I used to hate going to any public market in the Philippines because it's just a whole kind of mess and it's dirty and smells all kinds of "nope."
But I happen to be in Solano (I made a run at the SM Savemore) and had to make a stop at the nearby public market because Savemore didn't have what I needed.
I dreaded it at first, but was pleasantly surprised to find the market is pretty clean! What!?!?
Everything is sectioned: meat and fish upstairs, veggies and fruit downstairs, clothing and shoes in another area, rice and feeds somewhere else, etc. It was so easy to find everything I needed. Also most vendors already priced their items, so there's no up-charging going on here. (But bring a local with you anyway, just in case...)
They do have market days and that's when it gets really crazy busy. Avoid if possible. Parking becomes a challenge during those days.
But this visit has changed my outlook on pubic markets now. I sure hope to explore it more on my next run. read more
