This is a great breakfast spot for weekends as long as you know what you are getting. It's a nice change from nearby diners. I had coffee and the steak platter, which is a small but tasty piece of steak, some very spicy sausage, refried beans, fired plantains, and sour cream. (It normally come with eggs but I don't eat eggs.) Everything was delicious, though personally I would have been willing to give up the sausage if I could have had more steak. Around the edges of the dining room are bags of potatoes and onions - that's where they tore them. So it's either very authentic or very chaotic, depending on how you choose to see it. It's adjacent to a 24 hour laundromat that also has a wash and fold service, a hairstylist, and an outdoor car vacuum. So you could get your kids hair cut, clean your car, and then run a load of laundry while you eat. read more

I love when ethnic food stays so authentic. I've only had the tamales and pupusas here, but I can say with surety, these are the real deal. So many tamales are 90% mase and 10% filling, but these are chalk-full of meat inside. The pupusas are also stuffed. They are moist and balanced. A lot of pupusas and tamales are dry, and feel like they fall apart in your mouth. But the ones at Sofia's are juicy and perfect. I can't wait to try more things on the menu here! read more

Everything was amazing but I loved the pupusas the most. The steak taco seemed to be pretty damn good too cause he couldn't keep raving about it. I think for our next trip we are going to try to chicken tacos and of course more pupusas and steak tacos. The lomo was okay. I liked how they added green peppers and the meat was very tender. Im so glad we finally was able to check this place out. I ordered pollo con tajadas, a piece of fried chicken on a bed of pickled cabbage and fried banana chips. The meal was great, and I have no complaints, but this review is not about the chicken, but about the Atol de Elote! Atol de elote is a sweetened corn and milk drink that is almost so thick you can eat it with a spoon. The drink is served hot and has overtones of vanilla and cinnamon, and is so amazing, you could make a meal just on that drink alone. It is rich and silky, and one swallow will commit you to the rest of the serving! If you're ever near Sofia's, stop and ask for an atol de elote. You won't regret it! read more

Columns and columns of food options, plus additional pieces of paper taped below the main menu with additional options. I'm not sure) sweet breads from the day before on the counter with a "gratis" sign. Obviously, I took a delicious looking bread, and while it wasn't fresh (which is why it was free), it was quite good. The tables had plastic picnic-like coverings. Not fancy at all, but that's a-okay. The drink was self-serve in a large soup warmer. Plantain bits, cinnamon, and sugar in warm water. It was unlike anything I've had and it was the kind of thing I'd order again if I go. For $3, it was a decent amount. The taco was ready a few minutes later. It was fresh looking, although I've seen better varieties of toppings. Overall, tasty, quite good, but not mind blowing. I would come back to place for a dinner entree (there were many items on the menu that you don't see too often). Because of covid, they have a sign up that says "no mask, no service" as well as one asking patrons to stand 6 feet apart. They usually are preparing many takeout orders during lunch or dinner time.
