They removed and reset my solar array across two roofs with three sections and replaced all the wiring connectors to keep everything within warranty compliance. Sorry coal lovers, but we've been powered by rooftop solar for about three months now, and so far I'm delighted with the whole experience. I got hooked up with Solar Energy Solutions through the city's Solar Over Louisville campaign, which was critical to my signing up in the first place. The city's Sustainability Council vetted contractors for the program and seminars offered a soft sales pitch. I had about a million different questions going in, and I wouldn't relish the additional concerns that come with choosing a contractor on top of everything else. We aren't the perfect solar customer -- our roof is closer to okay than great, and we still heat using natural gas, so our marginal benefit for adding solar wasn't clear from the beginning. But the 30% federal rebate helped a lot, and improved technologies with lengthy warranties also tipped the balance. The whole process took about three months. They were quick to share an individualized assessment of my roof and my energy bill, with estimated savings extrapolated over time. Communication was sporadic, and we waited a couple of months to get the panels installed, but I know they were juggling a lot of projects here in the city this summer. They worked out all the communication with LG&E to set up the permits and the contracts and the net metering. No, we're not off the grid. They can do that sort of thing, but energy storage is still expensive, and that wasn't the point for us. So far the impact on my monthly bill has been about what they advertised. The setup isn't going to be a huge moneymaker for us, but the panels will definitely be paying for themselves over the next decade. read more

We worked with Mr. Syl and had 22 solar panels installed on our home in Mt. Adams. Our energy cost/bill has went down from a little over $400 a month to about $60....although they estimated we would pay off the panels in 8 years, at this rate it will only be about 3 1/2 years. I checked/received estimates from 3 different solar company's and although they were not the cheapest ( they were the middle range of the 3 companies ) I would Absolutely only work with Solar Energy Solutions in the future per their Excellent service and A+ work. I live in the Louisville area and have just had Solar Energy Solutions install a Solar Thermal (Hot Water) system on my 1906 house comprised of a roof mounted 4' x 8' panel and a basement 80 gal storage tank with electric backup. All the steps in the process went smoothly, they kept me informed and consulted as needed and even did a great job leaving the job site spotless. Most importantly within 1 day we are producing free (very) hot water! This is the second system I have had SES install in the past 6 years and I continue to be highly impressed with their honesty, un-pressured approach to selling which looks at the system that is right for you vs. the most expensive, attention to detail and quality and the training and friendliness of the staff. I went with these guys not only because of prior experience but also due to their strong reputation around the state and national certification of the installers vs. having a plumber or electrician who does this as an occasional side job.
