their fix for it. They even did such a good job and cleaned up the cables better than my service contract with my oil provider did It was such a mess and they made it so neat and clean and got everything working in more than enough time. The price was high but it seemed reasonable as it was just for the part and the labor was reasonable because they knew what they were doing Would definitely recommend their home contract as it covers a variety of systems. Hopefully I can get Massimo again when I need more service done. read more

SolvIt dispatched Joe D an electrician to my home the next day for a full electrical inspection. What prompted me to call was a surge which fried my low wattage nightlights. Joe's inspection was through and advised me of other upgrades to meet housing code. He was professional, courteous and mindful to wear protective slipons when entering my home. I would recommend having their yearly maintenance contract, which includes several other inspections, 10% discount on parts and repair. Our plumber/tech was Lukas W. who was extremely professional, patient and helpful. He did our water treatment system routine maintenance, and then discussed a leak and malfunction of our well water tank which was 15 years old. He took the time to fully explain the risks of not replacing this part of the system, so we decided to do it. He did all the work, staying an extra 90 minutes to do the extra work and answered many extra questions on the logistics of the system and how it all works. The entire process was well coordinated by the office -- they advised that maintenance was due and set up schedule. A call was made 15 minutes ahead of the visit to ensure we were ready. Ron Jiang came to service my 30 year gas furnace. Never heard of this place and saw had great reviews. My furnace had issues which I knew for years and years. Matthew Beard was able to diagnose a serious heating problem during our winter cold spell very quickly. Even though parts needed to be ordered, he was able to show me how to manually operate the heating system until the parts could be installed. Two days later he was back to install the new parts. He was pleased to tell me the final costs would be $600.00 less than what he initially anticipated, because he was able to determine that the entire component did not need replacing after all. I have been a customer with Solvit for 5 years now, they always give me excellent service from the girls in the office who are always great to speak with to the knowledgeable techs. It was quite hot in the attic and both Karl and Rachel spent a few hours spraying foam insulation and plugging air leaks. Karl explained the process before starting and also took time to explain the results of all the energy tests. Unfortunately, SolvIt did not have a proper equipment to test the type of furnace system we have so the test results came negative. Had a heating inspection carried out today from a young man named Omar. He was in and out in under an hour after checking everything and doing some cleaning of the heating tubes. He even drained some sediment from the hot water heater--I don't remember other service agents doing that, but maybe I missed it. Anyway, he was prompt, knowledgeable, answered a few questions, and was gone. Incidentally, we do have a service contract and this inspection was part of it. Good insurance. read more
