Literally just came back from Chacewater! What a cute, welcoming, and intimate tasting room. We did…read morea wine and olive oil tasting--wine tastings are $10 per person for 7 tastes, at 4 - 5 oz pours per wine. Amber guided our tasting, and she was super sweet and friendly! She let us each take our own pace through the tasting, and we all shared tasting notes/favourite aspects of the wine throughout the tasting. She gave us each chocolates, as well as ice cream drizzled with muscat-infused olive oil toward the end of the tasting--much appreciated and well-paired! I especially enjoyed the '21 Sauv Blanc and the '20 Orange Muscat dessert wine! They also make olive oil soaps and bath products from their olive oil harvests. I got the Rosemary Lemon soap, and the Seaweed soap (which smells like verbena and saltwater in the best way). Highly recommend stopping here if you're in the area! Thank you Amber! :)

The closest was Chancewater and it is also open 7 days a week as opposed to most places in the area that are only open during the weekend. There is plenty of parking and you walk into a bar area that is set up for tastings. But we decided to sit in the larger tasting area that has their wines, barrels etc. They also sell seasonal vegetables at the bar which is a nice touch. They offer olive oil tasting but I didn't want to mix wine and oil so we didn't try the olive oil but I will definitely go back for that. They had many olive oil products for sale - soap, lotions etc. We were greeted by 2 hostesses who offered us a choice to sit at the bar or the tasting room and we choose the tasting room, it had a better ambience. We went on a Tuesday late afternoon, just before they closed at 5pm and we had the place to ourselves. The tasting room has room for at least 50 people without it feeling crowded. You get a choice of 7 tastings for $15 and you can pick what you would like to taste and we picked all whites. We had the 3 white and rose, 2 reserve whites (chardonnay and Sav Blanc) and 2 sweet wines. I am not a fan of Sav Blanc or sweet wines but the ones we tasted were very good. Their chardonnay was well worth the trip by itself. The hostess was friendly and knowledgeable and very engaging. I took one star off for the pours, they were very minimal but delicious. I would highly recommend the place and look forward to the olive oil tasting as well next time!

We camped during the week and naturally there were very few tasting rooms open. When we were tasting at Mt. Konocti Winery, the awesome ladies there called the owner of Rosa d'Ora to see if he was open and/or willing to let us come by and taste his wines. He immediately told us to come around - what great customer service. We drove over to Rosa d'Ora, this place is about 14 acres of grape and some olive trees. There is plenty of parking and it is a rustic place but charming. The place is not easy to find, the map tended to take me somewhere else but once you take the exit, it is right as you turn off the freeway. The owner came out to meet us and took us, not into the main tasting room, but into his office where he poured us whatever he had open. Since my friend and I are both are not red wine drinkers, we tasted a couple of sparkling wines and 2 chardonnay's. The second chardonnay was very different, hard to describe but good enough that my friend bought a bottle. The owner is an older gentleman who just enjoys the slow paced life and growing wine and olive oil. We didn't taste any olive oil but he talked about why he started the winery, how big it was, who helps him (his son) etc. It was a very enjoyable 1/2 our and he didn't even charge us for the tasting. Not sure how much a tasting would be normally but around Kelseyville, they tend to be around $15, which is waived if you buy a bottle. The service was fantastic, the weather cooperated and the conversation and wine were fabulous. I would highly recommend this hidden gem!!

Nick was so personable. We talked about the wine making experience and how Rosa d'Oro came to be, family. To top it off the wine is amazing. The Chardonnay is superb and I'm not a white wine type of person. I prefer reds. All the red we had were so delicious. My husband and I ended up purchasing a case of wine. Since we enjoyed the wine so much we decided to stop by on our way home (8 hour drive) to purchase another case of wine. Thanks Nick for such a great experience and for making such delicious wine. We will be ordering wine in the future.

We camped during the week and naturally there were very few tasting rooms open. After driving to a few places only to realize that they were closed, we randomly picked the closest pace to where we were and called them. Charlene picked up and when I asked if they were open, she wanted to know when we were coming by, I said in 5 minutes and she asked us to come on down. I wondered why she asked about when we wanted to do the tasting but when we got there, we realized that they were not open but since they were there, they let us come by to taste. I am blown away by the friendly folks in Kelseyville. Charlene, the owner's daughter did the pouring for us, the sparkling pear wine was out of this world. Since we only wanted to taste whites, she went out of her way to pick 5 whites for us. The tasting room is small and can fit about 5-10 people but then they spill out into the warehouse and do the tasting there. This place is a big production, a family vineyard but not a 10-20 acre place. Not sure how large it is though. All the wines were great and my friend picked up a bottle of the sparkling pear. Tastings are $15 each but Charlene waived both our tasting fees when we bought the one bottle. They even went as as as calling another winery to see if they would take us even though they were also closed. I would highly recommend this winery, I would go twice!!

Country Fields - Country Quiet - Country Nights - Country Simple…read more The stay at Rancho de la Fuente set the stage for our visit to Lake County. For those who appreciate an agritourism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agritourism) getaway from the Bay Area, this is the place for you! Surrounded by 42 acres of open corn fields, sunflowers, tomatoes, watermelons, and other organic vegetables, you'll appreciate simpler, natural times. We stayed in the spacious Rock n Roll cottage. Inspired by our cottage theme, we played our favorite music during the days (without the fear of disturbing anyone) and enjoyed stargazing on our private porch at night. The room was well cleaned every day and supplied with ample towels for our days on the lake. The terrific hosts (R and F) kept the main house open for us to use the kitchen, access to free drinks and fruits, and access to Internet (I strongly urge you to stay off-line as long as possible). True to country hospitality, when we found a lack of venues for dinner, they invited us to a gracious family dinner. Many thanks for welcoming us into your family and home. Treat yourself to simple pleasures - spend the day swimming in the local watering holes, spend the evening enjoying wine at the vineyards, curl up with a John Steinbeck novel on the porch and welcome the starry night sky at the Rancho de la Fuente!
